Maki Zenin x gn!reader
Summary: The Kyoto students have arrived for the goodwill event, You catch the eye of your best friend's sister.
A/N: this is self indulgent
Maki Zenin had never felt love. Love was a foreign emotion to her, she had no need for love. When she saw love it was from afar, or in music, or in a story.
Love did not creep in through windows or fill the sky, it was never something she hunted for, found in a pool, like an exotic treasure, back in the days of sailing ships trailing canvas and hempen ropes.
Despite not feeling the need for love, Maki found herself constantly surrounded by people who were deeply in love or searching for it. She observed the way they would hold hands, kiss each other, and look into each other's eyes. It all seemed foreign to her, like uncharted territory.
Maki watched what love did to people, the way they act, behave, and hold themselves. It was like observing an animal in the zoo. They move differently than she does. She looks at them with a sense of wonder and curiosity. She watches love like watching a car crash, it's terrible but she can't look away.
Maki thought she had everything figured out until the day she met her sister's best friend, you.
She and Mai didn't get along at all. Not since Maki had left the clan, leaving her sister behind to deal with the consequences. But when Maki locked eyes with you, something shifted inside her. It was as if she had been struck by lightning.
She tried to ignore the feeling, dismissing it as something she had eaten or the heat getting to her, maybe just from the anticipation of the Goodwill Event starting any day now.
It wasn't all that hard for her to avoid you. You were inclined to avoid her anyways, you listened to every word that Mai blabbered. Every time she saw you, you were sandwiched between Mai and Momo, your arms hanging around the pair.
But every time Maki couldn't help but take a peek at you, to see what you were up to or how you were doing. She did this in silence, often when you're looking somewhere else or lost in conversation.
Maki couldn't understand why she was feeling this way but she didn't want it to go away, but she thought if it did, it might be for the better.
She tended to wonder if you were ignoring all of the Tokyo students, you seemed friendly enough with Inumaki and Panda. Still, something about the way you carried yourself, the way your eyes gleamed with a fierce intensity, and the way your voice had a cadence that lured her in, made Maki want to unravel the mystery that was you.
One day, while she was completing her usual routine of training alone in the woods, she found you alone, in her usual spot. Part of her thought it better to not engage with you and leave you sitting on the ground by yourself. But as she turned to walk away, a soft voice called out to her.
"Hey," you said, looking up at her with a small smile on your face. Maki felt her heart race in her chest as she stopped and turned to face you.
"Can I help you with something?" Maki asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
You shook your head. "No, not really."
"Then why are you here?"
You shrugged. "I just needed some quiet time. It's hard to find that in the dorms, especially with that lot." You scuffed your shoe on the dirt, "Your sister threatened to shoot someone if people didn't stop yelling, I'd rather not be an accessory to murder." You laugh lightly.
Maki couldn't help but smile at your joke, feeling a warmth spreading through her chest. She took a few steps closer to you, drawn in by your easy laughter and the way you seemed so comfortable in your own skin.
"Is it okay if I sit down?" she asked, gesturing to the ground next to you.
You nodded, shifting over slightly to make room for her. As Maki sat down beside you, she felt a strange fluttering in her stomach that she couldn't quite explain.
For a few moments, the two of you sat in silence, staring out at the forest in front of you. The forest was quiet, the canopy above you rustling in the wind. Birds tweeted in the distance and the sun shone down through the trees, creating a mosaic of light and shadow.
"I never took you for the type to enjoy quiet time," Maki said, finally breaking the silence.
"You've known me for only a few days, is that really the impression I give?" You ask, turning to face her with a raised eyebrow.
Maki chuckled, shaking her head. "I meant more like...you seem like a social butterfly. Always surrounded by friends and always talking."
You snorted in disbelief. "Me? A social butterfly? Definitely not. I just happen to have a group of people who tolerate me."
Maki chuckled softly, turning her attention towards the forest again. "I don't believe that," she said. "You seem like someone who people genuinely enjoy being around."
You tilted your head to the side, studying her for a moment before replying. "I appreciate the compliment, but trust me, it's not true. I'm not the easiest person to be around."
Maki shook her head, a small smile on her lips. "I think I'll have to disagree with you on that one, even if you are her best friend."
You couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth spread through your chest at Maki's words. It was strange, but despite having only met her a few days ago, you felt like she understood you better than most people you had known for years.
"Thanks, Maki," you said, giving her a small smile. There was a brief moment of silence between the two of you before you spoke up again. "You're different from what I thought you'd be."
Maki raised an eyebrow, turning to face you with a curious expression. "Oh? How so?"
"I don't know," you said, shrugging your shoulders. "I guess I just had this preconceived notion of what you were like, and you've completely shattered it."
Maki laughed quietly. "Is it because I'm not as uptight and formal as you thought I'd be?"
There was a twinkle in her eyes that drew you in, and you found yourself smiling back at her. "Maybe that's part of it," you agreed. "But mostly it's because you're...I don't know, refreshing, I guess."
"I like to think so," Maki said, looking out at the forest with a thoughtful expression. "I take it she told you I was the devil incarnate, out for blood?"
"Something like that," you said, chuckling softly. "But I'm glad to see that she's wrong." You turned to look at her face, taking in the way the sunlight filtered through the trees and danced across her skin. "You're not the devil, that's for sure."
Maki met your gaze and held it for a moment longer than necessary, a faint heat creeping up her neck. "Good to know. I wouldn't want to scare you off with my devilish ways."
You both fell into a comfortable silence, content to simply enjoy each other's company and the serene beauty of the forest around you.
But the peacefulness was soon interrupted by a call of your name. Maki felt like a rock had hit a glass window, shattering it.
You turned around to see who it was and noticed that it was Momo. You sighed and scrambled to your feet. "I suppose I have to go now."
Maki nodded, her lips pursed in a thin line. "Of course. Duty calls." You wished you could stay here with her, basking in the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the forest.
As you turned to leave, Maki caught your arm. "Wait," she said softly, her eyes searching yours. "Do you want to come back here later? Maybe after everything's settled down?"
You blinked in surprise, not expecting Maki to ask you that. But the hopefulness in her eyes tugged at your heartstrings, and you found yourself nodding before you even thought about it. "I would like that," you said, smiling at her.
Maki beamed at your response, and you felt your heart skip a beat at the sight. "Great," she said, her voice light with excitement. "I know some beautiful spots deeper in the forest that I'd love to show you."
Maki hadn't thought she would want to hang out with Mai's best friend. But as she watched you leave, she couldn't help but feel a newfound sense of longing. She had always been a solitary person, content with her own company and the soothing quiet of the forest. But something about you had sparked a curiosity in her that she couldn't ignore.
You dragged your feet a little as you approached Momo, not wanting to leave the peacefulness of the forest behind. As you neared Momo, you noticed the concerned look on her face.
"Mai is going to murder you if she finds out that you were here with her," Momo said.
You rolled your eyes, knowing Momo was right but not wanting to think about it. "I know, I know. But it's not like we were doing anything wrong. We were just talking."
Momo snorted, clearly not convinced. "Whatever you say, but just be careful, alright? I don't want to be the one to explain to Mai why her best friend got her heart broken by some forest hermit that she just so happens to be related to."
You let out a laugh, knowing that Momo was just teasing you. "I'll be fine, Momo. I promise." You tell her as the two of you walk back towards your temporary dorms.
The next time you saw Maki was that night. You'd closed the door to your room gently, incredibly hesitant to let anyone know you were leaving. You almost tiptoed down the hall, careful not to make any noise that would alert anyone to your departure, your heart pounding in your chest at the thought of being caught.
But as you stepped outside, you saw Maki waiting for you, with a small smile on her face. "I hoped you would come," she said softly.
You felt the heat rise to your cheeks as you looked at Maki, mesmerized by her beauty. Her hair was untied, the reflection of the moon in her glasses, and her eyes glowed in the moonlight. You felt drawn to her, unable to resist the pull that you felt towards her. "Can you blame me?"you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
Maki chuckled lightly, a sound that sent shivers down your spine. "No, I can't blame you," she replied. "It's a beautiful night, isn't it?"
You nodded, looking up at the starry sky. "It is."
You watched as Maki walked towards you, her gaze never leaving yours. She slipped her arm around you, pulling you closer, and you felt a rush of heat spread through your body. It was like you were suddenly alive for the first time in ages.
You could smell the subtle scent of flowers on her, and it added to the intoxicating atmosphere around her. "Let's take a walk, shall we?" You nodded, feeling as if you would do anything that Maki asked of you.
Together, the two of you walked under the moonlight, enjoying the peace and quiet of the night. The wind was cool, and it felt refreshing against your skin.
Maki Zenin had never experienced emotions like the ones currently stirring in her stomach. She tried to suppress the feeling, but it was no use. She was hopelessly drawn to you, and losing herself in your presence was the only thing she could think of doing.
As the two of you walked, you could feel Maki's eyes burning into your skin.
It was like she was trying to figure out the thoughts you were keeping in your mind, trying to unravel the secrets that you had kept hidden away from the world. Trying to discover the way she was feeling through your actions, she wondered if your palms were hot or if you were overly aware of your appearance like she was.
The silence hung heavy between the two of you, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It was like you both understood that words weren't necessary. The only sound was the soft rustling of leaves underfoot, and the occasional chirp of a cricket.
"Tell me something about yourself," You say finally breaking the silence.
Maki looked at you and smiled, "What would you like to know?"
You thought for a moment, "I'm not sure," you admitted, feeling a little embarrassed. "Just something, anything."
Maki's expression turned thoughtful as she walked beside you "Well, I suppose there are a few things," she said after a moment."My favourite colour is purple."
"Woah, that's way too deep," You laugh, trying to lighten the mood. Maki smiled and chuckled along with you.
"Okay, how about you," she continued.
"Orange," You say, digging your hands into your pockets
"Really, orange?" Maki raised an eyebrow but her tone was amused. You nodded sheepishly, feeling more vulnerable under her scrutinizing gaze.
"I like that," she said softly, nudging your arm with her elbow. "It's unique."
"What is your favourite animal?" You asked
"Your questions are basic," Maki teased, shaking her head in amusement.
"Okay, throw me a question," You tilt your head, challenging her to come up with something more challenging.
"What are you afraid of?"
You paused for a moment, "I'm not sure, people are afraid of a lot of things." You hesitate slightly "I suppose, spiders?"
Maki chuckled, "Spiders? Really?"
"Yeah, they're creepy and disgusting," you say, shuddering at the thought.
Maki looked at you with a glint in her eye, "I'm not afraid of spiders," she declared.
You raised an eyebrow, "Okay, what are you afraid of then?"
"Do you want a deeply honest response?" She says, her voice softening. You nod, intrigued by her sudden change in tone.
"I think I might be afraid," She takes a deep breath "of never being in love." Her words hit you like a freight train. You had never heard someone lay their soul bare like that, especially not someone you had just met.
"That's a deep fear," You say, your voice laced with empathy.
"It is," she agrees, "but it's also important. Love is such a fundamental need, isn't it?" Her eyes never leave her feet as she walks. "But I think recently I've felt something that could be this twinge of love,"
Maki trailed off, lost in thought as she contemplated her feelings. You could sense her vulnerability and hesitation, but you didn't want to press her. Instead, you gave her the space she needed to collect her thoughts.
You feel your heart pounding in your chest. Maki's vulnerability is stirring up feelings you didn't even know you had. You clear your throat, trying to regain your composure.
After a few moments of silence, you spoke up, "Do you think it's possible to fall in love quickly?"
Maki looked at you, intrigued, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, can you have enough of a connection with someone, even if you've only known them for a short amount of time, that you know you're in love with them?" You ask, feeling a knot form in your stomach.
Maki's expression softened as she considered your question. "I think it's possible," she said thoughtfully. "Love is a strange thing. I don't think it follows a set timeline or logical pattern. Sometimes it just happens."
"And this person, who is making you feel this twinge, what are they like?"
Maki blushed slightly, her eyes flickering up to meet yours before darting away again. "Is it terrible to say I'm not sure, or that I don't care?"
You chuckled, understanding Maki's uncertainty. "No, it's not terrible at all. Sometimes the heart doesn't need reasons to feel things."
Maki nodded in agreement, "Exactly. It's like a feeling that's both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. Like jumping off a cliff, not knowing if you'll hit the water or the rocks below."
As you and Maki continued walking, you couldn't help but feel the growing tension between the two of you. The air was thick with unspoken words, and you both knew what was happening.
"I think I'm falling for you," you blurted out, unable to contain your emotions any longer Maki stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening in surprise. You could see she struggled to find the right words to say.
"I don't know what to say," Maki finally said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I feel like I'm in a dream, but I don't want to wake up."
Your heart fluttered at her response, and you took a step closer to her. "Then don't wake up," you said softly, reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. Maki's breath hitched as your fingers grazed her skin.
You leaned in, closing the distance between the two of you, and pressed your lips gently against hers, stealing her first kiss. Maki's lips tasted sweet, like honey, and her body was trembling with a mixture of nervousness and excitement.
As you broke the kiss, you looked deep into her eyes, seeing the same longing mirrored in her gaze. You took her hand and led her to a nearby bench, sitting down beside her. The silence between you was comfortable, each lost in your own thoughts as you basked in the afterglow of the kiss.
"I don't want this moment to end," You said, breaking the silence. "I want to stay like this forever."
She smiled, squeezing your hand reassuringly. "Me too, but we can't stay here forever."
You pouted, "Why not?"
"Because reality will catch up with us eventually," Maki said softly.
"I don't care," you said, your voice low and filled with longing. "I just want to be with you."
Maki chuckled, the sound light and airy. "You're such a romantic," she said, her eyes glittering with amusement.

It's a commonly known fact that love makes you do things that you wouldn't usually do. Your heart, thumps in your chest, rattling your ribcage. Your mind is consumed with thoughts of that special someone.
And for you that special someone was Utahime. You couldn't help but be drawn to her unique beauty. Her porcelain skin, full lips, and brown eyes left you entranced whenever you laid eyes on her. Most people would have been put off of the sorcerer as soon as they saw the large scar that covered the expanse of her face. But for you, it was just another element that added to her already alluring features.
But there you were, running a soft and delicate cloth across her face, soothingly caring for a wound that she had obtained from a cursed spirit. She let out an involuntary gasp as you gradually wiped away the blood, her hand clutching onto yours tight. You couldn't help but feel a sense of tenderness wash over you at the sight of her in pain.
"You have such gentle hands," she whispered, her eyes locked onto yours. You felt your cheeks flush at the compliment, her words sending a thrill through your body. You looked down at your hands and then back up at her, a small smile playing on your lips.
"Thank you," you whispered meekly. Her gaze stayed glued to you, her eyes scanning the features of your face. "I think you'll live," You joked playfully, looking at the stained cloth in your hand. She let out a low giggle, her palm still embraced by yours.
"I knew I was in good hands when I asked for your help," Utahime murmured tenderly, her thumb tracing calming circles against the back of your hand. You couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth spread through your chest at her touch.
As you continued to tend to her wounds, you found yourself getting lost in her gaze. There was something different about her eyes today, something that made you feel like she was looking at you differently. Her eyes seemed to linger on your own, almost as if she were searching for something deeper within you.
You couldn't deny the way your heart was pounding in your chest, your emotions feeling like a jumbled mess. It was then that Utahime spoke up, breaking the silence that had fallen between you both.
"I have something I need to tell you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. You swallowed hard, fear and excitement battling within you at her words.
"What is it, 'hime?" you asked, your voice quiet.
She took a deep breath, her eyes never leaving yours. "I know we've been dancing around each other for a while now," she began, her voice laced with uncertainty. "But I want you to know that I have feelings for you. Deep feelings."
Your heart leapt in your chest at her confession, your mind racing to process the words she had just spoken. You searched her face for any indication of hesitation or doubt but found none. She looked at you with such clarity and purpose that you knew she had thought long and hard about what she wanted to say to you.
As she spoke, you found yourself losing control of your emotions. Your heart was beating so hard in your chest that you were sure she could hear it. Her vulnerability was both beautiful and terrifying. You didn't know how to respond, so you simply stared deep into her eyes.
Utahime's hand tightened around yours, her fingers interlocking with yours. "Please say something," she breathed out softly, the faint traces of a tremor in her voice.
"I don't know what to say," you stammered, your mind racing a mile a minute.
Utahime's expression shifted to one of worry. "Do you not feel the same way?"
You shook your head hastily, the movement slightly jarring the hand that Utahime still held in her grasp. "No, it's not that," you said, trying to find the right words to explain what you were feeling. "It's just, I never thought you would feel that way about me."
Utahime's expression softened at your words, and she leaned in closer to you. Her lips were just inches away from yours, and you could feel her warm breath on your skin.
"I understand," she whispered, her eyes flashing with a new intensity. "But I want you to know that I mean every word I say. I want to be with you."
Her words hit you like a ton of bricks, and you felt your resolve crumble. You leaned in closer to her, your lips meeting hers in a searing kiss.

I love asa mitaka, and I'm in desperate need of more work for her. So how about going out on your first date with her and both of you having a great time and asking for a second date😊😊😊
Asa was nervous, it wasn't an unusual occurrence. She had chalked it up to being the way Yoru probed at the back of her mind, trying to convince her to kill you.
She tried to push those thoughts away, shrugging off the anxiety that always seemed to come with spending too much time in her own head.
She tried to convince herself she didn't care as much as she did, she and Yoru both knew it was a lie. The way she fixed her hair every time she passed a somewhat reflective surface in her apartment.
Asa fiddled with the hem of her blouse, pulling at the fabric as if trying to smooth out any wrinkles. The anxiety that always seemed to cling to her was now reaching a fever pitch, and she couldn't ignore it any longer.
She was pacing back and forth in front of her door, waiting for you to turn up. Some part of her thought you wouldn't.
But then she heard a knock on the door, and Asa's heart leapt into her throat. She took a deep breath and steadied herself before opening the door to reveal you, standing there with a small smile on your lips. Her eyes scanned your face for any sign of hesitation or regret, but to her relief, she found none.
"Hey," you said, your voice filled with warmth that made Asa's heart flutter.
"Hey," she replied, her own voice barely above a whisper.
You held out a bouquet of flowers towards her. "These are for you," you said. Asa had never cared much for flowers, they were just another part of the ecosystem, but these were different, they were from you.
Asa's cheeks flushed with warmth at the sight of the flowers, and she took them from you with a gentle smile tugging at her lips. She brought them up to her nose, inhaling deeply as she tried to calm her racing heart. Asa had never been one for romantic gestures, but something about the way you held her gaze made her feel different.
"Thank you," she said, her voice still soft. You grinned at Asa, admiring how beautiful she looked with just a gentle blush on her cheeks.
"Do you want to get going?" You ask, gesturing to the picnic basket hanging from your hand and the blanket tucked underneath your arm.
Asa nodded, placing the flowers inside and making a mental note to put them inside a vase once she had returned. The two of you made your way out of Asa's apartment complex, walking side by side in comfortable silence. Asa felt her nerves slowly dissipating with every step. This was a date, not a life-or-death situation.
As you walked, Asa took the time to observe you - the way you walked with confidence, the way your hair caught the sunlight, and the way your lips curved into a smile.
Eventually, you arrived at your destination: a secluded spot in the park where the trees provided a cool shade and the grass was soft to the touch. You spread out the blanket on the ground, and Asa sat down next to you, admiring the beautiful scenery.
"I didn't know there was a park here." She tells you.
"It's one of my favourite spots in the city," you reply, as you begin to unpack the picnic basket. Asa watched as you pulled out a variety of foods and drinks.
You handed her a sandwich and poured her a glass of iced tea, and the two of you started to eat and chat. Asa found herself relaxing more and more, feeling at ease in your company. She told you about her interests, and you listened attentively, asking questions and making comments.
Asa was surprised at how easy it was to talk to you. With other people, she always felt like she had to hide parts of herself, to avoid letting her true nature slip out. But with you, it was different. Asa felt like she could be herself, free from judgment or ridicule. And as the conversation continued, she started to feel a warmth in her chest that she couldn't quite explain.
Yoru was like a broken record in the back of her head, and for the first time, Asa found herself able to ignore the War Devil.
As the afternoon stretched on, the sun began to dip towards the horizon. You sat side by side, watching as the sky filled with shades of pink and orange. Asa's heart pounded in her chest as she stole a glance at you, wondering if you felt the same connection that she did.
You turned to face Asa, and she felt your hand brushing against hers. Asa's heart skipped a beat and she felt electricity course through her veins. She turned to look into your eyes, searching for any hint of what you were feeling.
"I had a great time today." You said, breaking the silence. Asa's heart was beating so fast that she thought it might burst out of her chest. She could feel her cheeks turning red, and she searched for the right words to respond.
"I had a great time too," she said softly, feeling a surge of happiness inside her.
"I'd like to do this again," you said, your voice low and warm.
Asa felt a spark of hope ignited inside her. Maybe, just maybe, you felt the same way she did.
"I'd like that," she replied softly.
There was a moment of silence between the two of you as you both gazed out at the scenic sunset.
"Oh my god, I'm so bored, I don't even care about killing them anymore I just want to go home," Yoru whined

marry me?
Annie Leonhart x gn!warrior!reader
Summary: The three times you ask Annie to marry you.
A/N: Had to write something for her birthday
The first time you had asked Annie to marry you, you were still in Liberio. A year until the mission to reclaim the founding titan and had been announced to be inheriting your respective titans in one month's time.
You remember the day vividly. You were both children, sitting on the steps of the Liberio headquarters. The sun was setting, casting a warm golden glow over the stone building behind you. You had been sitting side by side, watching the sky change colours.
Annie had said something to you, and you had turned to her, expecting her to continue the conversation. But she was looking away, her hands clasped together in her lap.
"Thirteen years."
You felt a sense of unease settle in your stomach. Thirteen years didn't seem like a lot of time. "Do you think we'll be ready?" you asked.
"What does it matter?" She starts finally looking over at you "We made it this far, you can't back out now."
Her words hit you like a ton of bricks. You had never considered backing out of your duty to reclaim the founding Titan, but the weight of the responsibility felt heavier than ever before. "I'm not backing out," you said, your voice firm. "I just, I don't know if it's enough time."
You looked into her eyes and felt a surge of emotion. You had always admired Annie's strength and determination, and you knew that you could count on her to support you through anything. "Annie," you said suddenly, feeling a rush of courage. "Will you marry me?"
That was the first time you had ever heard her laugh. It was a soft, delicate sound that filled you with warmth. She turned to face you fully, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "We're too young," she said.
You felt your face flush with embarrassment, realizing how ridiculous your question must have sounded. "I know, I know," you stammered. "I just don't want to waste any time."
In a way that was so unique to Annie, she told you with a stone-cold face "get lost." But you didn't take offence, how could you?
You chuckled at her response, knowing that Annie had a way of speaking her mind without holding back. "I'll take that as a no then," you said, still grinning.
Annie rolled her eyes, but you could see a hint of amusement in her expression. "You're impossible,"
The second time you had asked you were sixteen stuck on Paradis, just days from graduating from the training corps.
The two of you sat on her bunk as the others went to their last dinner in the comfort and safety of the world you'd all come to know the past three years.
"What now?" You had asked Annie, staring at the wall in front of you. It was a question that had been plaguing you for a while. In retrospect it was a stupid question, you both had the grades and skills to join the Military Police and that was the plan.
"Get the titan and go home." She said blankly.
"What if I wanted to stay?" You asked, knowing the answer but still wanting to hear it.
Annie turned to look at you, her blue eyes intense. "Then you would be an idiot," she hissed. "It's unrealistic."
You knew she was right, but it still hurt. "I guess so," You sigh "I've been thinking too much about what if things were different."
Annie let out a sigh, "I know," she said, placing a hand on your knee. "But we have a duty."
You nodded, knowing she was right. But then the words slipped out before you could stop them. "Annie, will you marry me?"
This time, there was no laughter or eye-rolling. Annie simply looked at you, her expression unreadable. "Why do you keep asking me that?" she asked.
"It'd be easier, us together, running away to somewhere where nobody knows us and we can live the rest of our lives in peace." You stammer
"That's just a dream though," Annie tells you
"What about us?" You ask "Are we a dream?"
"I don't know," She says "If we are, it's a nice dream."
The third time you had asked you were twenty. The war had been over for months. You and Annie were sitting on a bench in the park, watching children play. It was a rare moment of peace in a world that had been consumed by conflict for as long as you could remember.
Annie leaned her head on your shoulder, and you felt a sense of contentment wash over you. You had been through so much together, and yet you still felt like there was so much more to come.
The world seemed more peaceful now, and you wanted to spend the rest of your life taking advantage of that.
"Marry me?" you asked, the possibility seemed closer now, like it wasn't an impossible joke and you weren't just asking so you could run away with her.
Annie looked over at you for a moment, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "You know, you're getting better at this," she said.
You chuckled, feeling a sense of relief wash over you. "Is that a yes?"
Annie nodded,. "Yes, it is."

come back to me
Hitch Dreyse x gn!reader
Summary: The walls have fallen and the rumbling has started. You face the task of telling Hitch that you need to go.
A/N: Let's just pretend Annie did not take Hitch hostage.
It's a hard thing for you to go and find Hitch after the walls had fallen. The streets are full of rubble and people pulling others out from the wreckages.
You keep your head down, not making eye contact with anyone because you know there's a sliver of a chance that the lifeless eyes you'll meet are her green ones.
The streets are chaotic. Everything is in pieces.
The narrow streets are full of debris, the wreckage of a city. The buildings are still standing but unlike what you are used to, they are warped beyond measure.
So as you approach the still-standing Military Police building, you keep your head down, not wanting to get too close to the wreckage. But the falling of the walls is nothing to the way you'll know Hitch will look at you once you find her and tell her what you have to do.
The Military Police building is bustling, MP's are running around like headless chickens, securing the unstable and medically assisting them, gathering resources and providing shelter, others dragging dazed citizens in the opposite direction.
The sound of their boots hitting the floor echoes through the building, creating a desperate rhythm that reels you in and makes it hard to leave. It smells like leather and starch and sweat.
You navigate through the chaos, making your way to the makeshift medical ward that has been set up in one of the larger rooms. The sound of moans and cries echo through the hallways, making your heart race with anxiety.
As you approach the entrance to the ward, a group of MPs stops you, asking for your identification and your business there. You show them your credentials, explaining that you're looking for someone.
One of the MPs, a stern-looking woman with a no-nonsense attitude, steps forward and asks for the name of the person you're after. You hesitate for a moment, knowing that once you say Hitch's name, there's no going back.
You take a deep breath and say her name, and the woman's expression softens a bit as she nods, telling you that she knows who you're talking about.
She leads you through the crowded room, past rows of injured people lying on makeshift cots, some with bandages wrapped around their heads, others with broken limbs. You can't help but feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who have been affected by the wall's collapse.
Finally, you see her. Hitch is sitting on a cot with a few cuts on her face and she's arguing with another MP.
"I'm fine, let me get back out there, I've got people to help." She says stubbornly, her green eyes angry and her lip trembling.
You approach her cautiously, not entirely sure what you're going to say to her. But the look of relief that fills her eyes when she sees you tells you everything that you need to know.
"Hitch," You breathe out and it's barely audible.
"Hey," She says softly, her voice broken, rushing up to hug you. You wrap your arms around her, feeling her body shake as she holds onto you tightly. For a moment, you both just stand there, holding each other, letting the chaos of the outside world fade away.
Finally, you pull back slightly and look at her, taking in the cuts and bruises on her face, the exhaustion in her eyes. You know what you have to do, and it's going to be hard, but it's necessary.
"Hitch, I need to talk to you about something." You say gently, your voice barely above a whisper. "Somewhere private."
She nods, understanding what you're saying. She follows you out of the ward, her footsteps slow and unsteady.
Once you're alone, you take a deep breath and steel yourself for what you're about to say.
"Hitch, I'm sorry." You say quietly, fighting the tears that are threatening to come. "But I need to leave."
"What?" She asks, her voice a raw whisper.
"You heard his speech." You say clenching your fists and glaring at the floor. "I'm going with the others, to stop him."
Hitch's eyes widen in shock, and for a moment, she doesn't say anything. Then, she takes a step back from you, her face contorting in anger. "What are you thinking? Do you even realize what you're getting into?" She says, her voice rising in pitch.
"I do." You say, barely holding yourself together. "But I'm going because I have to and I know that I might not come back."
Hitch's anger slowly fades, replaced by a look of sadness and understanding. "I can't stop you, can I?" She says softly.
You shake your head, feeling a lump form in your throat. "I wish you could."
"You'll try right?" She starts "To come back?"
You nod, not trusting yourself to speak. Hitch pulls you into a hug, her arms tight around you. "Be careful, okay?" She says softly.
"I will." You promise and for a moment, you let yourself melt into her embrace, grateful for the familiar warmth that she brings to the icy world that you're about to enter.
As you finally pull away, you take one last look at Hitch, memorizing the way she looks in this moment, hoping it won't be the last time you see her.
"I'll come back," You say staring down at your fingers "and when I do, I'll marry you."
Hitch's eyes widen in surprise at your words, and for a moment, she doesn't say anything. Then, a small smile tugs at the corners of her lips.
"I'll hold you to that." She says softly, her hands coming up to cup your face. She reaches up and pulls you down to her, pressing her lips tightly to yours.
For a moment, everything else falls away and all that exists is the two of you, together in that moment. Finally, she pulls away, her eyes shining with tears. "Just promise me you'll come back in one piece."

Cuddling with Asa for the first time is a unique experience. It's the first time Asa has done something like this, it's strange nobody had shown her love and affection since the death of her mother.
She's incredibly red whilst in your arms, and you can tell she's trying to contain her emotions. She's so fragile, and you want to make her feel safe and loved.
As you hold Asa in your arms, you can feel her slowly relaxing and letting her guard down. You stroke her hair gently and whisper words of comfort, assuring her that she is not alone and that she deserves love.
Asa slowly looks up at you, her eyes filled with tears, and you can sense the pain she's been holding onto for so long. You wipe her tears away and hold her close, letting her know that it's okay to cry and that you are there to listen.
Eventually, Asa manages to calm down and she kisses you softly on the lips. She tells you how grateful she is for your love and support, and you can feel the warmth of her smile.
You spend the rest of the night holding each other close, watching television or simply recovering in each other's company. You know that Asa needs this kind of support, and you are happy to provide it.

Head empty. Just Ririka wearing an oversized sweater and sipping on a mug of tea early in the morning.
She's on the balcony and it's freezing. The frosty, early morning air carries the aroma of melting snow. Her misty breath bouncing off the steam from her mug.
You stand in the doorway, rubbing sleep from your eyes as she looks out to the world.
"Good morning."
She doesn't look at you. She's staring at the trees in the distance, a smile on her face. "It's a nice day today."
Your bare feet stick to the snow as you close the door behind you. It's cold enough that you can feel your toes starting to turn blue. "You're up early. I thought you'd want to sleep in."
You walk over to a chair and sit down. Ririka turns to face you, her legs folded up beneath her. She smiles again and the slight tint of red to her cheeks is the icing on the cake. "I wanted to see the sunrise."
You watch the foggy breath leave your mouth as you lean toward her, you didn't know it was possible for her to become redder.
You press a kiss on her cheek and smile.

You and Maki had always been close, but suddenly everything felt different and more intense. You started seeing her in a new light, which was so confusing. What did it all mean?
You would smile as she knocked the wind out of you during training because you felt that defenseless around her.
Maki’s hard-hitting blows leave your defenses in shambles and you land on your back. You’re dazed and can’t move. Your vision swims like you’ve been drinking, but you haven’t. Your mind is fuzzy, you can’t remember how you got there, or even who you are for a second. Everything is white, you see Maki standing over you, her hand reaching out, you’re unsure if this is real or a dream. You lay there, unable to move and a smile breaks across your face.
Your muscles ache, and it feels nice.
"You getting up or?" She asks, standing over you.
"Yeah, yeah." You reach out and take her hand, letting her pull you to your feet.
"You're rather red, do you need a moment?" She tilts her head, an uncharacteristically subtle gesture from her.
"No, I'm fine!" You wave her off, already on your feet. "Let's go again!"
"Okay, we'll do this till you fall then." She smiles, suddenly her normal self. You return the smile and the two of you prepare for another round.
And you are on the floor again in the blink of an eye. Maki's leaning over you once more.
"You're off today, something on your mind?"She asks, her voice soft again.
"Maybe." You say, smiling.
"Well, you're being awfully difficult." She says, sitting next to you on the ground. You look over at her and she's smiling. It's a nice smile, you get lost in it, and it's almost like a trance. Your heart flutters.
"I really like you." You tell her and you think that those four words have ruined everything.
But she just laughs and says, "Really now?" She pauses, trying to collect herself. "I like you too." You cant even reply before she speaks again.
"Ready to go again?"
"huh?"
"Maybe if you take me down, i'll give you a kiss."

It was a clear and bright day as you and Asa walked toward the aquarium. The silence falling between the two of you being comfortable.
Each of you not looking at the other as you glanced at the front door of the aquarium. Asa hadn't expected you to ask her on a date that weekend, but she was glad you had. That made her feel special. Despite Yoru's suggestions, she would not be turning you into a weapon.
You went up to the door and pulled it open, holding it for her to step inside.
Her eyes locked with yours for a moment as she took in everything in front of her. The aquarium's interior was amazing. The glass walls show the fish swimming around in their tanks. Asa was amazed at the fish as she stood there.
"So where'd you want to look first?" You ask her, a smile on your face.
"I don't know." She said. "But I think I'd like to just walk around first. See what all of this is."
"Alright." You answer her, her eyes not leaving yours as you started walking around the aquarium, looking at all of the fish.
"Hey," she starts "look at the starfish."
"Pretty cool," You tell her "Can't say I know much about them."
"They're Echinoderms and relatives of the sea urchin."
"Oh." You reply. Looking over at her, "That explains a lot."
"What?"
"It explains why they're so " you rub your chin in thought "You know...fishy?"
"Fishy?" She blurts out, her eyes going wide.
"You don't like my fish pun?" You ask with a smile.
"No, it's just-" she begins
"-God awful?" You laugh
A smile tugged at her lips. "That's the one." Her voice was low, soft, and breathy, like silk sliding across bare skin.
For a moment it occurs to her that maybe, just maybe she might be falling for you.
