finally watching m9 reunited and i have to say i am obsessed with fjord constantly being outnumbered by jester and taliesin. every time he hangs out with beau he's like "oh my god you have to save me theyre taking me to brunch and shopping" and she goes "dude you dont HAVE to go why do you always act like theyre dragging you around in handcuffs" and he goes "no you dont understand. i cannot not go. its impossible. first of all you know that if im away from jessie for over five hours i start shaking and throwing up. second of all can you imagine saying no to cad. can you imagine not inviting king to something. im going to get murdered, beau. im going to get torn asunder and i will have deserved it. anyway gtg pick out outfits for our 7.5 month anniversary it would be a shame if you sentinelled me into unconsciousness and i was physically unable-"

YES YES YES TO ALL OF IT it’s so insane to me that people don’t see this and call fjorester BORING AND RUSHED AND BASELESS?!!?!?!???? but also i’m always at 100% of my attention being on these two so… he just gets her the way that no one else really does, you can tell even from the way he looks at her compared to everyone else. like she’s an adult vs a child. they’d be all “oh jester’s soo fun but a little shallow and crazy and childish”. like it was so funny to me when beau in rumblecusp in that conversation with fjord was like ohhh you know she’s easy to lust after because she’s all fireworks and rainbows, but yasha has something deeper inside her that’s more commitment and fjord just sat there like

i also think widojest is very sweet but to me it always looked very obvious that caleb was projecting astrid and wulf onto jester and fjord, especially jester, and that was a big reason for his longing towards her, along with being able to see through the doubled cheer sometimes when she’d be hurting and lonely because he just recognised his own swallowed feelings mirrored inside her. i think caleb fell in love with what jester respresented (purity, innocence, compassion, empathy, unconditional love), because of its complete lack in his life/his belief that he was the opposite. similar with beau, and i think both of them wanted jester because of what she provided emotionally, but neither of them really tried to see much beyond it like fjord just did.

he knew because he was just like her in some ways, and while he would tease and play with her naive innocent sweet side, that was also real, he seemed to perfectly naturally understand that she was clever and insightful and deep and emotional and capable in her own right, and only ever let her know that he’d always be there if she needed, without assuming she needed anyone’s assistance.

just like fjord, whose charismatic, serious, strategic and vandren-leader-like side was just as big part of him as the goofy, shy, boy-failure.

their character-arcs mirror each other so beautifully. they are literally perfect for each other. they love each other exactly how the other needs. jester meant it when she said it felt safe and comfortable, and like they’ve known each other their whole lives 🥹 they see each other.

fjord and jester's communication is literally so beautiful... im always so surprised and moved by fjord's ability to say the right thing to allow her space to open up, to prompt her without prying, the way he's always silently saying 'i'm here if you need me.' completely knowing she has emotional depth but also that her cheerful and silly disposition isn't just some lie or mask. her demeanor is who she is and it's not mutually exclusive with having deep thoughts and difficult feelings. idk he just gives her so much space to be a whole person from the very beginning where i think the rest of tmn can view her a little one-dimensionally. he's also so intuitive and knows exactly when to shift the conversation to something light or funny, which is a skill they share, so they both understand and don't need to minimize it as pure deflection.

M9 fans like "I can't wait to see this moment animated!!" no. I will simply pass away the moment I see the concept art for Caleb. I don't even need to watch the show at that point, I can leave the fandom entirely and die in peace
