A final thank-you
On Friday Dec. 13, our group travelled to the Horizons for Youth shelter for our final meeting. This marked the end of our three-month event project with the organization, and we could not have been happier with the way everything turned out.
Because of the contributions of our sponsors, peers, families and friends, we were able to present a cheque to Horizons for Youth for $4155. This money will go toward the 2014 Algonquin Canoe Trip for Horizons' youth.
We would like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank-you to our amazing support network. Spotlight: Horizons was an overwhelming success and it was truly heartwarming to see so many people come together in support of this fantastic cause.
We would also like to thank the entire staff of Horizons for Youth for the great things they do to combat youth homelessness in our city. It's been an absolute pleasure to work with you, and we hope Centennial PR students continue to support this cause in the future.
Sincerely,
Team Spotlight: Maria-Teresa Andreacchi Jill Burkes Lindsey McCulloch Margaret O'Donoghue Mike Riverso Fiona Somerville

Get to know Horizons for Youth
"As a group of Centennial College PR students, we were tasked with hosting a charity event for our curriculum. Once we began our research, we found Horizons for Youth and immediately felt a connection. In order to get a better feel for what the shelter does and who it effects, we shot interviews at the shelter and created a video to show others how important their work is."
Thanks again to our resident filmmaker, Margaret O'Donoghue!

Silent Auction: Original Artwork!
Urban Gallery Toronto is providing two pieces of artwork for our silent auction. These pieces are created by abstract expressionist artist, Hélène Asselbergs.
"Abstract expressionist painting provides me with the platform to combine the creative efforts of painting and sculpting onto a canvas. I use a range of media in addition to acrylics, including sparkle dust, sculpting clay and at times, freshwater pearls, flax seeds, along with other media, to work with the energy I am feeling and wanting to transmit into an expression our eyes will contemplate."
Thank you, Hélène Asselbergs and Urban Gallery, for donating these one-of-a-kind pieces!
