        Trying to clean up the mess of books and papers he’d tossed about, Demetrius paused. Was it bad she said it? Oh god no it wasn’t anything like that..Or was it? Whatever the case be he shook his head, sputtering as he did such. Sure enough he took the black box into his own hands. It’d been centuries since the last time he received anything close to a birthday gift.

             “No, no its quite alright! Its just something..               I don’t hear often is all…But thank you, Keira.”

Why was she so nervous? Because she wanted his birthday to be perfect. He was her father now and she wanted him to know that  he is very much loved.

Keira never liked her birthday very much as a kid. She didn’t get a party, but she was allowed to go out and Trick or Treat without an adult. Being born on Halloween, kids made fun of her a lot by saying she was a hell spawn or a zombie. It was usually terrible. Now that she’s older and part of the living dead, she does enjoy Halloween. It’s her favorite holiday.

Of course Demetrius and Anastasia couldn’t give Keira the life she wanted, nor the one she wished for. But god was Demetrius going to work for all eternity to give her the one she deserved. Though perhaps having Death as a father figure, and a mother  who had been killed by so said father figure wasn’t the best way to start up that whole picture perfect family, yet they were a family. An odd family but a family none the less.

Jumping at the sudden feeling of the girls arms coming around his torso, the immortal was hesitant, scared he may end up have hurt the other. But in the end slender arms wormed their way around the smaller figure. Perhaps this was what the lands of the great beyond had in store for him and his wife after all. Perhaps Keira was the child they’d never get, or rather the one that seemed so impossible. 

❝We’ll be here for you though the ends of time, dear. Its like I said, neither Anastasia or myself have anywhere we could possibly go, so we’ll be here to help you along as best we can.❞ Pausing he made a face. Perhaps that wasn’t the best way to put things, but it was true to a morbid point. They couldn’t die, none of them could.

☠ → There’s a small laugh from the skeleton girl, watching her father figure sit in silence and contemplate his actions. Was he really over thinking hugging her? How ruuuude. When they finally make their way around her, she nuzzles him gently. Cold skin against cold skin. That’s the life of immortal, dead beings.

Life was hard before she died. It was constant fear and tears. Nothing nice. That was the freeing thing about death; freedom. It’s as simple as that. She could do what she wished and have a real life; the only turning point being that she had a hard time with adult things. And you know, the fact she’s a living skeleton.

Nodding, the pale girl curled further into Death. “I don’t either...I- I don’t think my biological mother would be all too happy seeing me... My brother might..” She shook her head. “That doesn’t matter now. You and Ana are all I need!” Her expression brightens a bit as she manages a smile.
