broppy capture au question

how did the bros and viva feel about branch and poppy being captured seeing as 1. branch or poppy will say poppy name meaning jd will mention it at one point that their brother and his girlfriend poppy is captured, and 2. there is no way viva would stay behind if she knew poppy was captured or she will, who really knows.

The bros are really worried about Branch. They all (minus Floyd) still think of Branch as the baby of the family so they have this image in their head of him being scared and waiting for them to come rescue him like when he was a baby and had a nightmare or something. Floyd views Branch as an adult (like in the movie) but he’s still really worried about him, for obvious reasons, but he feels extra guilty because he’s been knocking about Mount Rageous since before Velvet and Veneer became famous. He feels like he should have known something was up and saved them just because he was nearby, even though that’s unrealistic. Kinda like “It was practically happening right around the corner from me; I should have known, I could have rescued you”.

When John and Bruce come to collect Clay, Viva tries to keep them at Hole ‘N Fun like in the movie, but as soon as Viva hears that the Queen of the Pop Trolls is trapped too (and confirming that her name is Poppy), she agrees to come with them, even though she’s terrified of the outside world. She feels a wild cocktail of ecstatic, relieved, worried and scared the whole time. It’s a bit of a miracle that she’s functioning but she’s got Clay with her to help her stay grounded.

I love thinking about pop trolls and how isolated they had been in that caged tree. I bet their knowledge of the world deteriorated in all sorts of ways over time, including funny ways like this.

Makes me think of when they sent the first platypus taxidermy to Europe and the scientists initially claimed that it's a fake that had been put together with parts of different animals. 😅

Anyway I bet Floyd made a bunch of interesting comments and statements during the band days that made the others (usually Hed) lose their marbles.

okay listen listen, can u imagine dickory's fierce protective steak he has with his music, but directed towards john???

i genuinely think it would do insane things for him. healing wounds he didn't even know he had.

they both say things like "ya darn skippy, playa-play" and "ding ding" and "good gosh darned", they're both eldest brothers who are ride-or-die over a Bad Call, they both have such bravado,,,

something something john actually being able to relax a little, let someone else take care of him for a change, and dickory feeling fluffed by actually being entrusted to do so, not underestimated or looked down on. they'd make each other laugh, neither is too proud to do something ridiculous to get a job done LIKE

Had a thought while making food

My favorite trio is Branch, Poppy, and Floyd so I was trying to think of what their trio name would be, and then I imagined Viva there too and I started thinking about what they all have in common

I’m calling the four of them the Berry Gang, Berry Trio without Viva

(I am not getting into logistics, plz do not correct/debate me bc I will cry)
