thinking about how hal might be walking down the streets of rebuilt coast city one day and he's walking into a coffee shop or something and is suddenly reminded of a classmate who used to love the mom and pop coffee shop just around the corner from his high school, and he forgets, and thinks to himself for just a moment, "I should reconnect with them, see how they're doing." and then he remembers.

it's so funny to me that everybody acts like the joker is the most fucked up & Twisted™ villain ever when black hand like. exists.
nd i don't even mean fandom-wise, i mean in-universe. going back to batman/jl comics after reading nothing but green lantern for a while is WILD. you people are being so dramatic about a couple stabbings and a little explosion here and there. do you have any idea what hal is dealing with rn. that man fucked his dad. POST-MORTEM.

batman in his solo comics: a little bit of an asshole, but overall a sympathetic character who cares deeply about those around him
batman in team comics: the worst person you could ever meet. just the absolute fucking worst. who keeps inviting this guy?

never forget peter parker having to tell johnny storm he’s spider-man during a hostage situation at the high school. after he’d somehow kept that a secret for the 10 years they’ve worked together and had rendezvous on the statue of liberty.

THIS is peak Kamen Rider right here. Even Lango seemed impressed by the speech.
It's hard to put into words how a scene like this makes me feel. It's so... refreshing. So much of popular media right now is so irony poisoned, so ashamed of itself, so afraid of taking itself too seriously for fear of being called cringe. Created by people who are embarrassed to be making a "comic book movie" or something like that, who feel the need to take the piss out of it preemptively so nobody has a chance to make fun of them or whatever.
But then you have a show like this. And it doesn't care. It's fully earnest and sincere. It's heartfelt. It is what it is. It doesn't care if you think it's corny or cheesy or juvenile. It's a scene of a character saying "I have value and my life matters because of the people who are important to me and the positive impact we've had on each other" and getting fucking super powers from that declaration. And tongue is confidently out of cheek. The actor is throwing himself entirely into the role and performing the lines with no hesitation. And it's just incredible.
This is what we need right now.

you. batman fan saying your male fave would sooo totally be a star sapphire. without looking it up, name three actual, canonical members of the star sapphire corps*. you have two minutes. for every wrong answer, i will take a shot at jason todd
* i know this will be difficult for you, as these three characters will be women, but it is possible
