Honestly, probably everything I write is OOC to some degree or other, depending on who you ask.

Consortio. I love it, it's slightly OOC because of Hannibal, but not enough that it upsets anyone who reads it. I feel like I've written things that are much better, but it seems to get the most love.

It's petty, but. I wish someone had noticed Red River Valley in "Soul Mates."

I'm not like that. I might get momentarily irritated, but in the end, I'm better off.

Anything heaving. I've read far too many bodice-rippers to be comfortable seeing heaving anything in the context of smutty smut.

sentence structure and word choice. When I first began, everything was relatively simple structure, he said this, she said that, he did this, he did that. I've evolved.

Um, probably a lot of places that I haven't ever noticed or really thought about. One of the obvious places was when I wrote for "Smallville," my fascination with and knowledge of the Greek myths probably seeped in a bit more than it should have, but that was already a characteristic that the show's canon had introduced, I just ran a bit with it.

This. Memes, tumblr, askboxing, that kind of thing. I've also cleaned the house, done laundry, and soent a few hours on Youtube.

Meat Loaf is sincerely unappreciated in his own time. The three collaborations with Jim Steinman (RIP) are full of classics, and Bat Out of Hell 2: Back Into Hell was pretty much the soundtrack to my teenage and young adult angsty bullshit. I got into Meat on two paths, Rocky Horror (Meat played Eddie!) and through my shitheel ex. But I don't hold that against him.

Kent Cashion, World Civ 1 & 2. Best teacher I've ever had. He wasn't that much older than most of us in the class (we were in our twenties, he was about thirty-something, and given that I'm 44 now, he's probably 55 or so), and the thing that made his classes the ones everybody wanted was his personality. He was smart, funny, handsome, and engaging. And if you showed even the SLIGHTEST interest in the subject matter, he was willing to spend all the time in the world with you. And he didn't just do lively class discussion, he brought things in. Like, for the unit on the Henrys, we were studying Agincourt and he brought in Kenneth Branagh's Henry V for us and played us the Battle of Agincourt to give us an idea of what the actual battle might've been like.

It's Complicated (tm)  I like boys and girls, but I don't want to be touched.  At all.  Anywhere except maybe my hair.  I'm a cuddle fiend, I will touch and pet and brush hair and give head all you want, but keep your penetrative parts very far away from me otherwise.

20. What is something you’re obsessed with? Superman, not surprisingly.  I tuned out after the late 90s, after they killed Supes and brought him back.  I think my last purchase was the Superman/Lois Lane wedding album.  

21. Describe your best friend. Oh, man.  She's my sister from another mister.  Hakuna Matata is our theme song; she's funny, she's sarcastic and witty, smart as hell.  I wish I could be her.  She's stronger than she gives herself credit for, and even though she's very world-weary in a lot of ways (like me), she's taught me how to find delight in the small things and that sometimes, real friendship can stand one of you (me) going silent and then being forgiven and picking up like nothing ever happened.

1. Favorite place to write.     Home, in my bedroom. 2. Favorite part of writing.     That moment when you hit your stride and suddenly it's three thousand words later and where the FUCK did that plot twist come from anyway? 3. Least favorite part of writing.     Those interminable hours of trying to get the blank page to fill up. 4. Do you have writing habits or rituals?     Drink (usually cold, Coke is fave, milk and/or OJ is also good) by my elbow, music or TV on in the background (I've got a billion Spotify playlists), and a cat pacing on my keyboard. 5. Books or authors that influenced your style the most.     J.R. Ward.  I finally loosened up a little bit in my style because her prose is so informal when she's writing about the Brotherhood that I've realized I could do the same thing to make my characters more relatable. 6. Favorite character you ever created.     Beth Holden.  She's a Buffy the Vampire Slayer original character, and I absolutely adore the shit out of her. 7. Favorite author.     I've got a few.  Gaiman, Koontz, King, GRRM.  Molly Harper, Nanch Haddock. 8. Favorite trope to write.     I'm fond of first-time. 9. Least favorite trope to write.     AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED. 10. Pick a writer to co-write a book with and tell us what you’d write about.     I'm copping out and saying I'd never co-write again. Did it once with my ex-gf, and it was an awesomely amazing experience, but I think it was our relationship and our friendship that supported everything we did.  We had an incredible rapport, and while I adore all my writing partners (looking at you, @alisonleeh​) I just haven't found that same synchronicity with anyone else.  She and I could switch back and forth with each other's parts, and you couldn't really tell the difference.  I'll never find that again, and so, I won't co-write.   11. Describe your writing process from scratch to finish.    You know the post with all the gifs?  That's pretty much the process.   12. How do you deal with self-doubts?     I dunno.  When I deal, I'll let you know.  As of now, they just sort of sit there and eat me alive until I shove 'em down again. 13. How do you deal with writers block?    Binge reading.  Like, my old favorite dog-eared paperbacks that I've already read a billion times. 14. What’s the most research you ever put into a book?    I did some serious Holocaust research for a novella, Shoah.  That... that was a lot. 15. Where does your inspiration come from?     Everywhere.  I have literally seen a fascinating looking cloud and thought, "Character X would be describing that to Y."   16. Where do you take your motivation from?     It's funny, but it's less motivation than need.  If I'm not writing, then I'm miserable.  Even if I don't share it, even if I don't finish something, as long as I'm writing, I'm happy. 17. On average, how much writing do you get done in a day?     Depends on the day, because I don't actually write every day.  I don't always have the time.  But on a good, average day, I can kick out about a thousand words.  Roughly three pages. 18. What’s your revision or rewriting process like?     If I've written it on paper, which I do a lot, I take a red pencil or pen and start from the first sentence.  I rewrite, I re-locate sentences, then I type it up.  And I edit as I type; if something doesn't sound right, I go back and reword it until I'm happy.  Then I'll have someone I trust look it over, and take whatever notes they give me into consideration.  Sometimes I follow it, sometimes I don't.   19. First line of a WIP you’re working on.

"Oh, God, Eliot!" The blood was spreading ungodly fast, soaking the crisp white vest and turning the beige shirt crimson.

20. Post a snippet of a WIP you’re working on.

My name is Roxy, and I work Narcotics.  My partner’s an okay guy, Deke Fredericks.  His taste in music leaves a lot to be desired, and he sings worse than I do.  But at least he showers regularly.  That helps a lot, when you’re spending whole shifts locked up together in a hot car or a cargo hold that’s not air conditioned.  

Me and Fredericks have a pretty good record, all things considered.  We always find the goods, we get the bad guy, and we’ve both gotten commendations.  

We went through Narc training together, and he’s the only partner I’ve ever worked with.  For a guy, he’s really not so bad.  He even quit smoking during training because the smoke irritated me.  Thoughtful, you know?

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, though.  He’s been shot, and that was rough.  Really rough.  He took the bullet for me, and I’ve done the same for him.  We’ve both got shrapnel in our legs, though his was from Afghanistan and mine’s from a faulty detonator in a suitcase full of cocaine.  

But he’s my partner, no matter what, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him.  

“Roxy!”

There he is.

My four feet hit the ground, and I take off.

Post the last sentence you wrote in one of your WIP’s.       His tongue licked into the angel's parted lips, and he was embarrassed to groan softly when Aziraphale's hands slid inside his jacket to pull him close. 22. How many drafts do you need until you’re satisfied and a project is ultimately done for you?     Technically, 1, because my first digital draft is where I do all my work. 23. Single or multi POV, and why?     Single omniscient.  It's just what I've always written.  Sticking in one POV has its challenges and rewards, but I tend to stray out of a single POV, so Omniscient works best. 24. Poetry or prose, and why?     Prose, because I'm better at it. 25. Linear or non-linear, and why?    Linear with flashbacks as necessary.  Because any other ways is confusing as fuck-all for me, much less anyone trying to read. 26. Standalone or series, and why?     Both have their merits.  I like a series because I can keep exploring, concentrate on backgrounds or other events.  But I also like stand-alones because they're one and done, and then you move on.  I'd say stand-alone, because that's most of what I write. 27. Do you share rough drafts or do you wait until it’s all polished?     Usually until I've done my first polish, and then I pass it on. 28. And who do you share them with?     One of a few of my best friends.  They're honest, but they're also nice about it.  If something sucks, they don't hesitate to say, "this sucks, but here's why and here's how you might fix it."   29. Who do you write for?     Myself, and the proof of it is the absolutely STAGGERING amount of things I've written that nobody's ever going to get to read. 30. Favorite line you’ve ever written.     "Don't make me stab you with my fork."  It's funnier in context, but I love it anyway. 31. Hardest character to write.     Ever?  Teal'C, from Stargate. 32. A spoiler for story _________.     Deke and Roxy are gonna get caught in an undercover op. 37. Most inspirational quote you’ve ever read or heard that’s still important to you. "You know, Thomas Edison tried and failed nearly 2,000 times to develop the carbonized cotton-thread filament for the incandescent light bulb.  And when asked about it, he said "I didn't fail; I found out 2,000 ways how not to make a light bulb," but he only needed one way to make it work."  It's from National Treasure, and I don't know if it's an actual Edison quote or not, but it speaks to me. 38. If so, what did they think of it?     I shared Roxy with my Mom, and she loved it so much she's constantly hounding me for updates. 39. Do you base your characters of real people or not? If so, tell us about one.     I try not to, although I do know a little bit of me is in all of them. 40. Original Fiction or Fanfiction, and why?     Fanfiction.  It's nice, because you already have a world built (even if it's an AU, there's still an expected shared canon) and all you have to do is populate it with characters and stories. 41. How many stories do you work on at one time?     Two or three, usually in different fandoms. 42. How do you figure out your characters looks, personality, etc.     I used to do a lot of roleplaying, and there's a literal fuckton of character sheets out there.  So I kind of read over the old sheets and worksheets, decide the bones of the character, and fill out the details for my own reference.  Sometimes I can work them in, sometimes not. 43. Are you an avid reader?    Heck yes.   just finished the Jane Hawk series by Dean Koontz (not my cuppa, but pretty good books nonetheless) and I'm working on The Icon Thief, rereading Catalyst: A Rogue One Story, and my old faithful favorite, The Vulcan Academy Murders by Jean Lorrah. 44. Best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.     It was on a recent piece, and the gist was basically, this story stripped me of eloquence but I have to tell you somehow how much I love it. 45. Worst piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.     That my keyboard should be smashed and my pencils taken away because I sucked as a writer and would never get better. 46. Do you start with characters or plot when working on a new story?     Depends on the story.  Usually it's plot, but I've been known to just decide "okay, I'm gonna write about X and Y today" and it resolves itself. 48. 1. What was your first fic and could you stand to reread it today?

Jesus Lord, no.  I’d die of secondhand embarrassment before I got halfway through it.  It was never published online, thank Christ.  It was called … ugh, I don’t remember what I called it, but it was a line from Edmund Spenser.  (Don’t judge.)  It was an OC female character and Autolycus, from Hercules and Xena, played by Bruce Campbell.  It was… a SHAMBLES.  Self-insert, wish-fulfillment of the worst kind.  But, my friend Alicia read it at the time and she told me how great she thought it was, and I should keep at it.  So, thank you, Edmund-Spenser-titled-fic.

2. What’s your most recent fic and how far do you think you’ve come?
