SCP Archives is an anthology fiction podcast with weekly, full-cast production of the most popular stories from scp-wiki.com and the remarkable community that spawned them. This show has some really gripping and genuinely unnerving stories, and I think the framing device is rather genius. Wrapping bizarre and anomalous objects/phenomena with bureaucratic reports brings a level of realism that grounds the story and makes it stick around long after you’ve finished listening. I mentioned above it’s hard for me to do horror, so you might not be surprised that I only listened to one episode of this show, which was SCP-2316: “The Bodies in the Water.” . I really love the sound design that came in alongside the narrative first-person encounter with the SCP. It’s not easy to pick and choose SFX (or time them!) when you have a voice actor narrating a character’s actions, but the ones Pacific chose absolutely hit the spot and enhanced the creepiness. It was great! It was also scary! If you want a taste of the show, SCP-2316 is a fine place to jump in. Transcripts for the show are here.
