Album Review: Genesis by Baby Bugs
Requested by Dexhatesnormies (it/xim) my wonderful partner <5
Side note: I love the album cover, its so freaky /pos
TW FOR:
Cannibalism Depression Abuse Religion Swearing
I asked in a server I'm in with my partner whether they wanted a song analysis or an album review. More people said album review and one person gave a request, that being my partner.
I listened to it while walking at night and wow this is a depressing yet brutal listen. The vocals are so pained and so genuine, and the instrumentals are either hard hitting rock bangers or soft stripped back guitar. The lyrics in this album are so intriguing but for the most part I wont go too deep into them, as I'm no analyst.
Every song I've heard from this artist has been really well done, they feel like cries for help while also being really nice pieces of music.
I will give a short sentence or two for every song on the tracklist and give my final full thoughts and score at the end.
I am not biased because my partner likes this album, I genuinely do like this utterly gut wrenching project. Enjoy the review!!
PART 1: THE SONGS
AUTOTHEIST ★
SHORT THOUGHTS: RAHHHHH THIS SONG IS SUCH A BANGER. Genuinely garnered such a strong reaction from me. Goddamn this song is so good. Probably my favorite on the album. Its such a fuck you to religion I love that. Immediate playlister.
PRETTY FOR YOU:
SHORT THOUGHTS: This song is so fucked up but I love fucked up music so this song is great. The lyrics are powerful as they are sad. Its basically about someone trying to make themselves perfect for their partner, destroying who they are in the process. A real and soul crushing thing lots of people in unhealthy relationships face.
SINAHOLIC:
SHORT THOUGHTS: This one is such a fuck you anthem I love songs like this. Not much to say here, I really like it.
DRESS UP DOLL:
SHORT THOUGHTS: GOD THE VOCALS ON THIS PROJECT ARE SO GOOD. Baby Bugs is such a diverse vocalist, it kills it on this one.
ANGELS:
SHORT THOUGHTS: This is the song I have the least to say about. THE VOCALS ARE SO GOOD THOOO I LIKE IT.
I just wanted to put a transitional photo here whoops
PUPPETEER:
SHORT THOUGHTS: A banger. This person can fucking make a banger and also make it fucked up. I love the production on this album and it was all done by baby Bugs. They're a very impressive artist!
TEDDY BEAR SYNDROME
SHORT THOUGHTS: I really hope the person who made this album is in a better place right now. This song is gut wrenching, just a stripped back vent. What a song /pos.
CANNIBAL GIRLFRIEND
SHORT THOUGHTS: RAHHH GIRL THAT EATS PEOPLE. This song goes crazy though its probably got some dark deeper meaning but RAHHH YEAHHH CANNIBAL GIRLFRIEND.
TAPEWORMS:
SHORT THOUGHTS: Similar style to Teddy Bear Syndrome, no flashy guitar just pure deep poetry. I hope this album helped Bowie's mental health. This album is so good.
I TOLD YOU SO:
SHORT THOUGHTS: I like it, I wish it went on a little longer. Probably if I had to pick this would be my least favorite.
PART 2: FULL THOUGHTS
This album was a ride, 26 minutes of really good rock music. I'm definitely gonna listen to this again at some point, I really really enjoyed this listen! It's a very depressing deep album made with care and a genuine passion in the lyrics and production.
Goddamn this album is sad, but that is not a point against it. This album is a work of fucking art and MASSIVELY underrated. Give this album a listen if you can. Thank you to my partner DEXXX for recommending this to me, follow it!!
My only real issues were I wish it was longer, I feel like it needed more songs to fill the story but I love the story they told in this album.
Favorite songs: Autotheist ★, Sinaholic, Puppeteer, Teddy bear Syndrome, Cannibal Girlfriend, Tapeworms.
Least favorite song: I told you so
SCORE: 8/10
Listen to the album here: Genesis

All The Stars are closer...
I was listening to the song "All the Stars" by Kendrick Lamar and SZA that was made for the black panther movie and I noticed something rather odd. There are two very different versions of the song. Not just a clean version, its a whole new verse from SZA.
There's the single version, and then the soundtrack version.
The Kendrick Lamar verse is identical in both versions from what I can tell.
I don't claim to know how to dissect music, so this will be very amateurish. This however really caught my interest and so I'm posting about it. This is all my interpretation and this very likely may not be what the song is about, this is what I gathered from the lyrics.
My personal opinion of the song is that I LOVE it, it's so good and it was made for such a great movie. Kendrick was outperformed in every way by SZA (I'm saying this as a massive Kendrick fan).
Overall for the song itself I give it a 9/10, both versions are in my playlist.
Here are the lyrics for the single version of SZA's verse:
_____________________________________________________________
Skin covered in ego
Get to talkin, I get involved, like a rebound
No control, no off switch
And the way that you bringin' me down
It's a turn on, get it away from me
Know you mean wrong, keep away from me
And it sound wrong, get it away from me, yeah
I ain't just cry for no reason
I ain't just pray for no reason
I just thank for the life, for the days, for the hours
And another life breathin'
I did it all 'cause it feel good
You'd leave it all if it feel bad
Better live your life
We were running out of time
______________________________________________________________
Now, here are the lyrics to the album version of SZA's verse:
______________________________________________________________
Skin covered in ego
Get to talkin' like ya involved, like a rebound
Got no end game, got no ways out, got to stay down
It's the way that you making me feel
Like nobody ever loved me like you do, you do
You kinda feeling like you're tryna get away from me
If you do, I won't move
I ain't just cry for no reason, I ain't just pray for no reason
I give thanks for the days, for the hours
And another way, another life breathin'
I did it all 'cause it feel good
I wouldn't do it at all if it feel bad
Better live your life
We're runnin' out of time
______________________________________________________________
There are a couple differences in these two verses, the main sort of structure is the same but the lyrics are strangely different.
Lets start with the first main difference, this is the single version again
No control, no off switch And the way that you bringin' me down It's a turn on, get it away from me Know you mean wrong, keep away from me And it sound wrong, get it away from me, yeah
This section changes to something completely different in the album version
Got no end game, got no ways out, got to stay down It's the way that you making me feel Like nobody ever loved me like you do, you do You kinda feeling like you're tryna get away from me If you do, I won't move
Its very strange, it goes from a verse of SZA knowing that her partner means wrong and pushing them away, to a verse about SZA knowing that her partner is distancing themselves from her and is proclaiming that she wont force them to stay.
Its like two COMPLETELY different perspectives, almost like these are two separate people in a failing relationship sung by the same person. Kind of like the song "In your eyes" by The Weeknd (I no longer listen to him but this is a good comparison I promise.)
In that song, each verse is from two different people in a relationship. One is acting oblivious to the other person's wrongdoing because they don't wanna be alone and they still love them, as the other person proclaims that they still love them and will never let them know what they've done not knowing the other person is very much aware.
Now, lets go into the other differences between the two versions of "All the stars"
Difference two of three is a very subtle difference, this is the single version:
You'd leave it all if it feel bad
This is the album version:
I wouldn't do it at all if it feel bad
This difference very obviously is told in two different people's viewpoints. I mean one is literally the opposite of the other. One saying that the other would leave if things got too bad, and the other person saying that they wouldn't do it at all if it felt bad.
I don't entirely understand why she did this with the verses. These are both the same song and it isn't like its a clean version or anything, as Kendrick's verse has the "motherfucker I don't even like you" in both of them.
Then we get to the final difference in the SZA verse, this one is the most subtle but also the most interesting. This is the single version:
We were running out of time
This is the album version
We're running out of time
Such a subtle change but wow it packs a punch. The first of the two is saying "we were running out of time" I interpret this as showing this person knew for a while this relationship was failing, as the "we were" implies past tense. The second version says "We're running out of time" or "We are running out of time" as if they just realized the relationship doesn't have much time left. One has kind of known for a while, and the other just realized how little time all of this has.
This is all incredibly amateur analysis, none of this may be correct and I may just be a complete idiot. That's how I interpret this song personally and I just wanted to go on a rant.
Anyway "All of the stars" by Ed Sheeran clears k thx bai!!
All images beside the final one are images from the "All the Stars" music video Final image is the single cover for the song "All The Stars"

People who encourage and feed into delusional attachments, do not interact with me! You're anti-recovery and I don't want to see that shit!
This includes:
Calling DAs by the name of the character they're delusional attached to
referring to the character as the person that's delusionally attached to them
refusing to separate the character from the person
Agreeing or otherwise confirming that you believe these people are the characters they say they are.
Does this mean I want you to go out of your way and find DAs and tell them what they're experiencing is a delusion? No! Reality-checking and denying the existence of these beliefs is JUST AS HARMFUL as encouraging them. Encouraging and feeding into these beliefs is JUST AS HARMFUL as denying and reality-checking them.
As someone who experiences episodic delusions (due to bpd) it is so gross how often I see people feeding into delusions and ultimately making it harder for DAs to recover. It's gross! And I don't want anyone that participates in this shit to interact with me. Ever!!
Also, I'd like to add, if you have to ask yourself if something is a delusion or not, or you have to wonder. Or if while experiencing the delusion you at all think "this might be a delusion", it's probably not a delusion.

Album review: Björk's Vespertine
This is my first real post here!
So, I'm a huge music fan. I love music and its helped me through very tough times in my life. This review will be discussing my second favorite album of all time, Vespertine by Björk!
Lets go back to my first listen to this project, back earlier this year I didn't really get Björk, I thought her voice was just not my thing. Then I finished this album, and its risen to be my second favorite album of all time.
Even with the amount of love this album gets, it’s still underrated.
This is in my top favorite albums of all time, one of the greatest things in music and my favorite pop album.
The number one praise I can give the album, the production, it’s perfect. It’s so otherworldly and futuristic, if Homogenic is her “Kid A” this is her "In Rainbows."
“Hidden Place” is so hypnotic, it sounds absolutely fucking gorgeous and alive. This song is one of my favorite songs of all time. The production is nice and
“Cocoon” is a weird one. It’s so raw and weird, I really really like it, but it’s probably my least favorite on the record.
“It’s not up to you” is another HIGH HIGH point. If you asked me a couple months ago I’d say this is the best song she’s ever put out and one of the best songs in general. It’s no longer my favorite on the record but it’s top 3.
“Undo” is a track I underrated on first listen. Such a gorgeous fun motivational track. Definitely very high on the album for me. "it's not meant to be a strife, its not meant to be a struggle uphill."
“Pagan Poetry” is a basic pick for best on the album but I can’t help it. Pagan Poetry might be my favorite song of all time, I don’t know though, the answer to that question changes all the time. The best part of the song is right before the end where she starts screaming Gibberish and it’s so oh my god how can you make complete nonsense sound so powerful.
“Frosti” is nice.
“Aurora” is a gorgeous track that I really really like!
“An Echo, A Stain” is a haunting track, definitely underrated as far as the album goes.
“Sun In my mouth” is a nice little song, I like it!!
“Heirloom” is underrated, really really nice track!
“Harm Of Will” is just a really pretty track, I say that about all these but it’s really true.
“Unison” is a SYMPHONY. That song is absolutely gorgeous and deserves the title as one of the best album closers of all time.
All in all, the whole album has climbed up my ranks in terms of the best albums I’ve ever heard. It’s definitely not for everybody but it’s an experience.
Favorite tracks: Hidden Place, It’s not Up to you, Undo, Pagan Poetry (standout), An Echo A Stain, Heirloom, Unison. Least Favorite track: Cocoon
10/10
