I'm making my own post for this. I have been talking a lot about the censorship of payment processors and the recent banning of NSFW/queer/taboo content on itch.io and steam. I want to scream as an artist witnessing the growing meddling of payment processors as they strangle out the art that we are aloud to make and profit off of. HC’s for Celine and Rumi pre- and post-movie?

Hi Anon! You're my first ask so thank you! So exciting!

Pre-Movie

- Rumi used to be really cuddly and clingy as a kid but due to Celine's attitude towards her patterns, I think it probably would've been around puberty (a shameful time for all of us) when they started growing and she started to distance herself.

- Rumi never had a rebellious phase. 1. Celine would never allow that (she missed the memo on what a "rebellious phase" was) and 2. Was very sheltered so she never even knew rebelling was a thing kids did. She just thought it was one of those things that only exist in movies

- Teen Rumi got a very clinical version of the "talk" from a very unaware closeted lesbian, so it wasn't awkward. But young queer Rumi asking "well what if it's two girls?" Causes Celine to short circuit and end the lesson

- young Rumi loved tea parties and princess play, so Celine would work little kid PR training into it. Had a little 8 year old on her hands that could bring a politician to his knees with her diplomacy

- They were each other's best friends during Rumi's childhood, and even into her teen years as she started shutting herself off from everyone including Celine

- Celine never once made Rumi feel bad for her weight, her looks, her interests, none of it. It was just the patterns and all of the pressure of the Golden Honmoon, and I've compared Celine to Gwendolyn Clawthorne from The Owl House before. It was from a place of genuinely wanting to help but all she ever needed to do was love and accept that part of Rumi. She never thought there was anything wrong with Rumi, there was something wrong with the patterns, but she couldn't align in her mind how the two can't really be separated. So all of her attempts at "helping" Rumi ended up making her patterns grow and hurting her even more which we see in the movie (and when I say "just the patterns" that is not to diminish the trauma that feeling like a part of your DNA is inherently evil and predisposes you to evil causes, like wooo boy that's not fun)

- Celine started braiding Rumi's hair once it was long enough, a fun activity that kept Rumi still and content, and Rumi liked having hair like her mom, and Celine began looking forward to doing it every time. Rumi grew to feel like it was an expectation of her to keep the braid so she did, even if she didn't feel like it was her that much anymore

- Celine never needed to raise her voice to Rumi, the girl folds under a harsh or disappointed glare like paper, but she also never really did much to warrant disciplining

Post-movie

- Directly after the movie, she is blowing Bobby's phone the fuck up. She's worried sick (no like actually, she has been in her bathroom for hours), and already working with him on damage control, making sure that any injured fans are taken care of, and most importantly that all three of the girls are okay. She keeps texting him every fifteen minutes (she times it) to make sure the girls are okay and he asks wonders why she doesn't just text them herself but hey, that's why he makes 3%

- When they finally meet again, it's because Rumi wanted to bring the girls and talk about everything. Rumi reached out first after about a month. She comes back with cut hair down to her shoulders (wrote a fic about that if you go to my AO3), and her shimmering patterns are still slightly purple. It starts out awkward, everyone standing in the garden by the Tree TM. And Celine is staring hard at Rumi's patterns, forcing herself to look at her, to see her. All of her. And she just starts crying the ugliest the girls have ever seen her cry, apologizing profusely on her hands and knees "nothing has ever made me happier than raising you, you are the brightest thing in my life and I'm so sorry I made you feel like you weren't, I have never ever been anything but so proud of you, of all of you. I love you girls more than anything and I'm so sorry I made you feel like you weren't" and yeah everyone's crying shit I'm crying thinking about it

- She tells Rumi she likes her new hair, seeing her for the girl she is and not the girl she felt she had to be

- Celine fully trusts the girls with the Honmoon, and will always be there to guide them but she gives up a lot of her Trainer and Mentor side of her to focus on being the Mom she should've been to the girls before, especially to Rumi

- She's very much the overbearing mom now, always checking in (are you eating? Drinking? Sunscreen? Did you make sure to bring a jacket?) she's always making desserts for the girls, bringing them home cooked meals sometimes and other days they go to her house for dinners, it's a little awkward at first because she is really trying and the girls kind of give her a talk about how she doesn't need to push herself. Imagine like trying to make a huge giant five course meal and everything goes wrong type of deal

- They all go to a film festival with Celine at some point and she is beaming, getting to spend time with them around a bunch of other people in the film industry and watching movies together

- She records a song with the girls, a feature that isn't mentioned and her verse is a surprise to fans. It's a song about the passing of time and telling the people you love that you love them while you can, it's called "Carpe Diem" (which I know sounds cheesy but like in my mind it goes hard)

Hi!

So...

I am Korean American. I'm from an all Korean household, and I love my mom a lot. I also acknowledge that I've been terribly hurt by her at many instances and that has viscerally changed how I treat myself in the world. But, that doesn't mean I don't love her. Or appreciate her efforts to do the best for me. A lot of this was written on my gripes with the KPDH fandom and their demonization of Celine, and my own conversations of self reflection with my own mother.

The contrast of; What they thought was best vs The outcome. The frustrations on both sides and how the other feels- The guilt and shame that neither side knows how to handle- But a hope at the end for progress and helping the other out as a peer.

i know it's easy to hate celine, but i am interested in her in the sense that, from her point of view, it could not have been easy to take rumi in and raise her. celine's entire world revolved around slaying demons. demons were unfeeling monsters who fed off human souls; they were the enemy. but then one of your bandmates--your friend--goes off and not only falls in love with one but has a baby. then she dies. celine's left making a promise to take care of and love the one thing she's known for years can never be loved or feel love.

how many times did she look at rumi and see rumi's mother? how many times did she see rumi's patterns and have to remind herself that she's just a child? do you think she blamed rumi for her mother's death?

it's easy to hate celine because we know nothing about her, but she has the capacity to be a very interesting and complex character. i hope we see more of her in the future.

imagine celine fighting off demons as the only sunlight sister left- with miyeong dead and the third member seemingly disappearing from the spotlight, all the responsibilities of being the last idol from the group as well as being the sole hunter left on her shoulders.

imagine having motherhood suddenly thrust upon her, the child the daughter of her best friend, with blood of the demons she's been taught to hate, to kill without mercy.

imagine her hearing rumi cry for the first time and realising this innocent child is her only reason to keep going.

imagine all the days celine spent torn and bloody grasping onto child rumi, as she destroys all the demons coming at her. It's not like she can leave rumi alone every night and go off to defend the country. celine would have no choice but to fight with rumi in her hands at times when the demons surprise her.

imagine this half demon girl in her fear manifesting some of her demonic traits, with small yet sharp claws digging raw into celine's shoulders, all while celine is trying to protect them both. the irony that with rumi's scared cries comes more tears to the honmoon.

imagine celine trying to soothe rumi even after all the hurt that rumi's claws cause her, she sings in a gentle voice, one hand patting the rhythm of the song onto her back, the other holding her weapon that's frantically waving off the oncoming surge of demons.

imagine after the battle is finally won, celine still holding onto rumi, who's now wrapped in celine's oversized jacket, and is walking them back home under the cover of a moonless night. celine having to patch herself up, because how can she, a famous idol, explain this to a doctor. celine who was so used to having her members, her sisters by her side, needing to stitch her wounds without their help.

imagine celine holding no resentment towards rumi for this, but rather deep anguish at her new reality. she knows it's not rumi's fault, but she blames herself for not teaching rumi to control her voice, her emotions well enough. celine knows rumi is too young to have an understanding of her own power, but she also knows that rumi is not like any other child.

imagine after nights like these, celine and rumi sharing a bed, both needing the warmth and comfort of each other, even if celine would never admit it, she needs rumi in her sight for her own peace of mind. celine doesn't know how to be a mother, how to comfort the girl after these experiences - she can't even comfort herself, but she is there when rumi still clings to her.

imagine this not being an isolated event but something that occurs more often in rumi's childhood. it gets better as she ages, of course, rumi is able to suppress her fears better, she learns the sword well, and celine is no longer alone in her fights with the demons. but still, after hard days, the presence of each other is reassuring, even when their relationship grows a bit more distant with every new mark on rumi's skin.

imagine weeks after the idol awards rumi coming back to celine because yes even though she's hurting, she misses celine's presence. celine was all she had for most of her life and she wants that quiet solace that only celine can bring. imagine celine's relief at seeing her daughter, (yes her daughter, even if she wouldn't say that out loud), at her doorstep, all the tension she held during those weeks of silence being released. nothing can ever be the same, and yet they still try again.

You are a fan of internationally-acclaimed K-pop group Huntrix. They drop a new single to wild success and its debut performance is canceled without clear explanation. Huntrix's management says something about a medical condition with the lead singer.

At the same time a new boyband debuts with a song that tops all the charts. The boyband doesn't seem to have a management company. Or names. Maybe that doesn't matter because their sound IS catchy. Huntrix is completely out of the public eye except for two appearances alongside this new boyband where they are there exclusively to beef. It's maybe a PR stunt. It's maybe because Rumi is exes with one of the only two named members of the Saja Boys.

People start going missing at a rate 4x the national average. You probably wouldn't even know about this except that 3 of the missing people were big names on Stan Twitter so it's kind of a big deal. There are four different high-traction posts claiming all the recent missing people were Saja Boy fans. But that's like claiming all the recent missing people drank water and breathed air.

Rumi is still on medical leave but Huntrix management is saying Huntrix WILL be at the K-pop Awards. Someone on Twitter's uncle's friend works in a recording studio and he says Huntrix is debuting a song which tells the Saja Boys to die. The exes theory gets a lot of traction. Twitter tries to doxx Jinu to confirm the theory but no one can figure out who he is. Twitter tries to doxx the other Saja Boys to the same lack of success. One account said she had "a lead" but her Twitter has been silent for 72 hours since.

Rumi is back from medical leave for the K-pop Awards just in time to have a massive falling-out and break-up on stage. This probably devastated you but you don't really remember it. The Saja Boys invite everyone to a concert. A lot of people who went don't remember going, and you'd call that suspicious except you also went and don't remember going.

Somehow no one in the crowd of 10,000 thought to record the concert on their phone. Maybe there was a "no phones" rule but usually there are still leaks. No one has any video or photo evidence of this concert happening. However you all collectively remember hearing "What It Sounds Like" at the concert (before it debuted 4 days later from Huntrix's label.) This does not make a lot of sense because this was a Saja Boys concert, supposedly. Someone says they saw Zoey impale at least one of the Saja Boys. You would brush this off as a stupid rumor but 2-dozen other people are saying the same thing and you a little bit remember it too.

There's a lot of people saying "Let's wait for an official statement from the Saja Boys" on Twitter but they've been saying that for 2 weeks now and no one has seen or heard from them since the concert. There's a lot of people saying "Zoey killed them fr" which was a joke at first and now, is not not a joke, but it hits a little different.

Most of you are kinda over SB Twitter at this point so you kind of don't care anymore but there are a few remaining fans who've doubled down on the doxxing effort to figure out if they're okay. It's not going well. One person claims to have found Jinu's identity but everyone thinks she's stupid because that guy died literally 400 years ago. YES the royal court's painting of him looks identical and yes that guy was a singer too, but come on, the K-pop look is 90% make-up anyway.

Oh god my time to shine. I'm gonna be insufferable about musicals very dear to my heart so uhh rambling below the cut. And spoilers for kpop demon hunters, the 1995 Jekyll and Hyde musical and Mozart l'Ópera Rock.

These may not even make sense but idc this is for me.

Ok so yes Zoey 10000% Epic girlie. But you know what musical resonates with Rumi? Jekyll and Hyde. Dr. Henry Jekyll with good intentions but a bit of hubris attempts to create A Formula to separate Evil from Good (Ryu Rumi with good intentions but a bit of impatience releases Golden early to get rid of her patterns asap) and it backfires when the formula does exactly as intended and turns him into a monster at random (and it backfires when her patterns behave exactly as expected and spread the more shame she feels and bottles up) and he loses his social life, prestige and lowkey almost his degree (and she almost loses her best friends, voice and lowkey her career).

Of course the ending of that musical is much more bleak than the ending of the actual story, but Rumi probably sees parallels anyways (he wouldn't have lost himself to his other half if he'd just accepted the potential for good and evil in every person, so that he could control his impulses with his conscience and morals) (she wouldnt have lost so much if she'd just accepted her patterns as part of herself from the start, so that she could understand and control her emotions better so they don't hurt the Honmoon) (But the tragedy is that he was never going to learn that lesson without it ruining his life) (But the miracle is that she got to learn thar lesson before it ruined everyone's lives). Specially since she used to see her patterns as an entity other than herself. You cannot tell me she wouldn't sing her heart out to No One Must Ever Know.

AS FOR MIRA!! Zoey took one look and said "i got just the thing for you" and got her to watch Mozart l'Ópera Rock. Now, the lyrics don't hit her as hard as other musicals might, but the music slaps and the aesthetic is peak. What do you mean they turned classical composer Antonio Salieri emo and gave him a number singing about jealousy but with bdsm imagery and innuendos? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY MADE RIVALS TO LOVERS WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART AND ANTONIO SALIERI DOOMED GAYS?? And the fact Mozart kisses like five women and a guy not even 20 minutes into the first song. Yeah. It's fire and Mira finds herself humming Le Bien Qui Fait mal.

I think Zoey really likes musicals because she; loves overly dramatic stuff and the talent involved in writing songs that also move a narrative forward.

Mira is doing a live stream during their hiatus (she does them all the time, they don’t really feel like work) and someone asks what the other members of Huntrix do to pass the time. She walks over to Zoey’s room and Zoey is KILLING a cover of Thunder Bringer from Epic the musical (she’s also doing a whole sexy dance that people joke Zeus was doing during the song) while Rumi is laying on the bed waiting for her parts.

(Zoey makes Rumi play Odysseus during Done For, There are other ways and Would you fall in love with me again. Mira plays Athena’s parts whenever her and Odysseus are in the same song too)

Since I also think Zoey LOVES Glee (she legally has to because she’s a bisexual woman who loves music) I think she got into Starkid’s plays and has made Mira and Rumi watch all of them.
