sorry if this is a weird question, but how do you get started in learning embroidery? (also other question: have you ever done a derse/prospit design?)
not a weird question at all!
if you're anything like me, you'll get started by picking up embroidery for about two weeks, then give up because it's hard and you're not very good at it, only to pick it up again a few years later no longer caring if you're any good at it or not and stubbornly keep making things until the pile of things you're proud of outweighs the pile of things you're disappointed by.
that said, there are a lot of different styles of embroidery, so it just kinda depends on what you're interested in! there's beginner's kits that also work as stitch samplers with floss and patterns, tons of videos (this being the one I link most often) and really no rules about what you have to do. you can use a hoop or you can go sashiko style which is completely freeform.
for me, i got into it after seeing some nature embroidery of starfish and seaweed that looked so unlike any other kind of sewing i'd seen before and i wanted to make things just like it. the spark can come from anywhere, so try it out, see if it's for you!
as to your second question, you've made me realize i have honestly never even thought of doing anything for the lunar sways, and now i have a DELIGHTFUL idea i can't wait to try out 😈 so: not yet, but hopefully soon.

heyoooo ✨
so i don't know how much of a demand there really is for this kind of thing, but I’m going to try and finally make some downloadable PDF booklets to sell with some of the HS aspect designs I've done in the past! it was suggested to me a while back but I just have had like no free time since...last year, pretty much LOL.
ideally, each one will include floss color IDs & some general recommendations in there for supplies I use & how I go about my process in addition to designs, but if there’s anything you specifically hope to see in a homesuck sewing book please let me know 😂
and hey since I’ve got polls now

when I took this picture a few months ago I thought I'd post it as a WIP thing, doubling as a silly little cat picture, but it slipped my mind and i never did. today however i'm posting it in memory, for my cat Molly who unfortunately passed away this week :') he was a great little guy who loved to investigate anything and everything i made, and he will be so missed.

hello folks!!
it took me a while to get around to it, and full disclosure there's not much on there right now, but i do have an online shop for my embroidery 🪡✨
the other caveat is that currently i can't do any overseas shipping, however if you're in the US and interested in some homestuck aspect stuff, new pieces may trickle onto there from time to time.

#did you needle felt it to build up the volume? or did you sew plush to the embroidery hoop?
I hope you don't mind me answering you this way but if anyone else was curious, #2 is the winner! :3 I made a small pillow out of scrap fabric then stitched that into place on the hoop, covered with felt & french knots, and voilà ✨

also made myself a new pincushion! It was supposed to look like moss, but I think I ended up with the Shire instead. (Luckily I still love it either way)
