Been spending a lot of time with my favorite fictitious midwestern small-town public servants lately. (Tried to finish the series before it left Netflix ;_;) Ben and Chris took several tries to capture their likeness, while Leslie and of course Ron took no time flat. Such good, iconic faces.

Alright my dudes, it's time for the inky tobers again and I'm trying it in earnest, again. This time my strat is just to draw one thing, anything, a day. No rules, no prompts. Everything is penciled in first and traced with inks after, cuz I’m over trying to get good enough in this medium to freehand by only doing it 15-30 days in a year.

Day 1′s theme was easy enough, since my family and I celebrate the Moon Festival.

Finally finished my “The Kiss”-inspired Transistor piece! I included some detail shots, the whole thing was done in Illustrator and is 100% vector except for the gold leaf photo (from here) I’ll have it up as a print at some point, I’m printing and adding actual gold paint to the canvas print for the Otakon art show for those going/interested! Still got 4 more pieces to make for the art show welp.

Deep Blue Sea

I decided to attempt mermay since I didn’t do it for past few years and I actually had a blast painting this. I hope that I’ll be able to paint a few mermay themed pieces, but I’ll see how will that go :’D Like usually, done in Photoshop CC with Wacom Cintiq 27QHD. Enjoy!

Covid-Quarantined: Day 12

Friday

had a shot of rye in my coffee cuz TGIF and barely kept abreast of all my responsibilities in a timely fashion in true Misato style

got DRESSED to IMPRESS or to just like, go outside and face the world for 2 hours

went into the office for some onsite work

it was nice seeing some of my coworkers for the first time in 2 weeks

swung by for some beer to have with neighbors later

Hinge Skype call with a dude

arranged a 6ft-apart beer hangout on the lawn with my neighbors cuz one of them is moving away tomorrow :’( 

the distance broke down very quickly the more we drank (the excuse was that we all live in the same building so we’re technically sheltering together) and we eventually ended up inside the downstairs neighbors’ home

more heavy drinking until 1:30am

my neighbors are awesome and while circumstances are far from ideal I’m glad they gave me an opportunity to finally hang out with them :’D

Capped off virtual art night with some Witcher heads.

Covid-quarantine day 11: had a virtual art night with the girls! I went back to my parents’ to pick up all my old art supplies I haven’t used since college, like full sized art pads, charcoal and graphite sticks. Definitely glad to be giving them a second life. Also unearthed some college era drawings! 

Did a series of speed life drawings to these awesome free videos put up by New Masters Academy. They start you out with really fast, gestural 1-minute sketches, then add more time as the video goes on so you can start to render more details. Lol see 1st figure (1 min, haven’t drawn in half a year) vs last figure (10 min). Had a lot of fun! Felt super rusty at first but felt really good doing it.
