no one can ever be the same as you could they ? you’re the one and only shiraishi mai for me ( `she wiggled her brows , chuckling as she held mai’s hands up together following her dramatic play.) I should’ve gotten you a pretty rubber glove for christmas , ones with unique decorations so it would at least look like a pretty thing to bring around with. I certainly do not want such a thing to happen to my precious Maiyan !

possibly at some fancy pâtisserie or clothing store is where you do find a friend like shiraishi mai – « playing along, shiraishi decided to speak in a sort of dramatic tone, then also a faked sob following as she patted reno’s head with care » what would I do… perhaps fishing it out with something? I could ! Nobody ever knows when such a thing can happen.

“Sometimes you need a little bit of thrill in your life !” Reno winked at the other , clicking her tongue. “Hmmm lets see.. what should we get” she muttered , parking her car. “Shall it be my treat ? Since you have suffered so badly the entire ride, my poor Aika must’ve been scared !” she teased the other patting her cheek. “But don’t choose something too expensive, we might not know when I need emergency money in case I get into an accident. We all know looking at the way I drive” Reno unbuckled her seat belt, proceeding to get off the car.

“Do they? I wonder how you’d do with that.” The words sounded like a fairly serious consideration, but she wasn’t sure how serious it actually was. She gave a slightly weak laugh at the feeling, clutching a little at the seat-belt, pouting in return to her friends tongue out. As the car was stopped, she gave an exhale to try to relax herself more and give a more natural smile. “Given that you don’t keep driving like that and make me feel sick, then food would be great.” She teased a little, though still a bit serious.

pervert ? Reno squinted at the male in disbelief. she thought that the saying ‘do not judge a book by it’s cover’ was right at that time. she thought he’d be a nice gentleman now that they have grown up and with that prince-like face of his, but that sure is one nice way to start off a conversation. 

“Why do I have a pervert here calling me a pervert tsk.” with crossed arms and a raised chin, she adjusted her position , frowning as she looked away. Reno felt a leg nudging her’s and she could feel her mother’s glare piercing through her head as the Nam’s laughed it off. “After so many years are you two still going to keep this up ?” her father shook his head as the table soon got filled with laughter. She dare not look at Woohyun’s expression , it’s not like she was scared but it was awkward , her reply sounded childish. should she have just go with a ‘Oh thank you’ or ‘I guess I was’ ? But that would’ve been too boring and it is totally opposite of how she is. Though she wanted to at least sound a little lady-like and mature rather than being aware of the fact that they used to keep fighting and yet, still keep this image of theirs going . Truthfully deep inside , she wanted to impress the other family members , showing them how much she have grown and matured but maybe not this time . 

There were too many things running through her head she couldn’t be bothered to expect or guess how he’ll react. Though she could feel Woohyun’s eyes on her, she shrugged it off as if nothing happened or she didn’t noticed . ‘Please let the ceremony start already’ she clenched one of her fists under the table as she felt herself starting to sweat.

when the other family’s mother had praised him with such remarks, all woohyun could do was smile and nod. it seemed like both families liked to do the same because his parents ended up praising the girl - apparently her name was Reno - to be such a fine and attractive woman.

it seemed like she hasn’t always been this way when the relative suddenly brought up an… interesting story about their childhood. woohyun couldn’t deny the look on her face must have looked similar to his - complete disbelief. no matter how close they were before, how come he had no recollection of it? not that he’s distrusting her credibility but surely, something as… weird as running around naked with your female cousin should be something memorable.

he couldn’t say what should be filtered or what shouldn’t but definitely, this had to be one of those things that was said in private. unable to speak, woohyun only let out a noise and looked down at his pants because lifting his head up would only mean making eye contact with the girl. he was now having second thoughts of possibly dating her. “i’m… not cute…” softly tumbled out of his mouth before he realized how he looked like towards the table - the successful son of the Nams was: unconfident, shy, and most importantly, weak. he couldn’t carry that with his name.

so with a slight tug at his bowtie and a little straightening of his back, he changed his nervous smile into a joking one and glanced at reno. “Yeah, I remember that. You were such a pervert back then.” he snickered, knowing well that the girl would have to rebutt that. at least it opened a door for conversation, he thought, even if they weren’t starting it off again on the correct foot.

Being familiar with the Japanese culture since she had moved there herself before he ever had the chance to visit, Woohyun didn’t think it was ideal to get his cousin a gift from Japan. Still, it was Omiyage for him to bring back something from their homeland. Even more so, it was Christmas and his father insisted on him choosing an Oseibo gift for her too.

Should I consider changing my career ?” Reno abruptly stepped on the brake , causing a loud screech. “Oops” she looked at the other , sticking her tongue out before laughing. Her friend would probably suggest her to retake her driving license again , she thought looking at Aika’s frozen face . “Eh-- how about getting some food now” she bit her lips, letting out an awkward laughter.

“I don’t think fun is the word I’d use to describe it.” Her voice came out as almost a small squeak as Reno sped up again, fiddling uncomfortably with her seat belt. Her friend knew that she didn’t like reckless driving. Either way, she still couldn’t help but laugh a little at the other’s words. “Probably. You’ve really got the fast thing down pat.”

— She felt Yuto’s intense stare when she was giving his egg a brave try . Adverting her eyes to him , she gave the other the exact expression as he gave his own work a try. Let’s say she was a little worried about him being disappointed with the egg he struggled so much to flip , and the time he spent thinking how fried must a ‘fried’ egg be. Thank god, she thought looking at his smile showing that he approved of himself. “Ah, Mr.Nakajima your cooking sure is amazing . I can hardly wait to get special privileges from your five star restaurant. I will invest in your restaurant too , I’m sure many people will love Nakajima’s like-- who wouldn’t die for these eggs !” Reno nodded quite sarcastically , giving him a thumbs up.

—“Not gonna poison you…” Yuto repeated in a whisper, as if he was praying for it, his gaze not leaving her facial expressions. He was so focused on her, the boy’s concerns towards her reaction were obvious. When she finally spoke, he broke his seriousness, a reassured sigh escaping from his lips. “Unique might be the only suitable word for this, I suppose?” A short laughter followed. Grabbing a spoon as well, he mirrored the girl’s moves, tasting what seemed to be the egg he cooked, nodding with an half smile. “As the first one who tasted and approved that amazing Nakajima cuisine, you will have special privileges when I will open my first five star restaurant, how cool is that?” He asked on a joking tone.

Reno frowned at the woman’s words. What did she mean ? Every words the woman said, it almost sounded like she wasn’t at the scene at all . “But you stopped him didn’t you--” she bit her lips and squinted her eyes . Maybe she was just confused but this was not it . “I’m sure you did ! Things wouldn’t be settled so easily . Didn’t you like-- kick the knife off his hand or something like that ?” Reno wasn’t clear about so many things but she was sure that the woman saved her .

reno flaunted her dress , looking in the mirror . she didn’t have time to dress up the entire week , didn’t have time to look pretty when she very well knows she can . and she sure is happy to finally get a break from work and attend a wedding party . she knows very well that ‘vain’ describes her but it was because she used to be called ugly and now that she finally feels good about herself , she just wants to keep feeling pretty. speaking about being called ‘ugly’ there was a flashback of her and a boy as kids . she remembered that he saved her countless times telling the other kids that she wasn’t ugly at all. ‘who was that again ?’ once again , she shrugged off her thoughts and danced to the make up table, doing her make up while humming to tunes that comes to her mind , lastly posing in front of the mirror , she then smiled in satisfaction. a narcissist indeed.

at this point , her mother was rushing her to get out of the private room they borrowed since they rushed right to the wedding venue after getting off a flight from japan. they didn’t even have time to go back home to prepare. “stop rushing me , there isn’t even anybody here yet.” reno frowned at the empty tables then at her mother. “it’s good manners to reach early , you’re a grown up now don’t you know ?” her mother’s nagging then started from there . she was sure the nagging wouldn’t stop til the ceremony but thank god an acquaintance of her mom arrived and they got engaged in a conversation. why hasn’t the ‘nam’ family, mentioned on the placard arrived yet ? she thought in annoyance as the tables started filling up and realizing she has been waiting for almost 2 hour for this place to finally be filled with people. when ‘nam’ family arrived , reno couldn’t be bothered anymore , she only wanted another fruit punch , that’s what she thought . she felt a sharp stare and slowly turned to look at the guy across the table. he looked damn familiar it was giving her a headache from trying to think . it seemed as if she had amnesia or something . reno couldn’t deny that he was pretty attractive , a guy in suit with his hair styled like this , would it hurt to make friends ? there was an urge to talk to the male until her mother exclaimed “oh woohyun how are you ! you’re such a big boy already . you sure became a very handsome man , my dear” she gave him a motherly smile and talked to the other family about how close their children used to be with each other before reno moved to japan . 

reno really did not care since she has pretty much forgotten about this long lost cousin of hers and the conversation wasn’t bothering her until her mom spat “I remember you used to run around with Reno naked too , how cute to see you two like this now !” both the nam’s and kwon’s laughed . reno’s eyes widened , what is she talking about-- this playboy looking cousin running around with her , naked ?

woohyun didn’t absolutely hate suit & tie events, but he didn’t absolutely love it either. sure, they served good food, wine, had great music, provided some good instagram worthy photos but he was spending a week in jeju island with his parents and that meant missing a week, or possibly more, away from YouTube. to prepare for that one week, he had to record a big deal of videos and that meant staying up for 5 days just to play Fallout 4, Call of Duty and Just Cause 3. his assistant would take care of the editing but he was exhausted and he really just didn’t have the mood to be at someone’s happiest occasion at the moment. he just wanted to stay in the hotel all day long and sleep but nope, he had to follow his parents around the island for sightseeing (or purposefully allowing the papparazzi to take photos of them so that the media could report that his celebrity mother was having some family bonding in jeju. it was good pr for her, with the recent rumors flying around that woohyun was close to disowning his family - which by the way is completely false, he makes a mental note to make a video concerning that when he gets back). so when the day of the wedding came and the family’s hired stylist studied his tired face, she had to apply layers of foundation and concealer onto his face. especially his obvious eyebags. not forgetting to put white highlights all over his cheek so his skin would seem at least as healthy as his mother's “remember not to rub your eyes,” she warns and woohyun just groans as he puts on his expensive dolce & gabbana suit.

when they arrive, “Nam & Kwon” is what the placard on their assigned table says so woohyun doesn’t really have a choice but to be seated with a family that his parents claim to be long-time friends with. as it turns out, it’s hard to reconnect with people you’ve long forgotten. of course the jade necklace looked familiar and that wrinkly old smile too but he had his doubts. as they were served the appetizers, the two families talked about their children - which was himself and this girl, sitting from across the table, who had a very sensual and charming aura to her looks. somehow, deep down in woohyun, he didn’t like the fact that he found her attractive when she clearly is. she looked like the type of girl that came to one of his frat parties - probably would have had a quick makeout session with her, if he had met her. but as he slowly finds out, they happened to be cousins as their parents were discussing about how they used to argue all the time.

squinting his eyes at her, she didn’t look like one to throw dirty words around. she was too much dainty and lady-like for that but woohyun immediately casts his eyes back down to his food as he came to realize that her face annoyed him for some reason.
