i hope they never reveal roach’s face, the art i’m looking at has raised my standards so high i fear they’ll never do him right in game

roach sitting on his porch steps during a lightning storm, sipping on a beer that’s chilled only by the winds whipping around him.

counting the seconds in between thunder booms and cheering whenever lightning gets a little too close.

his back rests against an old wooden railing that’s rotting from the inside. it leans too easily when he puts his weight against it and when he takes off his shirt, there’s going to be a million wood pricks latched onto them. it’s free acupuncture, what does he care?

sometimes the rain manages to spray him and before he realizes it, his hair is sticking wetly to his forehead, cheeks, jaw, and curling behind his ears in bundles.

little lamb sits inside by the fireplace, warm and not afraid at all.

imagining roach on a farm with a little lamb in his arms and a flask in his hand. they’re watching the sunset together. he’s talking to the little lamb very softly and nodding his head when it interrupts with a soft baaa.

the metal is warm from his lips and the drink, though weak, is warmer when it settles in him. around him are clumps of grass that he’s plucked mindlessly, and the little lamb is happy for the snack.

roach singing softly to himself as he cleans around the areas. little lamb rests by his side, tripping over itself to lay closer to roach when he starts to get too far.

his cows hear the melody and slowly drift closer. they don’t mind that his voice crackles too much for him to hold a note. they don’t care that it’s off key or that he skips back and forth between verses.

he sets his tools to the side and makes a mental note to sand down the handles before he gets another splinter.

laughs when he realizes that the cows are pressing up against the fence, wanting to hear more. he lays his hands on their snout and the fur feels odd under his thick callouses. sings them something from the radio and swaps the names in the songs for the ones of his cows.

mindlessly he runs his finger along the fence as they follow him. little lamb bleating and hopping all the way down.

In a way Ghost kind of ended up being exactly what his father wanted him to be. A masked, violent man in a group of people who couldn't give less of a fuck about the rule of law and use violence and intimidation to impose their will upon others. He kills with no remorse and tortures people methodically. The only real difference is that Ghost's violence is government approved and is to "protect his country".

Man those comics were weird.

the way that ghost could be such incredible commentary if you actually try. you can buy into the whole shit about him joining after 9/11 all you want but i do not for a second believe that’s the real reason he enlisted. also difficult to think about the downright painful cycle of violence he’s locked himself into. he had a choice to leave and not actively contribute to western imperialism. he has no real personal stake in any of this and i honest to god don’t think he cares about anyone he kills. he’s extremely motivated by revenge but other than that the most overwhelming energy i get from him (in every depiction) is “sorry lol” and that’s the long and short of it. he had innumerable opportunities to become a better man and he didn’t take any of them. he rarely cares when his men are killed and while some of his favouritism is really just inherent to the nature of fps (speaking specifically about mw2 09) he really just doesn’t give a shit. and that apathy is ABSOLUTELY something he learned from his father. i play around with the idea that he enlisted to get away from his dad but ultimately i think what it really was was a slow suicide if that makes sense. i’m touching upon this right now in strzygoń so this ask is timely to say the least lol, but yeah no it‘s insane that ghost spends so much time hating this man when he literally walks into the hell his dad laid out for him. how can you live like that? how can you live without yourself? well. i guess he really couldn‘t, could he?
