I believe it's all an illusion created by asdjkl. Remember when Emma and Ray entered, it brought them to the grace field house and Mom was there with the kids??

I believe it's the same thing here; we don't know exactly what happens that lead to this till the later chapter comes out but perhaps Ray thought he witnessed Emma's death but it was an illusion and she was taken somewhere else by asdjkl

so i started watching RWBY.......i know i should’ve started from when season 1 aired but it never sparked my interest.
