Love in particular the baseball decks subtle details with these two cards. The lightning in Whole New Ballgame is classic Tower. The scoreboard comes down and we can start again. And The Breaks simply has the smile on top and the frown on the bottom but always the same person. So... we’ve spoken before about the fools journey with the major arcana. Where do these guys fit? As the fool progresses through his lessons, he’s reflected and is ready to come back with the Wheel. This card is halfway through the journey and comes after some tough lessons about himself and some major realizations. From there until the Tower he sees the results of earlier actions coming to fruition. As we talked about earlier, these cards are both about change. While people tend to love the Wheel, however, most cringe at the tower. Much more about loss than the Death card, the tower clears things out of our life. We may not be happy to see it but, ultimately, we’ll be grateful it came through. Those changes and losses the Tower brings happen to clear the way for bigger and better things. Both of our cards today speak of change but in drastically different ways. The Wheel of Fortune, Major Arcana Card number ten (X), is a reminder that we all have our moments where we are on top and those when we are not. To see this suggests your luck is turning. That is what makes this one of my favorite cards. It is suggestive of luck, but good or bad? There is an element of hope to me either way because if you are doing well now, yes there may be less sunny days ahead but you’ll come back. Be appreciative of what you’re experiencing now and know it will be back. Going through a rough time? Cheer up, better is coming. To me it’s about being hopeful and grateful all at once. So this morning I made a pledge to myself. I will no longer be loyal to a fault. I will remain intensely loyal to those that deserve it because that’s who I am and I don’t think that’s wrong. But I will no longer take it to a place where it hurts me. Nor will I continue to waste such efforts on those who don’t return the efforts. Honestly, I feel super exposed sharing this. But I skipped the fear challenge and most personal challenges I see. I have always been the girl who gave too many chances. Once it was over, then sure, forever. Forget burning the bridge, that whole city was going down. But up until that point... too much. I put the Protection Guardian with this because in much of this community, and others, I am known as the protector. So she’s been my avatar from that deck and now it is time for the protector to start protecting herself in a way that actually makes sense. Today’s two card reading is sort of a now and next kind of reading. It’s really a pair for insight and guidance. I used the Fantasy Tarot for this and drew the Gryphon and the Witch, the 10 of Swords and the 3 of Cups. Someone hurt you. Someone who should never have even considered it. Family, a romantic partner, someone close. That sort of hurt is a betrayal and it can be hard to pick yourself up and move on. It is, however, absolutely necessary that you do so. So.... how? By creating a new family. You know who in your community you connect with. (Any type of community. Not just neighbors and church, those online friends, people you meet in classes, those who share interests). Clean on your chosen family. Look from their eyes and rediscover your worth. Another version of the two card reading is the problem/solution reading. This one using my The Wisdom of Avalon Oracle deck feels fairly straightforward here. The Forgiveness card which generally urges you to forgive, here represents the inability to do so. But while these words usually provoke feelings of what someone has done to you, this is focusing on what you’ve done to yourself. The problem is that you are holding yourself back with your inability to forgive yourself for things that may or may not have been in your control. No judgement here, one of the hardest pieces of a spiritual journey is facing yourself. So how do we go about this? Trust. This card can mean so many things but generally it is about trust in the universe and in yourself. So how do we forgive? First we stop judging our past selves like we knew then what we know now. We admit that we were just doing our best with what we had. That doesn’t mean we made the choices we should have or that we didn’t know about other options. It means that we took the sum of our emotions, knowledge, believes, experience, and whatever else and we made a choice. And that choice may be one that you wish you could take back but it does not mean that you are not allowed to go forward. Forgive yourself and do better next time. We’re all just working through our own lessons one day at a time. Today’s mini reading takes the form of you and what crosses you. The first card is basically a signifier, who you are at this moment in time. The second is what is affecting you the most. These are the first two in a mini or full cross and many other spreads but is also a great quick read to get yourself focused. For today, I’m using the Angels and Ancestors Oracle deck by Kyle Gray. The Father Sky Card says that you are working more with your masculine energies now. For some this can mean coming into balance. It is also about understanding that you cocreate your life. To see as the card representing you says that if you were drawn to this reading, you are working on understanding the balance of control and flow on your life. When to stand and determine your path and when to let the universe show you the way. Mother Earth is the literal counterpart to Father Sky in this deck. As the crossing card, it can echo that struggle for balance or indicate overwhelm. I feel, however that it serves as more of a reminder that to fully achieve balance, you must keep yourself sturdy in your core, here the feminine and let that keep you rooted in your truth as you reach for that yin to your yang and bring it all together. To start our look at the 4s in the Tarot, you all should know that they follow me. At one point it was the 4 of cups. Now it’s all of them. So what’s special about the 4s? They are all about consistency and stability. Great, right? Sometimes. Sometimes they carry with them the caution of overthinking, being in a rut, or being stuck. I most often see them as a reminder to let things flow.
