She looked him up and down and just shrugged, “What do you want to hear from me Li, that this was great? That I haven’t had sex that felt like this in awhile?” She didn’t want to hurt him but she knew she had to for her own self being. She knew she couldn’t be around him because if she was she would be reminded of why she had stayed so long in the past. You’re not the only person I’ve slept with in the past twenty four hours and who knows, you might not even be the last. We can chock it up to us being drunk or whatever you want to tell the next person who asks who you slept with last and they ask why you slept with me...” She could feel herself crumbling, she wanted him to beg her to stop talking, she wanted him to tell her it was all in her head but they had hurt each other in the past and this wasn’t any different now. She looked down, she didn’t want to see the truth on his face, “Tell me i’m wrong, tell me this wasn’t just drunk sex for you.”

Sophie felt like she was on fire, she wanted to burn the entire room down with her feelings in this moment as she pulled him closer to her, grinding down once more. “Then what are you waiting for?”
{TIME LORDING TO AFTER THE SEXY TIME}
Sophie let her head hit the couch under her as she came down from her high, catching her breath, her eyes closed still living in the moment. Knowing that once she opened them she would have to face reality. More sober than when they had started she squeezed her eyes shut before opening them. Looking around before her eyes met his, wishing she had a way to read his mind or understand what was going on. Before he could say anything she broke the silence. “Well..Thanks for that trip down memory lane..” She took a deep breath feeling the twinge in her heart at her own words “..bud.” She began getting up, pretending this was just some other guy, keeping her back to him as she adjusted her dress back to its original placement on her body, grabbing her wig from off the floor. She took a deep breath before turning back to him, putting on her best fake smile. Knowing he can read right through it but needing to put on the show for herself. “We should do this again sometime.”

Both hands settled on her hips and he looked up at the brunette as she toyed with his hair. “Nothing you wanna hear about.” He said honestly, not wanting to let drunk thoughts slip past his lips and make him say something he shouldn’t. He didn’t want to mess with her head or her emotions but what he did want was to get a piece of that connection they had always had. He missed her, that was true, but he knew they were a toxic combination. She didn’t understand his darkness and he wasn’t ready to confront it. Liam ran his tongue along his bottom lip and pulled her in a little closer, letting one hand ghost down her body to rest on her exposed thigh. “I missed you, Soph…” He whispered, eyes drifting down to land on her plump lips as he leaned in a little bit. “I missed this.” Liam closed his eyes as he softly pressed his lips to hers in the dim lighting of the office they were sitting in alone together.
Sophie felt dizzy with emotion bubbling in her stomach, she didn’t know how she had gotten this far and she didn’t want it to end. She wanted to feel connected to him again in any way that she could. His hand on her thigh sending a warm touch through her body she let her hips grind down, and before she could get a word in his lips were connected to hers. Her head spinning as her eyes fluttered shut and she let the world around her disappear as she just focused on him. Her hands going up behind his head instinctively. She deepened the kiss for a moment before pulling away only far enough to rest her forehead on his and catch her breath. She needed a second to think, needed a second to process her feelings, she opened her eyes and looked at him once more, “I need you.” Was all she was able to process out loud to him before she cupped his face and closed the small distance once again, crashing her lips down onto his.

Sophie found herself a spot on the floor knowing they were going to put on a good show. She watched as he got on his knees and sent her a wink as she pulled out her phone and automatically had a song in mind. “Hope you like Brittany..” She said as she pressed play on Toxic by Brittany Spears.

Liam wasn’t really sure what to say to her when she admitted what she meant. Of course he had loved Sophie but his own addiction was the sole focus in his life back then. It still was now too but he’d gotten better at hiding it. If she knew how screwed up he still was, would she even want to be seen with him? Would she want anything to do with him? He was too much baggage for anyone to deal with, or at least that’s how he saw it. She deserved someone who had their life together and could be there for her in a way he never could. Taking her hand and heading out of the main room where everyone was dancing, Liam took her down a long hallway and opened a door at the end, finding a quiet room with a few lounge chairs and a desk, presumably someone’s office that should have been locked but wasn’t. “Much better.” He smiled and looked over his shoulder at her before moving to sit in one of the large lounge chairs and patted his lap with one hand before pulling her down to sit on it. “Now…where were we?” He asked, tucking her hair behind her ear and looking up at her with a half smile.
Sophie looked behind her as they entered the room. Her heart was beating fast as she had no idea what he was thinking or feeling. In this moment she couldn’t think about the fights they used to have or how she felt when he pushed her away at every twist and turn. She couldn’t think about how she felt when they ultimately split, and she found herself alone. She just watched him carefully, every move he made, she felt like she was living in slow motion for a moment as she let her legs spread over his lap and she slid down onto him. Her dress riding up, she used her free hand and pulled it down quickly. She was nervous, which is not something she’s used to feeling in moments like this. Her head tilting into the feeling of his hand in her hair, her hands falling to his chest. “You tell me..” She said breathlessly. She brought her hand up and ran her fingers through his hair, her fingers dancing across his forehead lightly, “Tell me what’s going on in that head of yours.”

He groaned as she ordered them both a shot, but he downed it immediately- Syd was never one to turn down a challenge. He knocked it back and dropped the shot glass onto the counter. “Sheez, alright, alright…” He looped an arm around her waist, always loving to stay close, especially after they’d both been drinking. He was pleasantly warm, enjoying himself, just drunk enough to be stumbling a tiny bit. “Scare ‘em?” He asked, feeling for a cigarette as they walked out into the crisp evening air. “Shit, maybe we go on a walk and see who we can scare? Making you scream is always a nice second option… ‘specially with this dress and fishnets on…” He teased against her ear, giving her earlobe a little tug with his teeth.
She pressed herself into his side and walked along with him liking any option that seemed to come out of his mouth. “I want you to name the stupidest shit that kids do on halloween and I wanna do it. I wanna scare the shit outta this town. Make them think there’s actually a ghost out there to be afraid of.” She pulled away from him, her hands sliding down and intertwining his fingers with hers and her other hand reaching out to grab his other hand as she walked backwards pulling him along, “Let’s pretend we’re not adults for a night and then you can take me home and make me scream with that handsome mouth of yours buried between my thighs.” She didn’t care who heard her and she wanted the whole world to hear the fact that she was taking him home. For this moment she felt like the luckiest girl in the world.

“Mhm..” She bit down on her lip before looking him up and down, “I like it when i’m not in control, when I don’t have to think about anything other than the feeling of the other person pressed up against me..” She took a step towards him, thinking for a moment what she could have him do, wether she wanted to go easy or not. “I dare you to give me a strip tease to any song of my choosing.”

He’s having fun, sure, but it’s not the kind of fun he’d rather have. One that involves not as much alcohol in his system and with honest and fun laughter; not one induced by booze and drunken antics. How this night went from dancing and having fun with Val to crawling out of a bush looking a mess is his own doing. That he knows. “It’s not that obvious.” Yes, yes it is Jude. “Oh God, you saw that? Was I really that loud?” he looked at the roll in his hand laughing at how it went as a prop to singing to it. He needs to go home. “Did you get anyone to dress like Dalmatians to match your costume? If anyone can convince someone to do it, you can.” A dopey smirk followed while Jude did his best to not sway on his feet but…it’s a challenge.
She giggled softly at him, she would never tell him this but she was enjoying the fact that she was taking care of him for once. For once the tables had turned and she loved seeing him let loose. Knowing he probably hated it, after all these years seeing him drunk she knew it was probably overwhelming for him. “I mean it’s not that you were loud, I just happened to be listening closely. When someone is laying in a bush singing you tend to pay more attention to them than if they were just singing. “Come on, let’s get you home.” She looped his arm around her own and began walking the two of them towards his apartment. “I bet I could’ve gotten someone to dress up, but alas it was just me this time around. Maybe next year you could go as my puppy, you wouldn’t have to dress up. Just stand next to me and people will know what you’re supposed to be.” She cracked the joke and jabbed him in the side a bit before looking forward trying to keep them both upright.

He watched her take the water, with no lack of certainty it would probably be cast aside. “You’re welcome.” Then she shot off her questions and he laughed. “I’m of Mexican heritage. So Dia De Lose Muertos is much more fun to celebrate. Halloween is just this weird dress up and scare people sort of holiday.” He offered, shrugging his shoulders. “But I never really believed in all of that. Scary movies weren’t so scary to me. Although Jeepers Creepers, that one…. yeesh.” He nodded his head, canting it at her. “Sophie, a pleasure. My name’s Sam. Dr. Samuel Ward. New in town, and wondering how in the world I could’ve missed a place like this.”
She looked him up and down, “Ah so that’s why I’ve never seen you around. Although i’m kinda new to town also if you count being away for four years new..” She tried to relate to him, “Holy moly! I’m also of Mexican decent, although i’ve never actually celebrated anything. I was adopted when I was younger so I’ve just been around white people my whole life!” She shrugged, “Maybe this is the year to celebrate!” She laughed, “Yeah, this is no joke around here, this place really is jeepers..” She rolled her eyes at her own description of town. “A Doctor! Well welcome to town, it’s a hard place to miss but i’m glad you’re finally getting to see it.”

“Promise?” They would both likely forget this moment, or at least Liam would since he was too drunk to be honest with his memory, but it was still important with him that Sophie knew she could talk to him. Time and distance had never meant that he didn’t love her. This love might be a little different now but a part of his heart would always belong to the brunette with her hands on his chest. “Never felt like what?” He asked, though he knew what she meant. Like they did. How things were always easy and simple. Their relationship might have been rocky at times but Liam always knew that Sophie was someone who had his best interest at heart. Not a lot of people would have stood by him as long as she did. It was Liam’s issues that pushed her away in the end and hurt them both. Hell, his issues were still hurting him. Never did quite manage to get sober long enough to claim he used to be an addict. “You wanna go somewhere quieter?” He asked, leaning down to speak the words against her ear so she could hear him in the loud dance floor.
“I promise you..” She was thankful for the alcohol flowing through her veins, knowing she wasn’t going to hold up her end of the promise. She thought for a moment, probably waited too long to talk just listening to his heart beat as she contemplated what she was going to say. She knew what love was supposed to feel like, and she knew she had had that with Liam, wether she said it or not she knew it was unspoken and he’d always hold her heart. Wether he’d keep it safe or not was what she always worried about. “Never felt like us.” She knew he would understand what she was talking about, she knew she wasn’t alone in this feeling. It almost hurt to feel so strongly about him, knowing that it was all it could be was a feeling in the past. She also knew that he had hurt her, that he brought so much pain into her life. She wanted to wrap her arms tighter around him and not leave the bubble they had created, and hearing his words she didn’t think twice. Pulling away just far enough to get a look at his face, wondering what he was thinking, wishing she could read minds. “I’d follow you anywhere.” Breaking her own bubble of their reality as she took her first look around, her hand finding his and intertwining her fingers with his before she pushed herself away from him. “After you..”

“I don’t like being child free though, I like being a dad.” Ben’s happiest moments were always when he had Charlotte. Dropping her off Sunday nights was Ben’s least favorite part of the week. “I’m getting her for Christmas though. We’re going to my parents house, and I’m gonna teach her how to kick uncle Jeremy in the shins.” Ben laughed at the image in his head. “You remember Jeremy? Dweeby kid who’s kinda annoying.”
She laughed almost instantly at the thought of her kicking Jeremy in the shins. “Oh yeah she’d have him beat in an instant. He’s not much of a fighter, and how could I ever forget him. He may be your younger brother but he was my boyfriend once upon a time!” She rubbed his arm for a second, “But you have him beat in one aspect, I bet you can still drink him under the table. I remember he would always try to keep up with you but god knows you were always better than him!”

Val nodded in agreement, though he tried to remember if they’d actually talked about Jude before. Had Val even mentioned the multiple hook-ups with him? Clearly Sophie knew who he was… Val couldn’t remember. The alcohol wasn’t helping. Oh well. They tried to think for a moment, scratching their freshly shaven cheek in thought. “Hmmm…. what’s the weirdest thing you’ve done in the bedroom?” Val asked with a grin.
She laughed for a second thinking about what her answer would be. Thinking back was harder than she anticipated, “I wouldn’t call it weird, because everyone has their things, but it sure was different for me. I was in the bedroom with five other people, completely tied up, and having no say in what was going on around me. God to give up control for that amount of time, it was freeing.” She thought back to it and the pleasure she had gotten out of that night. “If you have any questions get them out now, because i’m never going to bring it up again! Also, your turn. Truth or dare?”

He grinned as she got close. The booze in his system had him finding everything she did extra endearing, even more enticing. Enjoying her company even more than he usually did. He wanted to grab her waist and hold her near him. Instead he draped an arm over her shoulder. “First of all, you know I always think you’re sexy.” Syd murmured against her ear with a grin, forehead against the side of her head as he leaned into her. “Secondly…. how many shots has it been?” He asked, stumbling a bit with her as he got himself upright, looking at the cocktail he still had quite a bit of left. “Shit… what d’you want to do?” He asked, looking around. A lot of people had gone home already and it was getting to be less hectic inside.
She leaned into him, letting him support her weight a bit. Giggling a bit at the feeling of his breath against her ear, a chill going down her spine at his words. He said shots and that’s all she could think about, how she had craved another one, craved the numbness that alcohol gave her. “Not enough, we’re still able to stand up so that must call for another one!” She pulled away from him, keeping one hand on his chest to stay connected to him as she flagged down the bartender and ordered them another round. She looked back at him and around the place that had emptied out since the last time she had looked around. There were still people but not as many as before. “I think we should go scare some residents of Salem, pull some real halloween bullshit that this town loves so much!” She offered up the plan not sure how he would take it, “Or we could be boring and just go do it loud enough for your neighbors to hear.” She shrugged.

Ben leaned into her, he needed a friend right now. “Char is perfect, she just started third grade at the end of August. She’s smart as a whip too.” Ben pulled out his phone to show Sophie a picture of Charlotte on her first day of school. “She’s really becoming her little person it’s amazing. I wish I got to keep her around more. Unfortunately I’ve been deemed ‘unfit’ by her mother” Ben rolled his eyes. “I’m sorry, she’s just on my mind tonight. I love that little human.”
She knew he wasn’t an unfit parent, hell this whole town knew it and she knew that talking about it will only make her more upset and that’s not what this night should be about. “I love her also, she’s the cutest little human in the world. But that’s not what we should be spending our drunk hours thinking about, and you’re child free at the moment so you should be having the best night of your life!”

Val grinned. “Of course you are.” He agreed. Val didn’t have to see her to know that she probably looked utterly irresistible. He sat back with a smug grin, playing with the little straw in his cocktail and listening to her come up with a question. And of course it was something about sex. Val had assumed it would be, after all. He chuckled. “And it can’t be you?” He asked, a hand on his chest in faux shock. Val’s vacant eyes showed his concentration, deep in thought for a moment. “…well. What if it’s someone I’ve already slept with before? ‘s that alright?” Val cleared their throat. “I’d be fine with sleeping with Jude again. I mean, y’know, if he wanted to do that. Anyways. Truth or dare?”
She gave them a teasing shove, “No it can’t be me you ass, pick someone else!” She was surprised by their answer and the words that followed it, not used to hearing someone confess that they’ve slept with Jude. “He sure does know his way around a bedroom.” Giving their hand a small squeeze she thought for a moment and then chose the same answer, “I’ll also go for a truth. Hit me with your best shot.”

It wasn’t like Val and Sophie hadn’t fooled around before, but it’d been a while, and they were a bit surprised as her hand slid theirs down her curves, onto her thigh. Val bit his lip, let his fingers shift a bit to feel the fishnet fabric against them. He could even feel where the dress ended and her tights began… they stood there in a nice vest, a billowy shirt, looking like they’d stepped out of the 1800s, and apparently Sophie was dressed as a sexy Cruella, which was… definitely hot. “Mm… sounds perfect for you. Besides the killing puppies part, but I bet you make a hot villain.” Val pointed out, settling more in the shed.
“Truth or dare? Ah fuck, yes, absolutely.” Val said eagerly, grinning widely and taking another sip of his cocktail, squeezing the hand that was still in his. “Do I get to ask first? Because I’m startin’ off picking truth. Have t’keep it simple at the start.”
“You’re damn right I do. i’m the hottest villain in this town.” She joked knowing that was far from the truth. Her outfit was things she was able to pull out of her closet, loose the wig and she could wear it out to a club any day of the week. But she felt great, and she was glad to have the company of a great friend.
“You pussy, but you’re right. Why jump to the fun stuff right off the bat.” She laughed, “Okay okay, if you could sleep with anyone in town, that’s not me, who would it be?” She wasn’t sure how he would react to the question but a games a game and she sure was going to play it however she saw fit.

….
Syd was having a pretty fucking good night. He’d bumped into a few people he knew and gotten to start drinking nice and early, after working a pretty exhausting double. And he had the next few days off, which meant he could really drink. Finding his partner in crime, Sophie, had been icing on the cake. So now they were knocking back shots that Syd had flirted with the bartender for, and Syd sat comfortably close with Sophie as he sucked on a lemon wedge after a tequila shot went down, burning all the way. That’s what happened when it was cheap. “Only four or five times, but I’d love to hear you say it again.” He teased, squeezing her waist and giving her cheek a little kiss before grabbing up his cocktail that was still waiting for him. Number… four? Five? He didn’t remember. He caught her arm as she stepped back, and he watched her talk with a big dopey grin on his face. “Of course I am! It’s me you’re talkin’ to, babe.” Syd leaned an arm back on the bar, sitting comfortably in the old denim jacket he’d just thrown some red paint on and written ZOMBIE KILLER on the back of, a band tee he’d cut into a tank top underneath. His usual tight-ass jeans on because he’d worn them to work. “Like there’s anyone else you’d rather get drunk with.” He teased. “Have I told you how sexy you are in your costume tonight?” He winked.
She laughed and took a step towards him, “You look so god damn sexy in that costume.” She practically whispered it so only he could hear it before she took a step away from him feeling silly for even saying it again. The whole night felt silly, but she was happy for once. Happy to be forgetting the world with him, “I could think of a whole list of people I could get to drinking with in this town, and you may be at the top of it but don’t flatter yourself that much...” Her words came out faster in her head than they did in real life. They were slurred and as much as she tried to make herself sound witty there was no denying the fact that she was far drunker than she had been in a long time. She rolled her eyes, “Took you long enough, you should’ve told me at least two shots ago!” She teased.
