I know there's bigger posts going around like this one, but just in case anyone isn't aware, if you post art or do commissions and you get a comment on your post that looks like this:
Tumblr media
It is almost certainly a scam. There's a paypal scam going around (details about it in this post) in which artists that do commissions are being targeted. Just browsing through the 'commission' tag, almost every single post has a comment like this one on it, from various accounts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The common thread between all these comments is the request for the poster to DM them. So, if you get a comment that seems generically interested in commissioning you and asks you to message them, block and report them. If you're unsure, check their blog. If anything about it throws up anything but a green flag, just don't respond. It is better to miss out on a potential commission than to risk being scammed.

I know I've reblogged this a bunch lately, and I'm so sorry to do it again.
I'm being let go from my job. I'm scrambling to find another as fast as I can, and I'll be okay for a little while I job search. But I'm trying to stay ahead of this and if I can make a little extra through commissions, that'll be something in the meantime.
Reblogs are deeply, deeply appreciated.

I'll do fanart, OCs, illustrate scenes from fics- throw your ideas at me, I'm happy to work with you!
Please feel free to message me with any questions you have; I know the pricing for art nouveau inspired works is very vague, and I'd be happy to clear anything up!

For @crookedmouth-mountainbones, a commission by the ever-talented @sooz-art who happily obliged with another masterpiece.
Crooked is one of the best fandom citizens I've ever had the pleasure of sharing weird spaces with, and their Tarot Card art of Lu Da inspired me to place their OC Ta Ming among the cards as well.
We went through a lot of ideas for Ta Ming because Ta Ming is a walking basket of layers and contradictions herself. A loyal Fire Nation soldier who is not strictly of the Fire Nation herself. A straight-laced and dedicated servant who consorts with pirates and brigands and considers a dockside brothel her home. A wanderer with deep ties to her family - family that is not of her blood, and yet whom she'd die for without question.
Yet the Knight of Pentacles seems to transcend circumstances to focus on duty. Knights are practical, reliable, stoic, hardworking and conservative. Reversed, the Knight can indicate both laziness or irresponsibility (something Ta Ming would abhor) and workaholism (which is her at her worst), as both get in the way of keeping one's eyes on the mission and doing what needs to be done.
The Knight of Pentacles are shown with a means of transport but, unlike other Knights, are surrounded with visions of home and fruitfulness rather than far-flung adventure. Wherever the Knight of Pentacles may toil they are motivated not by their own wanderlust but by the belief that their efforts are worth it to those they love. The single coin they hold in their hands are riches they will not spend unwisely.
Here Ta Ming stands on the docks, a woman of two worlds. Land and sea. Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom. Behind her are the ships and airships of her many adventures, yet it's the Fire Lord's palace that guides her. Ta Ming will do what must be done for her country and her family and Lu Da obviously. As for where she'll place the ban in her hands, that's anyone's guess.

Pro tip: if you're struggling to make any progress on an event week drawing, just go back and color an old sketch and pretend that counts as productivity

Took a break from commission work to do this little sketch. Still working on figuring out expressions; I don't know if I got them quite right as of yet.

So.....I drew this for Zukaang week, and when I went to double check the prompts to remind myself which one I'd had in mind while working on it, and none of the prompts match this. And there's no free day. So I kind of fucked up. Guess I could've shared this weeks ago when I'd finished it originally; oh well.
Anyway, dandelions remind me of Zukaang. Dandelions are yellow and sunny and relate to fire in that way, but then when they become the puff balls and their seeds float on the breeze, they're like air. It's a flower that encompasses both of them.

For @moonsugar-and-spice, courtesy of @sooz-again, who everyone ought to commission because every time I have it’s been a delight.
Wanted to pay homage to one of the best OCs out there, and what better way to do that than through Tarot Card art?
The Magician might not seem like an obvious choice for Lu Da, but it felt immediately right when I was thinking about where he might be in a deck. In traditional gameplay not only is there a literal element to the Magician’s depiction as a sleight-of-hand artist — one of Lu Da’s many skills — but there’s the additional ‘trickiness’ of the card and how players might use it, especially in conjunction with other wild cards.
In occult traditions and for purposes of divination, key symbols and themes associated with The Magician include willpower, manifestation, and potential. Often this is interpreted through a spiritual lens, but it seems equally fitting for a nonbender on the fringes of society who happens to “bend” the elements and circumstances around him to suit his needs.
If drawn reversed The Magician of course becomes representative of discord, lack of fulfillment, and mental distress. Of being overpowered by the elements rather than a manipulator of them. All of which Lu Da experiences along his journey as a complex and conflicted character.
The hourglass, the ship’s-helm-as-halo, his crossed fingers, the crossbow bolt pointed forward but with Lu Da himself looking back… those little details I leave up for others to interpret. 😉

It's kind of poetic how easily colors of the lesbian flag can be used to color Ty Lee and Azula. Happy Pride, y'all.
