This is a pretty dark submission. Something about this channel really unsettles me. I watched some of the videos (not just the ones you pointed out) and this girl seems quite sad, just sitting in front of the camera holding pictures and trying to connect with people before suddenly ceasing any activity over 10 years ago.

I honestly agree. Kids shouldn’t be displaying hatred. At least Sally is not a real person though, so we have that at least!

I'm no longer really involved in DA nor the Sonic fanbase so I can't keep track of the most recent misdeeds (heh) but I'm happy to let people submit anything that migh be worth documenting!

I'm not just going after Sonamy fans. I just felt Sonamy was the biggest example for a ship with a toxic fanbase. You're okay to ship it if you want! Any ship can have toxic fandom members.

I think the worst Amy fanbrat would be TrueLoveHeart. A genuinely horrible, mentally ill person that desperately needs help. Hopefully they got it.

I’ve made the list of worst Sonic fans ever, not like that’s something to be proud of.

I shipped Sonally back in the day, which the fandom back in the day really didn’t like. I got made fun of and I gave a pretty strong reaction, so it kept happening. I became more and more defensive so more and more people came to poke the tiger in the cage. Too bad the tiger was a mentally ill teenager who struggled to keep fantasy out of reality until a later age because of good old ASD.

Maybe I’ll go further in depth but I’m not sure if I want to give myself away. I feel it’ll cost my credibility.

Heya! Been reading your blog, and I see you also stumbled upon the Killy Sally Club as well when you were a kid. I read your blog about it, but I was wondering if you could detail specific experiences. I was also wondering about more info on WendyAtticus. From what I know, she was an artist who harassed minors on DeviantArt who liked Sally/Sonally. Why did she leave the internet? What she was like? I knew in 2005, she was 20 based off a post I saw. Meaning she is 37 now.. wow.

I remember WendyAtticus. She made those really snarky Anti-Sally posts where she pretended that Sally was some sorta prude and how Sally fans were silly, hypocritical children, spiting them by killing Sally some more. I always hated art like that, regardless of whether or not I liked the subject matter that’s being made fun of.

I never met or spoke to Wendy personally. I had no intention to. Ironically, she came off exactly how she portrayed Sally. Bossy, prudish, self-absorbed... I was surprised that she left the internet at some point, but I’m glad she did. I heard she was a massive jerk.

I can only hope that she got help for her behavior.

I eventually just blocked out those Anti Sally spaces, so I never saw Wendy leave until I looked back into the KSC subject. The subject is kind of iffy for me and most of my memories are vague at best. That’s probably for the better.

Worst Sonic fans I know would be WendyAtticus who over a decade ago harassed minors on Deviatnart for liking sonic/sally, she did ended up befriending fans who liked Sally but never apologized for what she did before she left the internet

I remember WendyAtticus fairly well as she was one of the major players in Kill-Sally-Club that traumatised me pretty bad. P sure she was either the admin or creator.

I don't know how old she was at the time, but she seemed pretty consumed by herself in a really bad way. I don't want to call it narcissism. I'm pretty sure it was just her finding a large audience looking for Sonic content, and Anti-Sally/Sonally content because the latter was hip at the time. There was something about her smugness and matter-of-fact behavior towards how awful, snobby, commanding, etc. her interpretation of Sally was, and how Sally fans were push-overs and a laughing stock that always infuriated me. Most of the people involved were literally kids just wanting to defend a character they liked. Most didn't even hate Amy or Sonamy until said fans just started harassing them.

Funnily enough, she came across just as snobby as she thought Sally was. I mean, she threatened to report people for screenshotting a low-effort Flash game. Bit ironic, innit?

Hate how SEGA proves people like Wendy right these days by refusing to acknowledge the character. Sally always deserved so much better. She really was born into the wrong kid's cartoon. :(

Badly written portrayals aside, do you think Amy is a bad character? I know you called her Modern incarnation toxic before. Personally, I don't think she is at all. And I think Sonamy can be done well too. It really depends on the writing ultimately.

Personally, yes, but this is heavily opinionated.

What bothers me about Amy is her toxic understanding of love. What she considers true love is actually unhealthy obsession, and in a lot of her earlier modern appearances she will prioritise Sonic over anything else, even if it makes him very uncomfortable and causes big problems down the line. She's outright delusional. You can see that when she takes her time, Sonic is actually comfortable around her, hence they're friends, but she always takes it much too far, causing him discomfort. I've seen people internalise this behavior in a really bad way, such as her dragging a tied-up Sonic to a wedding or hitting him with her hammer because he said no to a date. As a kid's character it just rubs me the wrong way. She also threatens him over it multiple times and gets angry at any female character that encounters him. Even Cosmo, even though she's a not remotely close to Sonic's age. It's extremely annoying. Creepy!

Additionally I don't like her design. It's fine on paper, but I don't like how exposing it is when she is only 12/14. You can see her bare back, her arms, and oftentimes her underwear because her skirt is not only short, but umbrella shaped. That, in correlation with a japanese exclusive scene from Sonic X where she admits to only wearing this outfit because she thinks Sonic will oogle all over her for it makes me uncomfortable. Her colors are oftentimes way too bright too. Fully saturated red and green. Whose idea was that?

Finally, I just don't like stereotypical girly-girl characters at all, especially if the only purpose they serve is to be the main character's love interest and only care about things like romance and shopping.

I'm trying to be accepting though. Amy has a massive fanbase for a reason.

not a shipper but what do you think of the shadamy ship? for me i just like the color patterns.

The colour patterns are nice, I agree! One can get tired of the old blue and pink, though SEGA certainly isn't. (This is a joke, please don't be mad!)

Shadamy is OK. The one scene from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is a good indicator on why the ship is appealing to people, with Amy seemingly thawing Shadow's stone cold heart to convince him to help the crew.

While Amy has been pretty selfish for most of the game, she seems to let go of her own desires to comfort Shadow and offer him a very important outlook on life. Even though Shadow has threatened everyone she loved she sees good in him and helps bring it out for this final segment of the main story. I wish it's what Amy did more often in general and it's a very sweet moment to look back to.

As for Shadow, Amy reminds him of Maria, the most important person in his life and someone who would share her beliefs. He makes not just Maria a promise, but Amy too. I think that he respects Amy a lot for pulling him out of this depression-hole.

The only true issue with this ship is the characters' ages which can be debated. Amy is 12/14, while Shadow is over 50 years old. However, Shadow has spent most of this time in stasis and his behavior and design makes him seem to be just around the same age as Sonic (15). I don't think the devs meant for Shadow's age to be considered beyond 50, since they also imply a relationship between him and Rouge, who is 18, which is still a massive age-gap.

The way you look at it should decide how you feel about it. It's a strongly opinionated debate. At least I haven't seen Shadamy fans be toxic much myself, but maybe I've just been lucky.

Sonadow was bound to happen and it's completely healthy to ship!

Rivals to lovers is a popular genre, and boys falling in love is too. It's important for people that are exploring the way they feel about loving people of the same gender, or just exploring the concept of a gay relationship to begin with. Problems arise obviously when people start harassing others for not shipping it, shipping other characters, or sexualise gay relationships.

hey, so i'm trying to cure myself of having problematic ships by only consuming wholesome media. what would you say are the most wholesome, least problematic, canons and ships? any form of media would be great, thanks so much! i'm really hoping to change for the better.

I think a good way to cure problematic ships is to research what makes them problematic and finding either a better way to explore their friendship without the need for romance or a way to ship them with different characters altogether.For example, if you’re not fond of shipping Sonic with Tails because the age gap is too great the two of them still make great friends with a brotherly bond. They can still support each other and hang out, but their friendship remains platonic and wholesome because of it.The same can go for something like Shadow and Amy. Shadow and Amy hardly get along well beyond their encounter in Sonic Adventure 2. In almost any other game and comic they didn’t get along at all. For them I would suggest separating them and shipping them with a character more their age or letting them stay single. Perhaps Amy could get along better with Tails or go off on her own adventures like she did in the X Years Later comics.Hope this helps!
