Clever little Annabel, with her clever head
Inspiration: Sleepy Hollow Katrina’s promo dress, the red jacket worn by Annabel’s actor in the 2014 Oxford staged version of tdona, general Victorian fashion, and Varian from Tangled: the Series!
[id: a digital drawing of Annabel McAlistair. Annabel is a slightly chubby pale East Asian woman in a seated position. She wears a red jacket tied at the neck with a white bow, of which the top button is a gear, opened to reveal a dark violet dress with vertical burgundy stripes, with a white panel with black vertical stripes in the middle. Her black hair is done up in a messy bun with steampunk goggles pushing it back, with a fountain pen stuck into the bun part, and she wears black gloves. In one hand, she holds open a plain brown notebook to her face, and in the other, she holds up her gold spectacles with a glasses chain. Her expression is focused and frustrated, and there is a speech bubble coming from her with a black scribble to express frustration. The background is pale yellow with illegible writing in dark brown.]

United in Distaste is 5 whole minutes of pure chaos so I think it's very appropriate to have Jeff singing it in the album (and Tim at 54 Below because he also radiates powerful chaotic energy)

Stanning Paul Gauguin knowing full well the real Gauguin was an absolute asshole in the Starry fandom is pretty similar to stanning Thomas Jefferson knowing full well the real Jefferson was a piece of shit in the Hamilton fandom

Starry Musical is my latest comfort musical, and I am obsessed with the song A New Horizon, and how that becomes a motif in songs later, how despite everything, it’s that bond between brothers that kept Vincent afloat, and that Theo never forgot it.
Also, the theme of creation is so well expressed! I always want to write more and to just CREATE something after listening to Starry. I don’t know what I’m saying, but it’s very comforting!
Addendum: they mention Berthe Morisot by name!!! United in Distaste is really good!!! And The Road sounds the way a van Gogh painting looks, I can’t describe it.

The romantic song in Anastasia is, contrary to popular belief, not In A Crowd of Thousands, but rather Everything to Win. In A Crowd of Thousands is the moment of realization that, for both Anya and Dima, the other is whom they have been searching all these years, but Everything to Win is the song where the audience sees, and where Dmitry realizes, that he truly is in love with Anya when he realizes that a happy ending where he’s not with her isn’t a happy ending at all.

Thank You and Goodbye
Two years ago, my friend @worldbuildingwren convinced me to join the musical theatre club she was part of at our school. I was nervous. I’ve never done musical theatre, or any kind of theatre, really, until I got to college. I started later than most people, waiting until my junior year, and I was scared I wouldn’t fit in.
But NUStage was the experience I’d always wanted. I remember my first full club meeting: I didn’t know except for my Abigail and for my roommate. I’ve never been a performer, and I still think my place isn’t necessarily on the stage, but every rehearsal was a chance to give it my all to something I loved.
And the people! You’re all so amazing, you know? I’ve always been intimidated by people who perform in shows, but getting to know you all? You’re so passionate and driven and so incredibly talented! Not just in terms of acting, or dancing, or singing, but in every way possible. You’re actors and musicians and painters and builders and organizers, on top of being students and activists and engineers and so on, and I truly don’t know how you do it all. You put your entire souls into the shows you put on and made them incredible just because you loved doing the shows. You organized fundraisers and argued with the school over rehearsal spaces and stayed up until ungodly hours to make the shows you did the best you possibly could.
I met some of my best friends through NUStage. I went to rehearsals (and will probably never forget the harmonies to The World According to Chris). I got to costume 70+ people and write a play about possums and sing and dance on a stage, and these are things I would never have imagined myself doing.
But even more importantly, I found a community of people who love what they do, and who helped me find my passion. This last semester has, admittedly, been rough. I had to drop out of my last show because of schoolwork and mental health, and I’ve missed seeing everyone at rehearsals. I’ve missed the camaraderie and the overheard moments and the fumbles, but I’ve so looked forward to seeing the fruits of everyone’s hard work this semester.
I’m sorry we had to go out like this. I’m sorry you couldn’t finish out your semesters after putting so much work into your shows. To my fellow seniors: I’m sorry that we couldn’t have our last hurrahs, that they were so unexpectedly taken from us. No one expected this to happen, but you handled it like the amazing professionals I’ve grown to know you as.
Still, thank you for everything. Thanks for the past two years when, even though tech weeks made everyone want to cry, NUStage was a constant that kept me going through the roughest of times. Thank you for being amazing, and thank you for giving me the experiences and the community and the friends I’ve always wanted to find but never thought I could.
So thank you and goodbye, NUStage Musical Theater Company, love you and miss you for always <3

I completely forgot to post it, but @typosandteabags and I went to see Waitress before it closed! Waitress isn’t a show I knew well personally, but it means the world to Serena, and I’m really really happy we saw it together!!! And @undyingdoloresumbrage , @boffinsandbeasties , and I went to see a local production of Tuck Everlasting! Good times all around!

Imagine: the year is 1884, and you’re out with your best mate at the Paris ballet, who you secretly like, when they fall in love with one of the ballerinas and rush to ask to send her flowers as soon as the show is done
(Of Dancers and Dreamers concept sketch)
The imagine is from Victor’s POV because I realized he’s kind of just third wheeling Anne-Marie (they/them) and Jules (she/her) throughout the entire show

I worked a little more on my play today (separate work from Of Dancers and Dreamers which I refer to as my musical)! I have a first draft for scene i finally! It’s pretty short, but it introduces you to Mary and Alice and how they met, so it’s something, at least
