the thing about the o5 (as a jean stan) is that jean has distinct relationships with all four of the guys in a way that feels really good for her character.

she and hank have this relationship that you can see in xmso that seems to be about them looking forward to the future of the x men. they both can see different things in charles and obviously they’re not going to discuss those with scott (it’s impossible to talk to scott at this point) so they’re sort of considering the future in a way that neither warren nor bobby really is. and then there’s that time when hank and jean think they’re the only two survivors of the x men so it’s them and charles and that is SO tasty to me. and then there’s the open affection that they show each other in x factor and the nineties. and it reads to me like hank really respects jean’s intelligence even though it’s different from his own.

she and warren have a relationship that i think makes them both feel normal. this is why they’re dating in the silver age, and going back to xmso again, i love that moment when jean is like “your worst problem is that girls want you to take your clothes off on the first date” because obviously warren does have problems but jean helps keep them in perspective. they just like each other in a very innocent way, and that like relationship to normal is super interesting in the aftermath of dark phoenix and archangel because both of them end up witnessing the other during their worst days. and how do you move forward with a friendship based on normalcy when you’re both monsters?

and then her relationship with bobby is cute because i believe she does tell bobby things she doesn’t tell anyone else. bc bobby is easy emotionally in a way none of the others are. maybe it’s because he’s younger, maybe it’s because he’s gay and therefore not fighting for her affection, maybe it’s because bobby is just generally a pretty easy-going guy. and for bobby, she likes and respects him (him! for his personality!) and i think he’s pretty used to people seeing only the image he projects, and so for jean to see him is like nice. especially if he doesn’t have to have a conversation about it. then there’s also those x factor issues where bobby’s like “do you wanna help me with this problem” and jean’s like “absolutely get me away from all my problems” so i think they have fun together.

and obviously i could write whole essays about her relationship with scott lol

WIPS (Part 2) I'll be using tumblr to talk a little more in depth about my continuity. Please feel free to ask questions, i love to worldbuild 😊

Explaining this scenario in more detail, this is back in the 'prime' universe for this continuity, which i haven't numbered yet.

Logan had first arrived to the X-Men desperately seeking both his memories and ways to control his ferality (which he didn't know was just part of his mutation). Scott often ended up on the bad side of Logan's feral triggers.

Every method brings him back to square one and he ultimately decides - In a very beautifully bittersweet moment between Jean and He - to return to nature.

During this universe' dark phoenix event - 6 years pass, and the phoenix force has completely overwhelmed Jean to the point that she decides to leave the X-Men / earth to protect them and their universe. Before doing as her 515 self did (fly into the sun, effectively 'killing' her) she visits the place where she let Logan go and finds him now with a young child in tow.

Some months after this, Logan reappears at the school with said child, much to Scott absolute dismay. They both have their little brawl - Scott angry that Logan conveniently comes back after Jean has died, Logan angry that Scott doesn't understand how important it was for him to reconnect with his ferality so as to not hurt his 'family'.

They eventually decide to cut their losses in favor of raising Logan 'daughter' the way they wish they were raised, making sure she understands that she always has a choice and that her life is hers. Thus ensues ScottLogan playing house, much to the entertainment and amusement of the X-Men.

This particular scene happens whilst out shopping for Laura (who finally got her name!), this is their first time appearing together out in public. They're on their way back home when they feel the suspicious stare of the government upon them ...

Power girl’s gauntlets are also totally incomprehensible. WW’s hair also kind of texture-mimic fades into the background in a way that is suspicious to me. The way her skirt ruffles in the back also is pretty suspect—the way it folds and wrinkles doesn’t make sense, but some of the folds look well drawn near the front. I agree the one of her is harder to catch out. It has the kinds of mistakes and inconsistencies you could easily expect a real artist to make (especially in a quickly moving industry like comics that needs fast output). I find it easier to judge a piece is AI when those kinds of mistakes are mixed into an image where the same skill that is lacking on one part of the image (like comprehending the way folds in clothing work) is executed more competently in a different part of the same image. Sure, sometimes that also happens with human artists; maybe you’re focusing more carefully on one half of the page than another, or you’re working specifically on drawing clothing folds and the resulting image might end up being a real-time display of that clicking for you. But that also usually means that the drawings made after that point will gradually have fewer and fewer technical errors in them. When a person’s output of artwork retains these qualities over time, it’s usually a good indication that they’re not drawing them.

Hey, I think the new Power Girl and Wonder Woman variant covers might be AI

look, I’m no artist, but I think I’m pretty decent at spotting AI “art” when I come across it. There’s usually just this weird look about it that causes me to raise a metaphorical eyebrow, and if I look closer, I can find the inconsistencies in it a real artist wouldn’t make.

Both of these variants were made by Daxiong, I’m not familiar with their artwork and tried looking them up and their usual style is very different than what they had this time around.

Let’s start with the Power Girl cover:

At first glance it looks fine, but if you look closer you can spot the inconsistencies

There are these weird ribbons? or hair? just popping up from her head and belt that kind of connect but are just confusing to look at

The belt itself is very inconsistent

The hair ends differently in places compared to the rest of it

There are lines in weird places

And for the Wonder Woman cover, I admit, I don’t think I spotted as many, but there are still areas where it looks weird

The lines on her “W” belt are inconsistent

The lines on her armband/gauntlet thing are all over the place with no coherence

And the symbols on her shield don’t really look like anything and they just fade away

Like I said, I’m no artist, but this looks like the work of AI to me.

I hope I’m wrong, I don’t want to see people using AI “art” at all, let alone professionals in the comics industry. But if this is actually AI, I don’t think people should buy these covers if the “artist” didn’t even think it was worth their time to actually put effort in and make them.

Google is actively blocking Captcha on Firefox

Firefox users have noticed that captchas - both the picture kind and the click the box kind - are not resolving on Firefox. Tests on Chromium based browsers show that it works perfectly fine on them. It is also known that Chrome will be disabling all ad-blockers in June when it moves to Manifest v3, which will greatly limit what extensions can do.

If you use Firefox, there is an extension called User-Agent Switcher and it allows you to change your browser's UA to Chrome. This will allow you to bypass reCaptcha/Captcha blocks set up by Google and make them function properly.

It could be a code snafu on Google's part - but given how predatory they have been acting lately, I'm going to guess not. Don't get locked out of your websites or feel forced to use Chrome again just to browse.

So apparently KOSA (2024 edition) is getting either thrown out until next year or put into effect in six days.

Update that's going in the main post at the top: it has enough support to pass.

It failed the last two times because people were voting against it.

This time, KOSA has traction among the pro-LGBTQ parties. Because nobody is fucking calling their bullshit and screaming from the rooftops that calling it the "Kids Online Safety Act" is misleading.

What will it passing do?

Nothing much, only prevent any education on LGBTQIA+ (it's that stupid fucking argument about us grooming kids again), shut down nearly every fandom space on the internet, and make it required for most big tech companies to have your ID.

Want to have resources for kids to discover their identity readily available? Yes? Then fucking speak up against this stupid fucking bill.

Fandom spaces like Tumblr, Twitter (? I thought the MAGA assholes liked Musk?), Tiktok, Archive Of Our Own, and any other website that hosts fanfic or fanart? Either shut down permanently, forced to uproot to a different country and down for a while (best case scenario, and they likely won't be able to send any data, and therefore fanfics, to the US), or gutted so that you only get to put G rated cishet ships on there, if any shipping at all. How to avoid that? I've already said it: Call your fucking representatives.

Want to avoid the fucking dystopic task of being legally obligated to give big tech your government issue ID? Again, cause an uproar. Call your goddamned representatives.

If they can pass this, the ripple effects could be catastrophic.

So, for fuck's sake, any Americans that can impact this stupid fucking bill and see this? Do everything in your power to shut it down because you have until February twenty sixth (26th) to send this bill back to where it belongs.
