The first pride was a riot, more specifically a riot against police violence. Trans women like Miss Major and other people of colour paved the way for the celebration of pride today. You cannot celebrate your pride this month, or any month if you aren’t also supporting Black Lives Matter and the riots going on against police violence right now. Us white LGBTQ+ need to stand up for our black siblings and their rights, their struggles. Hand Song Pt.1

I think about brain aneurysms sometimes (the type that snuff out all of your synapses like the end of a fireworks show) and all I can regret are all the pastries I ate last Tuesday (the type that I should have shared with the rest of you) and the ill defined borders of my skin (the type that drape and pull in all the wrong places).

And sometimes I wonder if God had a sense of humor as he calls to Archangel Gabriel “look, no hands!” and he slings us into our bodies as a child loads a slingshot at his absent father’s 1967 Pontiac Firebird with rocks from the neighbor’s driveway (the type of common rocks that are all sharp edges and uniform natural shapes). Maybe some of us slip through the cracks.

Or maybe God doesn’t bother with that type of thing—maybe the angels and the seraphims put us together on an assembly line (the kind that might pack the toothpaste you use to scrape the gingivitis off your nicotine-stained teeth) and the quotas are too great for quality to be consistent.

Maybe we are the remnants (the type of fabric in sold in scraps at the back of the craft store, bundled into baskets and wished away and away and away) stitched into patchwork. I saw on TV once a mother and father holding their firstborn like something precious and I cannot imagine ever bringing someone such joy and hope (the type that is pinned upon the tail feather of a bird that may have been but a circus hoax).

Charlie is a 2 year old, 60 lbs boy who is having so much fun in his foster home! Charlie’s fosters report that he is people friendly and “loves everyone” hehe. Charlie even gets to spend a couple days a week with an 8 year old child, who he just adores.

Charlie has moments of energy, but calms down quickly, and pretty much just wants to be loved and pet. He crates very well, and hangs out in his crate at night and while his human pals are eating. He’s quite trainable -- he sits to go out, get food, or get pets. He’s also currently working on adding “stay” to his repertoire.

Charlie just wants to please! He loves being brushed, behaves during bathtime, and is even cool with the vacuum cleaner. What a dreamboat! Charlie is truly a people pleaser, but his foster family believes he would do best in a home without other pets or who are experienced with slow, proper intros (no small dogs though). He’s seeking a forever family who will help continue to work with him on his leash manners.

We think it’s pretty clear Charlie’s adopters will be lucky humans indeed! #AdoptPureLove
