blind in one eye she may be, she's rather cognizant of the fact that his sight has landed on her ears, which they flick in slight annoyance. although she previously believed that she was merely among a large population of hyurs, she's starting to think that there's nothing but them around.

that's something that will warrant further study, however she knows to take things one step at a time.

"you could say that something like that happened," she answers, her own tone rather even throughout their conversation. the words he uses aren't a dialect she's used to, though. yet, they sound vaguely like what one would name an elezen. it certainly is enough to make her think with her bringing up a gloved finger to rest 'neath her chin.

truthfully, she has no idea how she wound up here. what if eorzea needed its' champion once again? she has no doubt in her allies' strength, sure, but...

thinking about that now would only make matters worse, so it's something that she mentally files away for later.

"ah-ha, i'm not too sure what you just said, but... thank you all the same, i suppose! and, technically, people can continue calling you ash since, back home, we'd have to be close friends—" or more, depending on who you ask... "—for it to be socially acceptable to call me that out loud, ser crimson."

a smirk ends her sentence at that. two could play this game.

"oh?" curiosity piqued, & how could it not be! blue eyes immediately trail to the top of her head, & he makes no attempt to seem subtle about such a thing. "what an odd thing to say, mademoiselle!" a hand, with nails sharply tipped & painted with an intricate pattern of black & white, comes to demurely cover his mouth as he chuckles. "did you somehow cross the border from a neighboring country with no idea? how silly~"

there's an underlying tone of taunting to his words, but it's difficult to tell if it's meant maliciously, or all in good fun. it's certainly not kind, though.

"bienvenue en france, ms. ash. ♪ ... oh, dear. does this mean everyone will have to start calling me mr. crimson? i'm faa~aar too young for that!"

"Oho, official business? Aren't I a lucky girl?" There's a light giggle coming from her while that same tired smile widens into what could very well be considered a genuine one from her. That's right, Undertaker did mention that there would be someone coming for an autopsy report before he left for a few hours.

Besides, how often is it that someone as attractive as the demon in front of her graces her presence? (Can one blame her for her at least appreciating the sight before her?)

"There's no need to apologize, really. I wasn't doing anything of importance anyway. Though, since you sought out this particular funeral parlor, I'm sure you're familiar with our policies for what you need. Instead of a joke like the director requests, I want a pristine human skull. Do you have that on hand?"

"Ah... the Undertaker is out at the moment," a sleepy sort of voice sounds from the halls of the funeral parlor where she finds Sebastian waiting while cradling her pet skull in her gloved hands. Her sickly green eyes peer towards the demon through her raven bangs, a tired smile crossing her countenance.

"What sort of business do you have here anyway?" ( from Dead Master! )

"How peculiar." It isn't entirely like the Undertaker to be absent from the parlor, then again, it isn't like Sebastian comes by often enough to know that the funeral parlor owner had any other hobbies besides playing with the dead apparently.

Still, he didn't recognize this girl, but her eyes surely looked familiar. Perhaps a reaper in disguise? It wouldn't be the first time, but he can't seem to see a reason why a reaper would pretend to be the Undertaker's assistant either.

"Sorry to disrupt your break, miss, I am here on official business. I was told to come by this afternoon to retrieve the autopsy report of a recent murder victim." Hopefully she won't have to ask for a joke as payment.

quick info post for A / Ace

was already an academically gifted child before her arrival to wammy's and her parents loved her quite a bit, often celebrating her academic achievements when they could.

basically, she came from an average and normal family! that is, until, a head-on collision with another car took the life of her father and severely injured her mother. A herself received moderate injuries and both were transported by ambulance to the hospital. the other driver was also taken to the hospital for the injuries he sustained.

her mother did not survive her surgery due to how extensive her injuries were. A was treated for her own injuries, but because she didn't have any surviving family members other than her parents, this essentially made her into an orphan. it was revealed that the other driver was driving under the influence after being served one too many. needless to say, due to how strict Japan is on drunk drivers, he did not receive a light sentence and was given 30 years in prison for the two lives he took due to his reckless actions. when the hospital released her after her treatment was completed, she was sent to live in one of Japan's many orphanages.

unfortunately, because of how traumatic everything was, A developed selective mutism as a result and struggled to maintain eye contact with others when speaking with them. these are traits that would persist throughout the rest of her development as a child.

thankfully, the singular thing that she did have before this was her studies, which she poured herself into. this is what would eventually land her on wammy's radar, who would soon offer her a place to live to see if she'd be a suitable backup in his plan to have a successor in place in case if anything happened to L.

due to having a desire to prove herself, but also to have a place to belong, she passed the assessment given to her and was given the code name A / Ace.

like all of wammy's children, she has her quirks aside from her selective mutism and inability to maintain consistent eye contact with others. she doesn't like to wear shoes most of the time, she doesn't like wearing tight-fitting clothing, and most of the time, one can find her idly playing with multiple decks of cards at any particular given time. spider solitaire is one of her favorites to play, but she doesn't mind the harder card games, like psychological jujitsu, guillotine, amongst others. she tends to play these by herself, but she doesn't mind having an opponent to play against. she also will play with cubes like the pentamix as an example.
