God he'd become a witch so fast
Kieran from Pokemon
Propaganda: He's an unstable bean that was looking for any chance to become stronger, of course he's gonna accept and then become a witch!

I'll just outright say it: I'm not a fan of edgy ROMhacks. To me they feel tryhard-ish and often stumble over their themes in an attempt to be "mature". And while I wish the developers could have delivered a little more nuance in the plots they've created sometimes (looking at you, XY games), I wouldn't want a "mature" Pokemon game.
Lately I've found that the games I most enjoy are those with plots and worlds that feel real to me. Characters that I can get attached to and form genuine connections to. Most recently, I've experienced this with the Scarlet and Violet DLC.
Is it perfect? No. I'd say the ending of the Indigo Disk feels a little hasty. More time was needed to really sell the climax, that final fight. And some of the wackier moments undermined the tone. But you can still tell a lot of time and effort was put into making the actions of its characters feel believable. Relatable. As someone whose special interest is Pokemon and experienced a Pokemon-related betrayal in an online relationship, I identified with Kieran. As someone who maybe hasn't been the best big sister, I also understood Carmine's actions. When the game focused on its characters and story, it was at its best for me.
Idk how to wrap this up but a game can be nuanced without being grimdark. Some of the best stories I've played through, like Psychonauts 2 and Super Paper Mario, have a lot of lighthearted moments but still have engaging characters and take their stories seriously. And that's something I'd like to see a bit more in this industry.
I would never wanna go the route of "Pokemon fangame thats extremely edgy and bloody and every character swears every two seconds" but I personally think Pokemon thrives when it like... takes itself a bit seriously. Not extremely serious, but just the right amount that its geniune. Much like other JRPGs!
Pokemon Black/White, Sun/Moon, Legends: Arceus, and Scarlet/Violet are my favorite Pokemon games! And what they all have in common is that they actually heavily focus on their stories and world and characters. You can tell the developers were serious about these games and put a lot of passion and effort and their own experiences into it
Seeing the stories of characters like N and Penny, or the interactions with Ingo, or even just the interactions of smaller characters like the school staff or trial captains, make the games feel so alive and important to me. It feels like there is reason, and I want to keep playing to learn all I can about this world that clearly was important to the developers.
Whereas like... to me personally, I just can't get into Gen 1-3 because I feel like that was the era where Pokemon wasn't about storytelling. It was kinda just... you're a kid running around catching monsters to be the very best! And that's not bad at all, but it really just lacks impact to me personally. Those games are gameplay over story, and feel really empty to me as a result. I have no reason to go back to them personally. Gen 4 is reallyyyy on the edge because it definitely tells more story, but still too much. Gen 5 is where I feel like Pokemon really finds itself and becomes something greater.
This also isn't just about the games, but can apply to other Pokemon media too!
Pokemon Horizons and XY are by far the best Pokemon anime to me.. and a huge reason is because they're "serious"! They have a story and proper character development, and every battle and moment and interaction feels important! (I also adore Diamond/Pearl so much, and that one takes itself relatively seriously)
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon... ohg yeah...........
But yeah! Of course I love whimsy and fun and I think many video games are enjoyable when they're just focused on gameplay, but I dunno! I like Pokemon the most when it has purpose and weight to it I suppose! Story and characters are one of the most important factors of a game to me
This actually goes beyond Pokemon cuz my favorite Mario games are Super Mario Galaxy and TTYD, and my favorite Fire Emblem games are Awakening and Three Houses, and Pikmin 3 is my favorite Pikmin game.. and those are all the serious and atmospheric ones. video games are an amazing form of storytelling, and I love when they do just that!

Is it weird for your interpretation of a canon character to feel like their own separate entity from the original? Like, in the PMD game I'm running there's an NPC from the mainline games (the humans are reincarnated) that's been tagging along with the party, and I feel like he's beginning to develop into his own character. In a good way.
The party's gonna be surprised when he regains his memories. Provided they even know who he is lol.

I am so glad that the word blorbos exists now. It’s so much more evocative and accurate than “comfort character”. Like, they’re different things. He doesn’t bring me comfort, he makes my hands itchy and I want to polish him with pledge. I want to put him in a Pringle’s tube and shake him. I want to brush his hair and put little shoes on him like a Bratz doll. That’s a blorbo.

Shards of Creation is going well too btw! Team Prismatic fought off one of the main antagonists, a bloodthirsty Zoroark possessed by an unknown entity. Surprisingly, we won! Last session gave us some much-needed downtime, where Rosie got to show off her skills at playing the keytar! Wish I thought to draw it lol

Sorry for the long period of silence! I've been running a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon campaign that takes place in a postapocalyptic version of Kalos! It's been a blast so far. I'm pretty new as a GM, but my players work really well with each other and the story is coming along great! Next session they're gonna get to experience the Harvest Festival and meet my friend's character... it's gonna be wild lol

Our Story: A Family's Journey Through War
My name is Mounir, and I am part of a family of seven. We used to live a simple life in Gaza, before the war changed everything.
My father, Raed (47), my mother, Amani (39), my older sisters, Rasha (22), who is married, and Rana (21), who is also married, my brother Mohamed (16), and my little sister Sham (4), we all dreamed of a safe and stable life.
Tumblr media
When the war began, we were forced to leave our home due to heavy shelling nearby.
We took shelter in the shop that was our only source of income— a sanitary supplies shop where my father, brother, and I worked.
We could only stay one night before leaflets were dropped from airplanes ordering a full evacuation of the area. We had no choice but to move to Al-Shifa Medical Complex, where we lived in a tent for a week.
Then, another evacuation order came, and we were told to head south of Gaza.
Tumblr media
With no relatives to take us in, we ended up in an unfinished school building in the central area.
The 90 days we spent there were the hardest of our lives— no water, no food, and nothing fit for human life. We had to walk more than 1.5 kilometers just to buy a small amount of food to keep us alive.
After this long ordeal, another evacuation order came, but before we could leave, the school was bombed.
It was terrifying— we narrowly escaped death, leaving everything behind.
We fled to Rafah, a place that seemed safer at first, but there too, we found no shelter.
We had to live in a tent, in the freezing winter cold.
Tumblr media
We had no way to keep warm, and we nearly froze to death.
My mother, who suffers from chronic asthma, was in a dire situation because we couldn’t find her medications.
She ran out of the medicine that helps her breathe, and she started having painful attacks.
This is one of the many types of medicine that you use, but there is none of it because it has run out
Tumblr media
The smoke from the fire we used for cooking and the terrible smell from the lack of sanitation in the school made her condition worse.
Tumblr media
My little sister Sham is also suffering from skin rashes due to the unsanitary conditions, and she has diarrhea and vomiting because the drinking water is contaminated.
Tumblr media
We are living in inhumane conditions, and we don’t even have the clothes we need to survive the coming winter.🥶(🧥❌)
My brother Mohamed and I carry a heavy burden— we fetch water from faraway places, and we search for food to ease our hunger.
My married sisters and their small children are also in desperate need of baby formula, clothes, and diapers.
Even the food that reaches us in the school from charity kitchens is barely edible due to poor cooking.🤢
This is our life… fear, hunger, cold, and bombing. 💔
We live in constant terror and uncertainty. 😔💔
We desperately need your help and support— any donation can help save our lives and ease our suffering.🥺🙏🏻
My campaign is Vetted by

It's disturbing how a successful attack in the eyes of a Zionist depends on how many civilians have been murdered, or how many residential buildings have been destroyed.
True psychopaths.

Quick reminder that you don't need a solid sexuality! You can just be in love! Or not be in love! Or have a gender! Labels are a choice, not a requirement. All you need to do is be someone you like being! If labels help with that, great! But they are not required. You don't owe it to anyone, so don't feel pressured to choose labels if they aren't your thing!
