We all dream of things we cannot have. Tywin dreamed that his son would be a great knight, that his daughter would be a queen. He dreamed they would be so strong and brave and beautiful that no one would ever laugh at them.“I am a knight,” he told her, “ and Cersei is a queen.” A tear rolled down her cheek. The woman raised her hood again and turned her back on him. Jaime called after her, but already she was moving away, her skirt whispering lullabies as it brushed across the floor. Don’t leave me, he wanted to call, but of course she’d left them long ago.

A small laugh slipped from her lips as she shook her head in honest disbelief, "After all this time... You are as serious as the day we wed." But her tone was full of nothing but pure joy. Tywin was different with her... He was a different man; But she loved all side of him, it would be a lie to say she did not.

Joanna dropped her hand from his face after a moment, taking his hand within hers and giving it a soft squeeze, “You’re really here.” With a soft sigh, Joanna took a small step forward, letting her lips brush across his cheek before pulling back and simply watching her lord husband with something that could only be described as contentment written on her face.

"A crown for my queen. My only queen" (take that, aerys)
Joanna smiled, tracing the crown with a delicate touch. "Tywin... You are too kind my love."

Jaime approached his mother, uncharacteristically hesitant in his footsteps as he approached, with a small black velvet box in hand. Once he had given it to her, he smiled softly. "Happy Valentines, mother."
Joanna placed a hand to her mouth as she opened the box and the gems of the necklace caught the light and sparkled. "Oh Jaime-" She looked back up at her son, smiling at him as she wrapped him in an embrace.

A soft blush rushed up her neck and spread over her cheeks, “I suppose- No one else has those cheekbones.” A smile curved her own lips and she hesitantly reached out, her gloved fingers brushing against his cheek, “Tywin…”

For you, sweet sweet Joanna. Happy Valentine's day.
Joanna paused, watching Aerys closely before reaching out an gently running her fingers along the gems, her gaze then flickering up to Aerys and a smile crossed her features, "Thank you, it is truly beautiful."

Joanna stopped still, her eyes widening slightly as she realized who the man before her was… Tywin. She took a hesitant step forward, her gloved hands clasped before her as she walked. Halting before him, Joanna smiled warmly, “Is it really you?” She murmured softly, her tone full of something akin to disbelief.

177. Because I like to think that Joanna was a good mother and she would have loved Tyrion.

Joanna ignored his first comment, deciding it best to simply not give him ammunition. But it was getting to the point where even Joanna was struggling to control her anger towards this boy king who was also her grandson. Tilting her chin upwards, Joanna shook her head, "You are a spiteful child. He is your uncle, and all you can do is find amusement in his capture? We may not be Tullys, but family is important, but it seems you do not understand that."
Joanna & Joffrey//
“I would not want to know him better,” Joffrey replied with a shrug, hardly caring if he offended her or not, despite the warm smile that she gave him. Acting all familiar, as if she knows me. Such a fool woman, he thought. “And as for speaking to my uncle..” he chuckled. “He’s been captured by the Starks, so such is impossible.”

Patting Sansas arm, Joanna urged her forward alongside herself, "From the beginning. I find that is always the best place to start." Watching the girl closely, Joanna could tell Sansa was worried of saying what was really on her mind, which caused Joanna to wonder just what sort of treatment Sansa had suffered at the hands of her family of lions. "You may speak your mind with me, Sansa. I will hold nothing against you, nor will anything you say go back to any other Lannisters."
Joanna & Sansa//
“Yes, I am.” She replied, inclining her head before smiling at the young woman before her. Joanna took note of the past tense Sansa had used, and a frown crossed her face as she linked her arm through the red heads, “Come, walk with me. Tell me what has caused such a pretty face to be so downcast.”

“Sansa Stark my Lady,” she replied “and we have not had the pleasure of meeting,” or at least Sansa didn’t think so. She gave the woman another smile, “And who might you be My Lady?” she asked, her river blue eyes meeting the other woman’s.

His question caused Joanna to chuckle lightly, inclining her head slightly to the left with obvious amusement. "Your grandfather is a warm enough man to those who deserve it. I was one of the lucky few who can say they truly knew- know him." Clasping her hands before her, Joanna smiled warmly at her grandson, "Perhaps you just do not know him well enough...?"
"But come now, ask Jaime, or your mother for that matter, if you do not believe me. I am sure either one of them will enlighten you on who I am."

She perked a brow at his obvious irritation, and inhaled a deep breath. Expelling it after a fashion, Joanna tried to think of the best way to explain all of this to the young king. Holding up a hand, she kept that smile on her lips, “Please, allow me to try and explain this as best as I can. I do not take you for a fool, you are a Lannister. As am I. I do not know how this all came to be, but I am not lying when I tell you that I am Joanna Lannister, your Grandmother. You can choose to believe me, or not, it matters little in the grand scheme of things.”

"Lady Joanna Lannister." She said in reply, a smile still on her lips. "And now we have the pleasure of knowing each others names, please accompany me for a walk Sansa, and tell me how it is you came to be in Kings Landing."

Using her the hand that was not entwined with her sons, Joanna turned his face back to hers, dipping his face so she could meet his eyes, "Jaime, the road as not been straight, it never is. You may have strayed from your vows, but I know you- I know you would not have done something so... So, drastic without there being a reason that you believed in with all your heart. You are still my son, and I will always be proud of you. Please do not ever doubt that."

A knight. A Queen. Her children had grown up to be exactly what she wished… And Cersei a mother. Joanna inhaled sharply, keeping her grip on her sons hand. There was still something there, something he was keeping… What kind of mother would she be if she didn’t try to soothe her child in a way? “Jaime, I know that I truly have no right to pry into your life, but please- Please, there is something you are not telling me…”
