         IT WAS NO SECRET  that iris didn’t usually frequent places like saturnalia .  though her life in castle town was much different from what it once was ,  she could never forget her roots ;  growing up at the hazakura temple ,  away from the hustle and bustle of city life .  even now ,  working at the sacred grove proved itself more calm and relaxing than many other jobs around town ,  or even going to university .  her sister ,  unlike herself ,  managed to be not only a student but also an employee at the same flower shop  —  a part of her wondered if she’d ever be capable of handling both things ,  but the girl lacked the interest to do so .  simple things were more than enough to bring her joy …  and yet ,  today was  an exception .  in attempt to change things up a little  ( after all ,  the year is almost over ! ) ,  iris decided to buy takeout for the night rather than cook up a simple little meal for herself ,  or just heat up something pre - made in the microwave ;  which brought her to saturnalia .  she’d heard they offered nice little snacks along with a variety of drinks at the bar ,  and what harm could that cause ?  what she wasn’t counting on ,  however ,  was on running into vienna .  ❝  h - huh ?  ❞  the other girl’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts ,  gentle eyes wide with surprise .  she definitely looked less than presentable ;  after all ,  it had been just another regular work day !  iris could only hope she didn’t have a flower petal in her hair .  ❝  i …  i’ve never been to  the burlesque ,  vienna …  m - my apologies .   i’m sure it’s not a bad place though …  i’ve heard the people there are lovely inside & outside !  ❞  she pauses at the realization of just how odd her statement must have sounded ,  a warm feeling creeping up her cheeks and causing her to return her attention towards the bar .  ❝  my sister might know more about it than i …  did you come here alone ?  ❞

&&  — IMMEDIATELY , VIENNA FINDS HERSELF LIGHTING UP THE MOMENT SHE HEARS IRIS’S VOICE  , carefully pushing a strand of hair back behind her ear. now , she wasn’t even thinking about whoever stood her up - iris had her full attention , and that’s just how she liked it. “ you’ve never been to the burlesque ?? oh , maybe one day i’ll have to drag you. we’ll see which one is better then. ” she crinkles her nose , leaning back in her chair before taking a sip of her drink. “ honestly , i am surprised to see you here. this doesn’t seem like your kind of place , after all , you’re kinda soft. ” she pauses , smirking before glancing down to her drink again. “ not that its a bad thing , it’s just a bit weird to see you here. a good weird. ”

“ oh , alone ?? yeah , ” it’s a lie , though it’s just a pretty white one , right ?? after all , iris didn’t need to know of her . . . embarrassing misadventures this evening , right ?? she bites her lip for a moment , moving her bag off of the chair directly beside her before motioning with her finger for iris to come a little closer. “ c’mere , we should catch up !! ” she smiles , genuinely , patting the chair beside her.

Nicole wasn’t one to meddle with others lives, she usually was the one who couldn’t care less about others unless she were bothered. However, she was always a good observer, and it wasn’t long into her shift that she figured what likely happened to one of the only customers left in the club. She’d been in enough bars to recognize the signs of being stood up. Now as she cleaned up a few leftover empty glasses on the table next to Vienna’s, she found herself being one of the only people around this girl, and being polite was - to her annoyance - part of the job description. So, she glanced over at Vienna and put on a small smirk. “ If I want to keep this job, . .I’ll have to say it is. ” She honestly wasn’t a fan of her waitress job, her past life’s occupation was much more appealing and far more exciting, but it was good money. At least until she could find something more entertaining to do in this town she found herself in not too long ago. Taking a glance at the rest of the room, she made sure her boss wasn’t around to hear what she had just said, before glancing back at her again and adding “ But to be honest, I never was a fan of those kind of lounges anyways. ”

&&  — FEW THINGS TRULY ATTRACT VIENNA’S ATTENTION WHEN MUMBLING IDLE CHATTER WITH OTHERS  , and sadly sass was one of them. the simple , clearly off comment about the job was what immediately sparked a new interest in the conversation , wondering if she herself could find the latest gossip surrounding this place. after all , it was way more intriguing than thinking about getting stood up. she smirks slightly , sitting up straighter before leaning forward in her chair. “ does your boss not let you have freedom of speech ?? wow , that’s quite rude of them , you know. maybe you should try to find somewhere else to work , ” she nods , taking a long sip of her drink before placing it back down. “ like , obvious don’t go just quitting your job , but you could definitely make money on your own. fuck the rest , you know ?? that’s how i like to live life. ” and it’s true , her head often heavy with the fictitious crown she’s given herself. somehow , reminding herself of this boosted her morale , her chin theoretically up high again. “ and i get it. those lounges can be . . . a lot. i mean , especially the people there. there’s this girl there and i swear , working there just makes her more annoying. just nonstop about . . . ugh , ” she rolls her eyes , “ i don’t even want to think about it. places like these are way better , but not by a lot. ” vienna crinkles her nose for a moment , turning away. “ i’m vienna , by the way. ”

&&  — THERE’S A CERTAIN, SPECIAL KIND OF HUMILIATION YOU GET WHEN YOU’RE STOOD UP ON A DATE , vienna’s eyes moving from the drink in front of her to the door , hoping that maybe , possible , the cute girl she met at the diner the other day would walk through those doors. maybe she’s just in traffic ?? granted , it’s not that traffic around the saturnalia was that bad , much less at 8 pm when everyone was finally starting to settle in for the night. the defeat was finally starting to settle over her after finally , she heard the door open again , only to find that , well . . . it wasn’t her. it was enough to make her sink back in her seat , the confident aura she often carried with herself now dissipating as she swore she felt her ego shatter. wow , this was shit. turning to face the person closest to her , she cleared her throat , trying to act as if this was all just a coincidence and that she hadn’t been waiting for someone. after all , nothing was worse to her than showing that kind of emotion. “ so , i’ve heard people say this place is better than the burlesque but honestly i don’t fucking know. what do you think ?? ” it’s dumb , but it’s something.

Surrounded by so many people had never made him feel so alone as it had in that moment, unsure of where it was that he belonged anymore. The crisp air blew against his red cheeks, burning him in such a way that soothed the ache inside of him. Breathing out through the mouth in childlike wonder as the gust of smoke blew out with it, smiling for just one second. He belonged to the earth, to the world around him, it reacted to him and gave him the small comfort of know that at least he had that.  Lost in between memories of two different people that where one in the same, having so much and yet feeling like he had nothing. Wondering if he would ever feel a semblance of normality, or if his world would continue to collide in such a way that he was unsure of how to deal with.  Reality suddenly rushed at him as he found himself in the middle of a crowded street, bumping into people as he moved with the motions. “Excuse me. Sorry. I beg your pardon. Omph,” he mumbled as he finally stepped out of the crowd. “I almost thought i’d be eaten alive.”

&&  — TODAY WAS ALREADY A ROUGH DAY FOR VIENNA. from getting splashed on while on her way to work , spilling water all over herself when she finally got there , and having a less than ideal experience with trying to get a taxi home that ended up failed , well . . . she just wasn’t having it. somebody bumping into her was just the tipping point of it all , an irritated groan immediately leaving her lips. of fucking course. she just couldn’t get a break , could she ?? “ well , honestly you’re lucky i don’t eat you alive. do you see this purse ?? it’s fucking versace , if it had fallen or some shit , it could have been ruined. ” rolling her eyes , she crosses her arms. “ you shouldn’t just be walking on some street where there’s clearly a ton of people if you’re not going to pay attention. i mean , you did bump into like , three other people before me , you know. ” there really wasn’t any holding back now , and while normally she wouldn’t have cared too much , it seemed as if this innocent person was going to fall victim to her tongue.

i. vienna actually has never had her first kiss yet. which is weird , considering the fact that she has dated people. she just has yet to let anyone kiss her , often times ducking away. it’s a bit of an insecurity thing , fearing that , well , if she lets them kiss her & she ends up falling … she may end up being the one heartbroken. it’s what keeps her at a distance in her relationships. 

ii. her favorite season is fall , simply because of the style. she loves to be able to wear skirts with tights and tall boots , turtle necks with her favorite sweaters and leather jackets over it. she feels like she thrives the most aesthetically during this time , compared to the summer where she’s always sweating her ass off or the winter where she’s so cold she can’t even consider putting on something cute. fall is her perfect medium. 

iii. she used to really want to do theatre !! it’s only because of her immense love of musicals , specifically the heathers and mean girls musicals where she feels as if she herself was destined to play heather chandler or reginia george. of course , the only reason she didn’t is because of the immense amount of stage friend she has - she hates it when the attention is on her , believe it or not , often opting to have other people do her bidding for this reason. she’s much better at being a snake in the grass when it comes to situations like that. regardless , a girl can dream , right ??

i. despite what vienna might try to get you to think, her family hasn’t always been wealthy - in fact , far from it. for a while there growing up , her family was quite poor , something that always internalized her with some guilt as she felt as if they shouldn’t have adopted her ( even though , she is eternally greatful that they did. ) because of this , she started hauling ass at the age of 12 , starting her own business empire in school with the locker buddies at the school supply store. she was essentially “hired” to help run it , and she did , charging kids 2x the price for things and pocketing the extra money. she always slipped some into her father’s savings jar , smiling to herself as she listened in on her adopted parents now ecstatic that they have an extra few bucks to spend. her father did eventually get a better job , however she never stopped placing money in the jar just to see him smile. 

ii. vienna also isn’t the cold , heartless bitch she likes to swear she is. she can be quite caring , with it mainly coming out to those she considers friend. while she’s not one to simply stop her jabbing jokes and cold demeanors , this care comes out in the form of running across town in the rain to bring you lunch if you haven’t eaten yet , making sure you’re taken care of when you’re sick , and forcing you to have a sleep over with her if she knows you’ve been feeling sad. if called out , she’ll completely deny it and insult you in some way , but she does genuinely care.

SO BEFORE CASTLE TOWN , VERA WAS THE BADDEST BITCH IN THIS PLACEEEEEE though every bad bitch has her start n well.... vera’s was not so good.

so vera was actually an orphan for a portion of her life before, finally being adopted into the oberlin family. this is a huge part of who she is as well. . . every action she makes is in order to try to repay her father, feeling as she’s eternally at debt

which like, she’s not - her parents did it out of kindness but she’s just always trying to repay him

so, she gets involved in crime. lots of it at that, which i won’t go into detail as it is triggering but like.... bby girl has an underground mafia going down tbh. or well, not even underground bc she is loud asf about it

she’s one of the potential dates in monster prom - and is honestly one of the hardest to get bc she has p high standards *looks to my 800000000 rejections from vera*

of course, this vera doesn’t get a friendly ending - in fact, it’s quite the opposite as her friends end up unleashing what i’m literally just gonna refer to as the anti christ on the world, death and destruction essentially wiping out her entire class :)

and her last memory is trying to carry her adopted sibling to safety.... fun!

i would say her castle town life is a lot better but honestly... it’s not.

she still ends up getting adopted at a young age, which is good, however that immense feeling of needing to repay him back and she fell back in with shady deals - far less illegal deals, however still shady.

she became known as a mean girl throughout ct, the bitch.
