So like the Hufflepuff House mascot being a badger was always a little strange to me for a house as supposedly as chill as they are, because I’m American and I didn’t realize that in England badgers are basically little chill dudes who make giant burrow homes for the entire neighborhood to live in and eat and act more like raccoons then the badges we know here. What we’re familiar with here is… well American Badgers aren’t African Honey badger level (you know what I mean, you know exactly what I mean) by any means but you can definitely still tell they’re related to wolverines and stuff.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts/headcannons about what the “true” houses for Harry Potter characters are.

The thing about that is... I’ve always seen the houses as the traits the characters admire and want to eventually have; rather the ones they do at the start. Either that, or they admire people who are in their house. Or what the house stands for.

Hermione’s shown Ravenclaw traits since the beginning of the series, but she was put in Gryffindor becasuse she admires bravery. Ron’s shown Hufflepuff traits but still wants to be in Gryffindor because everyone in his family is in there. And yes, of course Harry has Slytherin traits but he chose to be Gryffindor instead. At the time especially he admired what Gryffindor stood for more than Slytherin.

And guess what? They’ve all had they’re Gryffindor moments in the end.

The sorting hat is hardly ever wrong.

Hermione was wondering how (stupid) Rita Skeeter could have known what's been going on while they were using scarab beetles in potions.

And what does Rita's secret end up being? How does it turn out she knows all this stuff?She can turn into a beetle.

You can compete about which Hogwarts house is the best house all you want, but the truth is every house has good traits.

Gryffindors value bravery and courage which leads them to save those in need.

Slytherins value ambition and determination which leads them to reach their goal or goals.

Ravenclaws value intelligence and creativity which leads them to be successful in their own ways.

Hufflepuffs value kindness and loyalty which leads them to help others as much as they can.

And these aren't even the only traits the houses have and the only things they can do.

Every house is amazing in its own way. Every one.
