Oikawa x Reader <3

You and Oikawa had been best friends since you were kids. You did everything together. Playing at the park, sneaking in late-night movies whenever either his or your parents were out of town, even helping Iwaizumi catch bugs (which, to be honest, you both secretly hated). As you got older, not much changed. You still teased each other non-stop and shared secrets no one else would ever hear as well as act like literal children around eachother when you two fight, and somehow look even closer after. But to you and Oikawa, those silly insults felt comfortable, almost like a warm hug in your own weird language. It wasn’t meant to be mean. It was meant to show closeness. 

Oikawa loved to act like he was the star of every moment, and lowkey, he was. He’d practice one serve, flash that smug grin, and brag about his “world-class serves” You’d roll your eyes so hard it almost hurt. But behind all the bragging, you knew him better than anyone else. You’d seen him stay late after practice, hitting ball after ball until his shoulders ached. You’d caught him staring off quietly, worry in his eyes whenever his team lost, even if he’d laugh it off a second later. You’d were always there for him. Sometimes you’d sit on the gym floor, tossing him water bottles and telling him to stop being a dumbass before he hurt himself. He’d pout and complain, but he always listened. Sometimes, when he thought you weren’t paying attention, he’d smile a soft, tired smile that wasn’t meant for the crowd, only for you. Even when he acted dramatic, you stayed. Like when he’d flop down next to you, sigh deeply, and say, “y/nnnnnn, the world is so cruel to pretty people like me.” You’d flick his forehead and call him an idiot, but after the teasing and insulting you’d always share a grin, or a laugh. It was messy and a little ridiculous. Some nights, when he was too tired, he’d text you: “Did I do okay today?” And you’d always answer yes, because you meant it. And even though you were just best friends (at least, that’s what you kept telling yourself), it felt good to be the person he trusted most. Because under all the drama and jokes, Oikawa was still that little boy who wanted so badly to be enough. and you were always going to be there to remind him that he was more than enough. 

Whenever Oikawa had a game. He felt a big relief whenever he saw you in the crowd or waiting outside the gym. He’d spot you, flash that annoyingly perfect grin, and for a second, all the tension on his shoulders faded away. Some days, he’d walk you home after practice, rambling about volleyball, random alien theories, or what kind of boba you should get next time. You’d tease him for yapping so much, but you liked the sound of his voice filling the quiet street. Other times, you’d catch him staring at you mid-conversation. When you asked why, he’d shrug and say, “Can’t a talented and pretty boy admire his number one fan?” “Awww you admire me?? how sweet” “bitch just never mind” “WAIT NO IM SORRY-“ 

Even when you argued, even over something dumb like who’d win in Mario Kart or whose milk tea order tasted worse, it never lasted. Five minutes later, he’d poke your cheek until you gave him a reaction like threaten to post one of his ugly sleeping photos. Your friends called it chaos. You called it normal. Because to you and Oikawa, the insults, the laughter, and the gentle moments in between were all just parts of the same story you’d been writing together since you were kids.

One night, you were sitting outside a small shop after his practice. The street was quiet except for the sound of cars passing by. Oikawa kept fidgeting, tapping his foot and looking everywhere but at you. Finally, he took a deep breath, his face turning bright red. “If you say no, I’ll tell everyone you hate (favorite band/musician)” he blurted out, his voice shaking a little. He tried to laugh it off, but his hands were shaking too. You stared at him for a second, surprised. “What are you talking about??” you replied back. His smile slipped for a moment, and he let out a shaky breath. “I mean… I like you y/n..” he said, quieter this time. “Not just as my best friend. Not just because you’re always there, even when I’m a pain in the ass.” You opened your mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Oikawa kept going, eyes locked on the sidewalk instead of you. “I know I joke mess around a lot with you and just- in general” he said, his voice rough at the edges, “and I know I act like an idiot. But when things go wrong.. when I lose a game, when I feel like nothing I do is ever enough. it’s always you I look for” The streetlight above flickered. He laughed softly, but it sounded sad. “You’re the only person who makes me feel like I’m still worth something, even when I mess everything up.” His hands clenched in his lap. “I don’t know when it happened,” he whispered. “Maybe it was always there. But lately, it’s all I can think about. And I’m scared as hell because if you don’t feel the same… I don’t wanna lose you.” Finally, he looked up at you. His eyes, usually so full of teasing and jokes, were serious and soft in a way that made your chest ache. “So.. I like you. I really, really like you y/n. And if you don’t feel the same, that’s okay. Just… please don’t leave..” For a moment, neither of you spoke. The city felt too quiet, like it was holding its breath with you. “You’re such an idiot” You teased him one more time before hugging him. “Can I at last be your idiot?” he said hugging you back “I wouldn’t want anything else Tooru.” His arms wrapped around you so tightly it almost hurt, his forehead pressing against your shoulder. “I’m so glad” he said with so much relief. “I don’t know when it happened either. But it’s you, Tooru. It’s always been you.” For a second , neither of you moved. The cars kept passing by, the city kept living its life around you,but right there, in that tiny space between your faces, it felt like time had stopped. you leaning in to kiss him. His eyes went wide before closing, and for the first time, neither of you had anything teasing to say. For a few seconds, you both just sat there, looking at each other and smiling. It felt strange and perfect at the same time. You’d always been close, but now it felt different, softer, but it was also exciting to wonder and see what’s to come for the two of you. He laughed and bumped his shoulder against yours. “I’m gonna tell Iwa-chan first. He’s going to be so annoyed,” he said happily.

Kuroo x Fem reader! ->PT. 1

6:30 A.M, at home

You wake up groggy and sit up in bed, rubbing your eyes. The first thing on your mind is… Kuroo. You groan into your pillow. “Ughhh, why am I thinking about his dumb hair first thing in the morning?” 

7:20 A.M, at school

You’re determined to ignore him like usual. No big deal.. right? Yesterday was just a weird one-day thing… RIGHT?.. Not even two steps into the hallway before you hear him. “Good morning, gorgeous!” You stop and slowly turn, expecting his usual smirk and cheesy wink. Instead… Kuroo is standing there, holding… a coffee? “For you!” he says, pushing the coffee toward you. “Figured you could use some caffeine since you look… tired.” You give him a look that says, “Are you serious?” “So, did you just insult me and compliment me at the same time?” you ask. He grins sheepishly. “You know me.” “Yeah, yeah.” You roll your eyes, but accept the coffee. “Thanks, Kuroo.” You offer a faint smile as you walk to class.

7:30 A.M, in class

You’re slumped at your desk, forehead resting on your folded arms. Yaku slides in beside you and nudges your shoulder gently. “You okay? You look… off.” "Right so I just look terrible today." Yaku furrowed one of his brows confused at what you meant by that, but glances toward Kuroo, who's laughing with someone across the room. You sigh, flicking an eyeroll his way. “It’s Kuroo. He’s… I don’t know. It’s weird.” Yaku nods. “Yesterday he was actually paying attention to what you were saying.. not just throwing jokes around.” He leans forward. “That’s new.”You shrug, playing arounf with your bracelet. “I guess. But he still gets under my skin. Like, today he bought me coffee. Surprise gesture, right? But then he winks like he wants me to swoon or something.” You laugh, shaking your head. “It’s so confusing.. I don’t like it.. hes just another womanizer” Yaku smiles and shrugs. “Maybe he’s trying to show you a different side of him.. I dont know y/n” You stare at your notebook, thoughts making you feel woozy. After a second, you peaked at Kuroo through your arms “Yeah. Maybe.”

5:00 P.M, during practice

That afternoon, you're stacking towels when you overhear a conversation nearby. Lev leans in close to Kenma, voice barely audible. “Do you think Kuroo has a crush on Y/N?” Kenma doesn’t even look up. His fingers still tapping against his phone screen. He says, “Took you long enough to notice..” Lev gasps so loudly your hand trembles and a water bottle nearly slips out of your grasp. You catch it mid-roll, heart thumping. “Crush??!!nononothatcantbeimjustanothergirlhelikestomesswithwhatthehellwhatthehellywhatwhatuhbailatucuerpoalegriamacarenaayyymacarenaimgoingcrazy..crazy??iwascrazyonce..WHYWOULDHELIKEMEEAGHHHWHATNONONO” you’re so swamped with thoughts. You can’t think straight and you finish cleaning the equipment like a robot with stiff limbs due to the conversation you overhead. You stay in the equipment room because you can’t think straight. You can’t look at Kuroo or be in the same room as him. Practice ends and the gym empties quickly. The silence nice. Then you sense someone behind you. Kuroo stands in the middle of the gym, arms crossed loosely, leaning on the frame. His posture is casual, but his eyes are fixed on you. “Need help?” No teasing edge, no smirk. You meet his eyes, skeptical. “No… I just finished.” He steps in, lowering his arms but not speaking. That silent space is heavy. He reaches for a towel you forgot to put away, folding it without breaking eye contact. The simplicity of the gesture carries weight. You inhale slowly, feeling the tension in your fingers ease. It’s small, just a shared task. Yet it feels different from his usual showoff personality. “Thanks.” You say looking away breaking the eye contact. He takes it, returns a quiet smile, the kind you realize is just for you, not the rest of the team. In the hush, words aren’t needed. You both know something's shifted.

6:00 P.M, After practice

Kuroo offers to walk you home. This time, you don’t argue. The streets are quiet, the sun just starting to set, and for once… he’s not being loud or obnoxious. He tells you dumb little stories about when he and Yaku were kids, and you catch yourself laughing a little too much. Halfway to your house, he suddenly stops and scratches the back of his neck. “Hey… uh… so…” he starts awkwardly. You raise an eyebrow. “Spit it out, captain.” He takes a deep breath. “I know I come off as… annoying. And flirty. And kind of… full of myself. And my reputation doesn’t help either. But with you… I don’t mean it like that. I actually… you know… like you.” You blink. Hard. He clears his throat. “Like… actually like you. Not just messing around. I just… don’t know how else to talk to you without acting like a total dork.” You stare at him. Then, after a long beat, you grin. “Wow,” you say. “That was… painfully awkward. But… kind of sweet!" Giving him a teasing smile. He groans. “You’re gonna tease me now?” You smirk. “Oh, absolutely.” But then you nudge his arm, and say softly: “I like this version of you better. So… don’t stop being him, okay?” a crooked smile spread on his face. “Deal. As long as you call me out when I’m being an idiot.” You laugh. “That’s a promise.” You bump his arm and he chuckles, glancing at you with a soft smile. For the rest of the walk, you two stay quiet, just walking beside each other. No jokes, no teasing. When you reach your doorstep, you realize you’re already looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.

The next day, 7:10 A.M In school

You're at your locker when you hear him. “Morning,” Kuroo says, voice quieter than usual. You turn and see him leaning against the lockers a few feet away, hands in his pockets, waiting for your reaction. Instead of rolling your eyes or ignoring him, you give him a small smile. “Morning, captain.” His chest puffs out just a little at that. He walks with you to class for the first time ever. No cheesy lines, just a normal conversation. He tells you about Lev accidentally hitting himself in the face with a volleyball during warm-ups, and you laugh harder than you probably should while imagining it. Before you split for class, he bumps your shoulder gently. “Thanks… for not shutting me down,” he says softly. You meet his eyes and hold his gaze a moment. Then you reply, “I haven’t agreed to anything. I’m just giving you a chance to prove you’re not the guy everyone talks about.” Kuroo’s surprised for a second, then a small, grateful smile tugs at his lips. “Fair enough,” he says, with a kind of hopeful tone. You nod and turn toward your classroom. You walk into the classroom together, side by side. A few heads turn, but you stay focused. Kuroo pauses by your desk before making his way back to his seat. He leans in quietly and says, “So… I guess I’ll have to start showing you I’m not just all talk.” “I believe you’ll try.” During class, you catch his eye once or twice. When the bell rings, you gather your things. Instead of heading to the door, Kuroo appears at your side. He starts walking with you in the hallway. “So, after practice today…” he begins, sounding casual. “Hey, after practice… would you want to walk home together? Maybe grab a drink or something on the way?” You offer a gentle nod. “Yeah, I’d like that!” With a big smile.

Reputation vs. Reality (PT. 1)

Kuroo x fem reader!

Kuroo has always been notorious for fooling around. Teasing girls, flirting with them in the cheesiest ways. His player reputation is simply through the roof, specially this year. And while plenty of girls swoon over him, you know better. His flirtatious ways sicken you, and to your luck, you have to deal with the teasing, everyday. You’re Nekoma's volleyball team’s manager, and you’ve grown attached to the team. You don’t have it in you to leave them. But either way, you cannot stand being around Kuroo. The other guys have a deep respect for you, they would never do anything to purposely upset you or make you uncomfortable. (They’re almost like little bothers to you in a way) Kuroo however, every chance he gets, he picks at you.

“Hey sweets could you pass me that water bottle?” “Ya look great today baby”, lots of whistling. “Oh im sorry mama..” “Angry cheeks over there is about to crucify me so I better go..” “Hey there’s my pretty lady”

It’s so suffocating, irritating. Hell, all the synonyms for annoying and anger inducing while we’re at it. Yet you refuse to give him so much as a flicker of reaction. You wont entertain him with your wrath. Although, compared to other years.. This year, he’s only picked on you.. no other girl. No no, maybe he talks to others outside of school... over the phone? Yeah, that it.

8:30 a.m, at school

“My pretty y/n! Good morning!!” Yelled the dark haired nuisance from across the hallway as you were heading to class. You clenched your jaw, trying to ignore him, but he caught up to you. “Y/n I have to talk to you” You turn around slowly with a “what the hell do you want now??” face expecting him to spit out whatever he has to say or ask you. “After practice today, the guys and I are going out to eat. Wanna join us?” he asked, offering a genuine smile. He doesn’t seem to have malicious intensions right now. You furrowed your brows thinking and then looked up at him “Sure, I have nothing after practice today- Is that all?” he nods  “Yep! See you then, sweets!” he winked before walking away. You walk away without a reaction. “GOD I HATE HIM. I CANT STAND THAT FACE AND STUPID HAIR HES SO STUOIDJIFJ..” you think to yourself as you walk to class.

5:30 p.m, after practice

“Hey y/n!! Thank you for helping out today!” Yaku says to you. “Of course Yaku! That’s what I’m here for you don’t need to thank me” You reply back, “You did great today everyone!!” You yells out loud for the entire team to hear. They all thank you for today.  You continue to organize towels and water bottles in their corresponding place in the equipment closet. While placing water bottles on their shelf, you drop one on accident and it rolls to the edge of the door. Before you get the chance to grab it, someone else has already done so. It was none other than Kuroo. You look up at him with an unamused expression. “So about that dinner..” He starts to ramble “Everyone else already headed out. I didn’t want to leave you alone or think we just left you or even forgot about you so..” He leans on the door frame “We can walk there together” he gave you another genuine smile.. not a smirk or that stupid Flynn Rider-looking smolder. You nod at him and looked at the bottle in his hand. “Oh right.. there ya go!” He hands you the water bottle. "Do you need any help carrying anything?" he asks. You shake your head while still looking at him. "No, I'm okay. Thank you." He smiled at you again “no problem, I’ll be at the door waiting for you” you look at him one more time “okay” and give him a smile back. 

Kuroo's unexpected gentleness catches you off guard. He was been so soft.. so sweet.. he’s never been like this before. You two have never been alone like this either. You like this Kuroo.

You finish putting away the water bottles, get your bag, and make your way towards the gym door. Kuroo waiting outside at the steps looks at you as soon as you step out with glistening eyes. “Ready? Not forgetting anything?” He asked you. “No we can head out” you said smiling at him. “Let’s go then,” he says, returning your smile and stepping aside to let you walk in front of him.

6:20 p.m, at the restaurant

You guys meet up with the rest of the team as planned. You end up sitting between Kuroo and Lev, across from Kenma and Yaku and everyone else around. After a few lighthearted therapy sessions, and some relationship advice for your lovesick teammates, it was time to pay the check. You asked for your half of the check to the waiter and he gives it to you not too long after. “Thank you so much” you said bowing ur head ever so slightly “My pleasure” The waiter replied back and proceeded to walk away. Kuroo looks over at the waiter and looks at you. “Whoooops” Kuroo said talking your check and slipping his card in it. You furrowed your brows and looked at him “I can pay for it myself you know..”"Yeah, but what kind of man would I be if I let a pretty lady pay for her meal?" he teases. Your eye twitches at the words "pretty lady," but you let him pay regardless. After all, it's not every day someone insists on treating you. (Let my girl catch a break ok.. god forbid a girl like her stuff payed by someone else) 

7:30 p.m, walking home

You and Yaku are neighbors, and you walk home together every day. Yaku is fully aware of your hatred toward Kuroo’s reputation and attitude. “He’s stopped hitting on the other girls at school this year..” you say quietly. “But it doesn’t change that he still thinks he’s smooth.” Yaku glances at you from the corner of his eye, gentle concern coming from him. “I know..” he replies. “You know.. he really isn’t a bad guy y/n” Yaku says gently. You pause on the sidewalk, Yakus tone was quiet but certain. “I mean, he stopped flirting with everyone else once he started coming after you.” You pull in a slow breath, nodding but not meeting his eyes. The street is silent except for distant cars. “Maybe,” you murmur. “But it doesn’t change how he comes off.. He could be talking to other girls too” You look at the ground “there’s many girls who come up to him when you guys compete at different schools" Yaku shrugs and smiles softly. “Fair” he says. “But I’ve seen him in moment.. When he doesn’t realize you’re watching.. when he’s different. He’s... genuine.” You look up at him remembering when you and Kuroo were alone in the gym earlier that day. You don’t have any words left about the situation, so you just nod. Yaku gives you a small, understanding smile before heading towards his house. “I’ll cya tomorrow y/n” “cya!” You reply back as you open your door. Walking in and heading to your room as you ponder about how today might be the start of something different.

You walk inside, close the door, and think about Kuroo. Today, he wasn’t all charm. You noticed something softer in his eyes when you talked in the gym. The way you felt his hand brush yours as he took the check, and heard a moment’s pause before he teased you. Like he was careful not to cross a line. It all felt honest and quiet, not trying too hard to be a show off. Is that.. the real Kuroo?? You finish your nighttime routine and head to bed, but the topic stays on your mind. You drift off to sleep still thinking, with a dozen questions running through your head.
