That and surprising family members with a new puppy or kitten after their own passed away. Working at PetStores I’ve seen the mom and daughters buy a guinea pig for their husband/dad only to return in the next day or so. 

Please please do you’re research on the animal before deciding if you are willing to care for it. If worse comes to worse, surrendering the animal to a no kill shelter is the best way if there isn’t any other way possible to care for it. It’s totally a shite move to do that to a pet but it’s better than releasing them into the wild where they mostly have 0 chance of survival being all domesticated and such.

Christmas PSA

Don’t fucking give an animal as a gift.

Animals are not objects or toys.

They are living breathing beings that need constant attention well after Christmas.

Don’t fucking do it.

Animal shelters take in more surrenders after the holidays than any other time of year.
