Yeah p sure the point is she's a Targaryen but she's not a TARGARYEN™, yknow? She's not gonna Go Mad cuz she's the actual chosen one this time
Seeing people refer to Daenerys as entitled, or narcissistic is so actually mind boggling. Like DAENERYS???? The Daenerys who never even had a proper home??? The girl who said she would not rule of ash?? And wanted a happy kingdom??? The girl Who listens to all of her people’s complaints almost everydau??? Same girl who cried over chaining her dragons away??? THE GIRL who is legit kind to people who aren’t even close to deserving it (Viserys, Jorah)??? LIKE DAENERYSSS?!??!?!?!?!??

favorite Cersei Lannister moments in the books
every time she's compared to a cat. I love that she hissed in her first POV chapter
her hearing that she will be killed by her brother/a brother and not once in all of 30 years thinking it might be the other one of her two brothers
the literally one scene in the whole book where her and Tyrion are happy with each other because theyre both laughing at how stupid Renly is (and then he poisons her with laxatives)
when she keeps fucking and seducing the Kettleblacks, gets one of them to kill the pope, and at no point seems to think her Kettleblack based infrastructure might have flaws
when she's like "ugh Robert only kept Jalabhar Xho around because he probably was thinking about Summer Island women… with their big dark nipples… wearing nothing but feathers…"
when she's running through the sept trying to evade capture and it genuinely reads like a Tom & Jerry scene
when she makes Aurane Waters her admiral because he reminds her of Rhaegar and then he embezzles all her shit and runs off
WHEN TAENA JOKES ABOUT MARGAERY AND LORAS HAVING INCESTUOUS SEX AND CERSEI IS LIKE "OK WRAP IT UP"
Tumblr media
I really do think Cersei is smart and cunning and able to use many things to her advantage. I also think that she immediately got drunk on power and made less than ideal choices during AFFC

Cersei only knows how to be a Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain. Qyburn is like Dr Weird from ATHF to me
A lot of people in the Fandom are saying cersei is dumb but I don't think that's true. Her plans do in fact work but they are kinda rushed and she doesn't think of the consequences it might have on her
I tend to agree that Cersei's hamstrung more by her temperament than her raw intellect - that plus her relative lack of political education has done her negative favours.
That said, the fact that her plans work and then have consequences way beyond what she anticipated is often precisely the thing that shows up how bad the initial plan was. Other people would have predicted that failing to pay the Iron Bank would result in the Iron Bank funding their political opponents, other people would have predicted that going after a political ally would blow up the alliance, etc. People aren't wrong to say that Cersei's plans are, objectively, from what everyone knew at the time, bad plans.

if anything Jon's arc is like, the OPPOSITE of the Night's King story. He falls in love with an Other(ed) woman from a cold land who dies, he becomes LC of the Watch and changes the organization in ways his brothers disapprove of and they kill him for it.
What do you think about the theory that Jon is going to become the new Night King, that he is going to fight on the side of the dead and cause the fall of the wall?
Hey! I’m assuming this is coming off my post that touches on Jon’s potential parallels with the Night King, so I’m sorry for the late reply.
While I do think that Jon’s arc will take him to the rims of the abyss, he’s still going to be operating within the framework of the traditional fantasy hero! Jon is, and always will be, one of the good guys, even while he has to toe around morally ambiguous actions while working towards the greater good. A theory crafted around him turning over to the “dark side”, so to speak, and aligning with the dead is (forgive my bluntness) such a brain dead take. In no way is it based on a strong understanding of the text, Jon’s character, or the Others’ function in the story. I’ve seen different variations of this theory: 1) from people trying to make the Others sympathetic, which I think is a futile task since that’s not the point of their inclusion in the story, or 2) to try and make Jon non-threatening and push him further away from the main heroic figures, i.e., Azor Ahai.
This is not to say that Jon isn’t connected to the Others in some way; he is, as is House Stark as a whole. But he isn’t one of their agents or puppets. Nor is he going to be their promised messiah (sorry LML). As a whole, Jon’s parallels with the Others is more about his connection to the North and its magic. It’s about his status as one chosen by the gods of the Northern snows and weirwoods.
So to answer your question, that particular theory is stupid and should not even be a part of fandom conversation lol. I mean it completely falls apart when we ask the first, and most important, question: why, what’s the point of this in the first place?

the most delusional cersei hater take is that she want that hot she was just vain and “the light in the west” thing is clearly some hag cope. meanwhile every cat chapter she’s like “you gotta give cersei credit. she’s the baddest bitch in the south. i don’t even fw her but i can’t deny her long golden hair and massive tits”

From Davos' wife's perspective, Asoiaf is kind of like The Odyssey. She waits at home with the remains of her family after her husband went off to war on foreign shores and presumably died. He has been hanging out with kings, nobles, pirates and an immortal(?) witch. Also he was last seen being sent to an island of cannibals and mythical creatures by a Merman Lord; but not before said lord declared to all the realms that he was dead.
Tell me, O Grrm, of the reliable knight who sailed far and wide...

it is funny that 99% of in-universe "maester conspiracy" rhetoric is the ramblings of a bitter old woman to reekified-theon . you can draw a straight line between barbrey dustin being upset that future warden of the north brandon stark was betrothed to someone else to delusional f&b stans who believe that maegor the cruel was actually an innocent precious cinnamon roll

From a 2007 forum post about how Catelyn Stark is not “romanticized” unlike other female characters in Asoiaf who challenge gender norms with a reference to her subversion of the Wuthering Heights parallel.
