at the Neopets Birthday Celebration event last night they had a projector set up where we could show off our pets and accounts but the infuriating captcha system of Neopets dot com made it so that we were spending more time on trying to help each other decipher busses and crosswalks on the dim projection than we were on looking at each other’s accomplishments

ok so. neopets is "throwing" a bunch of parties in a bunch of different cities. so many of them that there's probably one near you if you're in the us or canada.

now i am very excited about this. but lemme share some background on this, cause... woof.

TNT took volunteers from Sept 18-Oct 1. You might notice that's only 2 months before the event.

The volunteer form basically only asked the following: Where are you? Do you know if there are other Neopets players there? Do you have a venue in mind? Will there be food or drinks? Do you have any ideas for activities? How much do you expect it to cost?

Note that it did not ask about prior event planning experience. Also note that the only support TNT is offering is decor, merch, and a promo. I full expect the latter to be a throwaway, easily missable post on social media.

The tl:dr; terms and conditions for the volunteers are: you're in charge of the finances and should only charge enough admission to cover the costs. We will not help you with planning.

Someone in the JN comments section mentioned they got their acceptance only "a few days ago" (that is, only with about 2.5-3 weeks of forewarning).

Cities were released today with roughly only 2 weeks til the event, but where in the city, venue, date, time, pricing, how to RSVP, etc are all STILL unknown. The hosts have been saying they can't give more details without the go ahead of TNT.
