Music Discovery: Three Bands You Need To Know

To finish off the week last Friday I wanted to catch up with my gorgeous friend Silvia and so, we headed to The World’s End in near Finsbury Park. The venue is known for hosting live acts but so far nothing had caught my attention. So, to my surprise, what was supposed to be a quiet get together turned to be a full night of discovering some incredible music talent from London and beyond. I was so impressed with the musicians that decided to highlight them in a write-up!

The Campervan Dancers

Born out of serendipity, travelling affection, and musical prowess, Chelsea and Ryan spend their time wandering across the world and bringing their delightful campervan sounds wherever they go. And they know how to leave a mark. This husband and wife-duo sing and play together in perfect harmony. Their folksy, uplifting music and undeniable stage presence filled the venue with light quite literally. For a moment there I felt that, instead of an indoor pub in rainy London, I was walking barefoot on a beach somewhere or lying in a field without a single worry in the world. “Most of the songs were written on a beach actually”, said Chelsea when I shared how their music made me feel.

And can we talk about the band’s aesthetic for a minute?! Everything about these guys radiates positivity, happiness and joy. Also, if Ryan’s proposal to Chelsea doesn’t make you cry I don’t know what will.

The Sydney based musicians are exploring London at the moment so make sure not to miss them. If you’re around Colombia Flower Market (what a perfect place!) this weekend, look out for their beautiful tunes.

Two Ways Home

Next on stage were Lewis & Isabella, a.k.a. Two Ways Home. Their country-infused folk rock made us want to get up, spin and dance all night. The tunes were full of energy, upbeat rhythm to which Lewis & Isabella’s voices fit perfectly.

The Anglo – Austrian band is on the verge or releasing a video for their second single from their latest EP: Better Days, and will be touring the Midlands in May as well as Europe and the US later on in the year.

Callum Gardner

Finishing the night in style was up to the extremely talented Callum Gardner. Give the boy a guitar and watch the magic happen.

Singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist, he’s been gigging and recording in London since 2014. In fact. after performing over 30 shows at 29 different venues last year, Callum put together a band to showcase his material at a more complex level, which joined him on stage at The World’s End after a few solo performances.

His voice and stage presence blew me away. In between famous covers, Callum’s style and original material reminded me of Ed Sheeran and I really believe he will integrate his music into the London scene. I already can’t wait to hear his forthcoming EP ‘Acoustic Solution’ (released at the beginning of May). When is his next show?, I hear you ask. You’re in luck – Callum is performing at the gorgeous Kensington Roof Gardens on the 29th of April. Put it in your diary now!

The superb selection of the artists on the night was by Success Express Music, a platform supporting emerging artists and bands from early shows to UK tours.
