Not again.
It felt like every time you had something--anything-- planned, it always went south. If it were dates, meeting up with friends, hell even colleagues about work it always seemed like something happened wrong, excuse after excuse to cancel.
At the start you assumed it was just your luck. Maybe this just wasn't your week. But, soon weeks turned into months and months, and you couldn't trust a person to keep their promises on plans, not even your closest friends.
I mean, maybe it was you. Maybe you were too outgoing in the wrong situations, but too quiet in the right situations. Maybe you werent people's usual type, but maybe people felt like they couldnt compete with you. It was all so confusing and as much as you read into every situation, you couldnt find a straight answer.
There were so many voices in your head telling you to be quieter, to put yourself out there more, but to still be professional and likeable.
That was until you met Frank. Even with just small interactions in the apartment hallways, and elevators, you always felt like he cared. It was weird, you didnt think much of it, he probably just felt bad for you... right?
But, when he came knocking at your door covered in bruises and slashes all over him, something changed. The look he gave you when you cleaned his cuts, and put ointment on his bruises, something in his eyes looked different. You couldnt bear to look into his eyes for more than a couple seconds, it was too... intimate in a way.
With how things were going though, canceled date after canceled date, you couldnt think of one reason why someone would want you, to actually desire you.
One knock at the door turned into one after another, more scars and scratches on him. You never really questioned what he did, as it would get too real for you, but you had an idea. You couldnt shake the way he looked at you though. Full of desire and care and... no not love, youre jumping to conclusions way to fast.
It was until you were sitting on your kitchen counter, waiting for a new date--someone your friend had introduced to you-- to respond. It had taken him about a week to just start to come up with plans, and when the time came, he took at least 3 hours to respond to each text you sent. You held hope for as long as you could, but after you got ready and texted him with absolutely no response, it all washed away.
You wouldnt let yourself get mad, or miserable about this though. Maybe you just werent meant for this whole dating thing. You slide off the counter, smoothing your dress down and giving yourself one last look in the mirror before changing and washing everything off when you heard a knock at your door. An unmistakeable one at that.
You walk over to the door, taking one look into the peephole just to make sure, and it was exactly who you thought it would be. But this time, he wasnt covered in cuts and slashed, he actually was just wearing a t-shirt and sweater over his broad shoulders. Your brows furrowed slightly at the sight of him. Now, you rarely ever saw him normal, or as normal as he could get.
You unlock the door and open it smiling at the look of him.
"Hi Frank," you say, your brows furrowing slightly, "what happened are you okay?"
He looks down at you, not sure what to make of your appearance. He never really had seen you all done up but damn, you were heavenly.
It was like you were a celestial that just fell from the sky, being the only light in his dark and lonely night.
"Uh, can I come in?" was all he could muster up after seeing the sight of you, his eyes drafting to behind you into the apartment because he didn't think he could stand to look at you without doing something rash.
"Of course, come on." You smile and step aside to let him into your apartment. "I was about to go out but I don't think im going to anymore. I just kind of don't feel like it, not that he was even responding anym-"
Suddenly, as you turn around further into your apartment you feel a gentle but firm hand on your arm pulling you around, sending you into his chest. The other hand meets your face, three fingers intertwined with your hair, the other two lightly caressing your jaw and lower cheek.
You were speechless, more than speechless, frozen. What the hell was he doing?
"I shoulve done this a long time ago." Frank says, that same glint in his eyes as he abruptly connects your lips.
It was like instant fireworks in your stomach, all exploding at once. All the different colors letting go of all these emotions and finally getting what you've been waiting for all these years.
It started off soft, Frank mostly testing and making sure this is what you wanted, but when you didnt pull back he let hismelf go.
His hands find your waist, fully engulfing you and pressing your body desperately closer to him. Your hands wrap around his neck, laying gently on the start of his hair as the kiss got more heated.
All those thoughts of self doubt- of hopelessness all went away in what felt like miliseconds. It was like a wave just came crashing onto you and washing away all those insecure and timid thougts you had built up for what felt like years.
Your lips molded together impossibly, and for a moment you wished the earth would just swallow you on the spot so you could disappear knowing you got exactly what you were desperate for.
He slowly pulls back, your lips feeling cold and lonely immediately. His eyes find yours, trying to search for something, anything that told you this was wrong.
"You dont know how long I've wanted to do that for." He grumbles, utterly out of breath.
A smile appears on your face, soaking up each of his words and the feeling of his hands on you.
"You dont know how long I've wanted that for."
A carefree smile appears on his face. He couldnt wrap his head around the fact that you wanted this, but you couldnt begin to rationalize why he wanted you.
Your lips naturally connect again softer this time, taking up every single movement against eachother, studying eachother like a textbook.
Once you pull back again, his eyes rake down your body, not even with lust but somethng more, something you've been searching for your whole life.
"You look-" he chuckles trying to find the words. "I would say stunning but that wouldnt even begin to explain how you look." a charming, genuine smile growing with each of his words.
You chuckle, "You really shouldve done this sooner.", a captivating smile on your face as he pulls you in once more.
If you knew months ago that out of the blue a perfect man would come into your life and save you from your own, you would believe it, but you wouldnt be able to wait for it.
Thsnk you for reading! any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated, as this is my first ever writing piece!!

ok… imagine a moon knight and daredevil crossover where dd has no issues fighting the invisible jackals because the dude cant see shit anyway. moon knight is like “you can see them??” and matt, not wanting to reveal his blindness but having no idea theyre invisible, is just like “yeah i can see of course i can see”
moon knight then assumes dd is an avatar of an egyptian god. bc what else? so, naturally, moon knight asks “what god do you serve?”
“jesus”
“what??”
“im catholic?”
“what???”
