shsl-white-hat:
...Her body acted up again, the pain more intense than ever before. Hissing under her breath, she speed-walked over to her luggage, her legs giving out the moment she made it. The white hat breathed heavily, and her face was suddenly flushed red. Time to embrace the darkness, she guessed. Painkillers can wait for a while.
Folding shut her sketchbook (having finished drawing the bus wreckage), the petite girl ambled over and looked down at the other girl who had collapsed. It was a rather new feeling for Natalia, looking down on somebody. Wow. Bad situation to be doing it in, but hey, here’s betting it would absolutely feel nice if it didn’t feel bad.
She paused a moment, and then spoke softly. “Ah... are you alright?” What she said was definitely a question, but it came out rather like a hard statement of fact, in a very matter-of-fact tone. Almost an assertion. Weird way to say it, but hey, this girl is weird anyway. What kinda person just goes and draws their environment before doing anything?
She rummaged about in her bag while continuing, “Whenever I feel bad, I usually hold Oscar to help.” Eventually, she remembered where this so-called Oscar was, and hauled out a pretty dang large stuffed toy snake from a side pouch of her bag - not even the bit she was rummaging in.
She gave it a quick squeeze. “You can hold Oscar for a bit, if you’d like.” She held out the big plush toy.

Living Dead Youth [PROLOGUE | OPEN]
So: there had been a multi-hour bus drive. A lot of nothing had happened. Everybody seemed quite content to not do much, and so a good few hours were occupied in a rather lazy, almost dream-like fashion.
And then suddenly a lot happened at once, and Nat was being hauled out of the wreckage of a bus, intact, unharmed, and... with the same expression as you’d use for watching a particularly boring movie trailer before your actual film - stoic and rather indifferent towards this whole situation. Huh.
After being reunited with her bag containing... her stuff, as you may expect, she stepped back to survey the situation, pulling a large, leather-bound sketchbook from the bag. There was a rapid, almost blurred motion of a hand with a pencil, and shortly after, she held the sketchbook up in front of her face to show a cartoonishly worried - no, fearful - expression drawn on the page.
After this, she finally spoke from behind the book, her tone completely deadpan and rather disinterested-sounding. “Uh oh.” A succinct summary of the situation. Uh oh indeed.
Lowering the sketchbook again to reveal the same bored expression and flipping over to a fresh page, she began to carefully draw the bus wreckage. Might be handy later, she reasoned. It’d be a shame if somebody were to distract her, huh?
