((Hey guys, it’s been a while.))
((I’m glad to see that most of you are still here! That hasn’t been the case on some of my other blogs.
Anyway, I’m gonna cut right to the chase: you can now find me over at my multi-fandom multimuse blog, @cave-of-the-owl-witch! I still play Gyro and Launchpad, as well as around twenty other characters because I have no self-control, lol. That said, I have to be a Responsible Adult™ these days, so I’m not online very often.))

((I’ve been doing some thinking, and I think it’s time I officially went on hiatus, or at least a semi-hiatus. I love this blog and I’ve been struggling to find time and motivation to come on and actually play for almost a year now, and I feel like that’s not fair to you guys, especially when I try and start new threads that inevitably go nowhere and take months to really get going. I’ll still be around, but I feel I need to make it explicitly clear where I stand and how much I can actually invest in this blog anymore.
This isn’t an easy decision for me to make and I’ve been putting it off for a while. In truth, I don’t want to do it. But it’s not fair to keep everyone waiting on me all the time.
So I’m going to come back when life’s less busy. I’m going to stop making promises that I just can’t keep, and I’m going to come back when I know for sure I can make good on them. And sometimes those comebacks will only be for a couple of days. Sometimes they might only be for one day a month, or even one day a quarter. Sometimes I might only come on to do asks and crack, and I need to let myself know that that’s okay. This is my blog and I should be able to have fun with it, and if I hold myself to too high of a standard, I’m never going to be able to come back properly at all.
Thank you to all of you who have been patient with me. I’m afraid you’ll have to be patient a while longer, but if that’s not acceptable, I won’t hold it against anyone if they want to unfollow me.
As always, I’ll still be available on my main. Gyro-mun out.))

My roomba is scared of thunderstorms
I was sitting at my desk just a few minutes ago, drawing, and a really loud crack of thunder went off–no power surges or anything, just thunder–and my roomba fled from its dock and started spinning in circles
I currently now have an active roomba sitting quietly on my lap

“...Invisible?”
He considered this for a moment, and then his eyes lit up. “That’s a great idea!” he cheered. “It’ll take a bit of doing, but I’m sure I can manage it! And if it’s going to be invisible, I should probably try to make it as quiet as possible while I’m at it, so that the noise doesn’t startle them either.”
He was so caught up in the idea in his sleep deprived state that it didn’t occur to him that such a contraption might be... misused.
sirgyrodegearloose:
“Wireless interference, huh?” he mused, half to himself. “That will be tricky… I’d have to find a unique frequency to run it on, maybe beef up the signal strength while I’m at it… or I could create a sort of counter-jammer to keep nearby signals from blocking yours… I’d have to figure out a way to keep it from messing up their signals in return, though; wouldn’t want to be the cause of any neighborhood disputes…”
As he began to scribble his ideas on a notepad, he continued, “How far is the tree from your bin? That’ll help me figure out how strong the signal needs to be.”
“Well, it would be useful if I could monitor the fluffy babies from far away, so really, the strongest you can manage. But yes, I definitely wouldn’t want to cause any trouble for anyone else. Heavens no.”
After all, the last thing he wanted was his target to notice it.
“And I would also hate to disturb the harmony of nature so maybe it could be invisible?”

There was a long stretch of silence after the blast, and once he was sure it was over, Gyro uncurled and glanced back at the workshop. The building was still standing, and as loud as it had been, it looked like the only damage was a large hole blown in one of the walls. Of course, he was sure it was probably worse inside.
That could wait. Right now, he had to check on his friends. He sat all the way up, tapping each of them gently to let them know it was okay now. Helper shot Gyro a thumbs up and immediately went to go and see the damages for himself, taking off across the lawn.
“Clementine? You can get up now. It’s over, we’re safe. Are you hurt anywhere?” All of the shrapnel was over in the side yard, but it’s hard to be careful when you practically drag someone out of a building and throw yourselves at the ground.
@sirgyrodegearloose continued from here X
“It’s… not supposed to be sparking like that. In fact, we should run.” Gyro grabbed the doll’s hand and pulled her along with him. “Come on!”
The machine behind them continued to emit bolts of electricity, the crackling becoming more violent by the second. With Helper and Clementine in tow, the inventor flung open the door and dove outside, covering them as best he could.
“Cover your ea–”
The last part of his sentence was drowned out by an explosion from inside the workshop.
At first, Clementine thought the sparking was a natural effect. Maybe it was emitting some sort of science magic? It wasn’t until she casually told Gyro about it did she realize the seriousness of the situation.
But before she could even ask any questions, the doll was being pulled along to the front yard, her short legs trying to keep up with the inventor’s pace.
The feeling of panic reached its peak when the explosion was heard, causing the rag doll to shriek in terror and shock as she subconsciously clung to Gyro’s shirt, eyes squeezed shut and not daring to open. She was still as a statue, pressing herself against her friend as the terrible sound echoed through the block.

The moon may have been rising, but that didn’t mean a whole lot to Gyro as he continued to work on his latest project. He often kept strange hours, and tonight was shaping up to be no exception; he’d be lucky if he was in bed by 4am. He didn’t mind, however, and continued right along with... whatever it was he was doing.
There were schematics and blueprints all around him, some of them stuck to a large whiteboard with magnets, and many of them crossed out or crumpled into balls that lay scattered on the floor and the workbench. The only one that seemed to be in good condition was the one he was currently scribbling on, muttering something unintelligible as he did. Large pieces of sheet metal and boxes of parts were leaned against the wall beside him.
After a couple of minutes, he slammed his pencil down and crumpled up this schematic as well, grumbling as he tossed it against the wall in frustration. It bounced off and landed somewhere behind him before rolling out of sight. With a sigh, he ran his hand through his hair a couple times before leaning his elbow on the workbench, allowing his forehead to rest in his palm as he closed his eyes to regroup. Slowly, the anger building up inside began to simmer down.
Suddenly, his stomach let out an almost obnoxious growl. He blinked in surprise a couple of times, then glanced at the clock; when was the last time he had eaten? Besides that, maybe what he really needed to clear his head was to get up and get his blood flowing again. He stood and fetched his coat and his keys, calling out as he tugged a hat down over his orange fluff,
“Helper, I’m going to take a walk down to the Chinese place and get some takeout. You’re in charge, but I’m locking the door behind me.”
The was a buzz of acknowledgement from one of the back rooms, and then Gyro stepped out into the cold, oblivious to the being that had been watching through the window.
Moving through Time
“Ugh, I have had it with these neanderthals. Igor’s been giving me coffee lately, Nanny is just being Nanny, and Heather’s been getting more rebellious and ungrateful.” *inhales deeply, then lets out a slow exhale* “I need to get away from them, and find some more suitable company.” Balthazar paces, shifting his eyes from the cold stone floor to the decaying walls, and then back to the floor. “What can I do to escape this wretched nightmare?” he asked himself, until he looked back up at one of the many clocks inside of the castle. “Oh, yes! I can travel anywhere I want to, but then they would just find out where I am and I do not want that to happen. However, if I speed up the clock while they are out of the castle, then I would leave them behind on my voyage through time. That option seems more sufficient for me.”
“IIIIGORRRR!!!!” the count yelled from his chambers in the underbelly of Castle Duckula. Within moments, Igor came running down to see what was the reason for calling him.
“What is the matter, m’lord?” he spoke with his low and grave voice. “Why, I want you, Nanny, and Heather to go out have yourselves a satisfying day. I would like to go as well, but there some matters I have to attend to here.” he answered, and with that, Igor seemed slightly confused. “But m’lord, you know that Heather is more protected under your care. There are many evil things that go about outside these walls, and if you truly care for the girl’s safety, then-” the butler was trying to express, but Balthazar cut him off with, “I am aware of all that, Igor, I just need to do these tasks alone, I ask this because what I am about to do is riskier than what I am demanding you should do. Now take them and go.” Igor was not pleased, and his irritated face made that observation shine like a lightbulb. “As you say, sir.” was his final words and then he left to do as he was told.
Yes! Now when I hear none of their heartbeats in the castle, I shall wind up the clock, and be off on my way. Bart thought. Waiting some minutes, he wasn’t able to hear their heartbeats anymore and heard the front door close. “I am on my way!” he exclaimed, hopping to the clock, and spinning the hour hand clockwise to make it advance in time. The sequence started, as the castle shifted and lit up, until it went into a temporal wormhole. He didn’t have a set destination, and he was still fairly new to this process, so he chose to keep the others out of it when he tried. “It does feel strange, but then again, heh heh, many things do for a vampire.” he joked. He felt a large change in position, as the castle stopped moving and became stationary once more. Teleporting to the front doors, he creaked the door to see if any sunlight was out, and in his favor, the moon was starting to come out, a waning gibbous to be exact.
Stepping outside like royalty to uphold his title as count, he turned his head to see a vastly changed environment from whence he originated from. “This is most peculiar. I will investigate, or maybe find a nice maiden or two for myself.” he chuckled as he flew into the air. Many lights were off in the much larger community he ended up in, and so it was an odd sight for him, as so much had been altered, advanced, and grew. He saw a huge compound with a large sign that was foreign to him sit on top of a hill that seemed to have a dry moat. There was a building with a light on, and he headed there and hid himself in his cloak. Watching the person inside like an owl from their windowsill, Balthazar contemplated his tactics to approach this mortal.

Mysterious devices falling from the blue, unexplained explosions... Gyro felt a little thrill in his chest as he considered the possibilities. He didn’t want to get his hopes up, but in the back of his mind, his inner sci-fi nerd was bouncing up and down and screaming at him that it might just be aliens. It wasn’t an entirely crazy idea; after all, he had several friends who’d had encounters.
His inner skeptic quickly stepped in, however, to remind him how easy it was to fake something like this. As the boys had mentioned, it could have just been a pair of teens with fireworks and a good throwing arm.
Still, the chance that this could be the real deal was too tantalizing for him to ignore. After considering things in silence for a while, he said, “Would you boys mind showing me exactly where it happened? I’ve got a couple of theories on what it could be, but I’ll need to look into a few things to be sure.”
sirgyrodegearloose:
“So it was just… lying there? Did you two notice anything else out of the ordinary?” he asked, turning it over and over in the hopes of catching something he’d missed. Alas, the device was just as inscrutable as before. He passed it to Helper– perhaps he could find something Gyro couldn’t, being as small as he was– and turned to give the boys his full attention.
“Zeca said he saw it falling to the ground.” Zico imitated the action of it falling with his hand despite not having seen it.
“Maybe somebody threw it?” Zeca offered. “Or it was in a tree and fell?”
Neither of the boys have a very good explanation for it. Zeca had turned in time to see it falling from some unknown height. He wished he had turned around just a little bit sooner to see it. Zico recalled one other thing. “There was a, uh… um. There was a big noise too! Like an explosion.”
Zeca nods. “We thought it was a firework. But it might be because of this.” He pointed at the device that was now in Helper’s hands.

((Hey guys. I know I’m not on much, but when you do see me replying and I’ve answered a bunch of threads more than once but I’ve left you hanging, please don’t be afraid to message me about it. I will never drop a thread without telling you first, and chances are good that either I didn’t see it, Tumblr didn’t tell me you replied, or both.
Additionally, if you ever want to continue a thread that got lost, even though it’s been weeks or months or even years since the last reply, go ahead and shoot me a heads up. Best case, we go back to it and give it the ending it deserves, and worst case, we can cut the thread and decide on an ending we both like for if we ever need to reference it in another thread. I’ve done this so many times with some of my best friends and it’s always worked out just fine. Ex: we both get busy with life, realize we’re never going to finish a thread, and decide that XYZ was going to happen even though we never technically wrote it out, so that we can still keep a cohesive and mutually agreed upon canon.
I bring this up mostly because I was going to message another mun and found a conversation about a thread from last summer that was started and then I completely forgot about it. I really do try to hold myself accountable, but sometimes I can be a real dingus and things do slip through the cracks.))

@sirgyrodegearloose cont. from here
“We were playing in a field by our house,” Zico explained.
"And that’s where it was,” Zeca added. “Mamãe didn’t know what it was so we brought it to you.”
Their mother had been worried about the boys messing with it. (Who knew what it was or what it could do to them?) She had promised them she’d take it to be looked at, but the two impatient children had taken it while she was at work to show it to Gyro. Like Zico often repeated, it’s better to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.
It’s why he was always grounded.

sirgyrodegearloose:
Gyro shrugged and gave an unhelpful grunt at the offer of coffee.
“So… a tiny, unobtrusive drone, then? Something small enough that the balaboos will ignore it, but not so small that they try to eat it.” He paused and stared blankly off into space, as if the wheels turning in his head were moving in slow motion. “Yeah, I can do something like that. I didn’t know you were such a lover of nature, Mr. Glomgold.”
“Oh, you know. Nature is near and dear to my heart,” Glomgold told him. It wasn’t even a lie.
“As for your idea, that sounds lovely. There is one small problem though. It seems some building nearby has some kind of a device that interferes with any wireless signals. That’s why I came to you.”
And because Gearloose worked extremely cheap obviously. Actually, Glomgold wondered if it was possible to get the inventor to pay him for the joy of working for him. Probably that was pushing it a bit too far. After all if it was possible Scrooge would have done it years ago.
#therichestduck#Because he also works for the government lol#And then there's his repair business on the side#The better question is how does he have any free time XD#V; Inventor of Anything (General)

When did I create my blog: I made the original blog back in like February of 2012, but then Tumblr had a mix up a couple years ago and I had to remake everything.
What do I post: On this blog, it’s mostly RP threads and things relevant to Gyro’s interests
Last thing I googled: “Nestor character Jose Carioca”, because my friend and I were talking and trying to figure out whether Nestor or Gyro appeared first. (It was Nestor, btw: apparently he first appeared in American comics in 1942 as a character named Manuel, but he was renamed Nestor when the comics moved to other countries.)
Do I have any other blogs: I have my personal blog, @obnoxiousowlwitch, as well as a few other RP blogs that are still on hiatus: @alittlebitofcheer (OC), @aidetothequeen (Lord Starchbottom from The 7D), @eldritchburrito (OC), @gremlin-gus (Gremlin Gus from Epic Mickey/Roald Dahl’s “The Gremlins), @ferocious-beetlemoose (OC), @ghastlygreyfellow (OC, shared with @the-grumpster), and two other blogs that I’ve been working on mostly in secret.

What I am wearing: Grey DuckTales T-shirt, navy blue hoodie with the logo of my local game/card/comic shop, blue striped pajama pants, purple striped fuzzy socks
Dream job: Fantasy novelist
Dream trip: I dunno. I’ve never been to any of the Disney Parks, so that’s definitely something I want to do. Same with Universal. I’d also love to visit Ireland. And I do kind of miss London so it would be pretty cool to go back someday too.
Favorite food: Grilled cheese and stove top ramen.
Nationality: American
Favorite song: I can’t pick just one, lol.
Last 📓 I read: Sadly, I think it was my bio textbook from last semester. I haven’t done any recreational reading over the break.
Top 3 fictional universes I wanna join: Duckverse, The 7D universe, and idk maybe the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command universe? A lot of my favorite fictional universes, as much as I love them, would actually kind of suck to live in.
Tagging: Whoever hasn’t done it and wants to.
