Those filthy witches deserved to be hung for their treacherous actions. You know what type of witchcraft they have already plagued us with I personally find much joy watching them accused plead for help. How dare they try to turn our fellow settlers to the dark side. Do they have no shame? They don't deserve to walk with the rest of us and God is on our side. He would want it to be this way. I am disgusted by those who sympathize with those witches and I am glad to hear that you have the same views as my friend and me. We wanted to invite you to come drink at the tavern with us after watching these trials.
-Sir Archibald Thornton
Today is July 19, 1692. Recently, these witch trials are getting more and more intense by the day. Just yesterday, I attended a trial on a young woman named Susanna Martins, who was convicted of witchcraft. She was hanged this morning, for I - along with a few of my fellow settlers - witnessed her attempting to recruit Joseph and Jarvis Ring into witchcraft.

Just found an old photo of my grandfather attending a town meeting. They appear to be in the midst of a heated debate, wonder what it's about. I remember he told me all the men who were just like him help weekly meetings in the church to discuss, well he never told me what but I’m pretty sure it was to be important. What a time to be alive!!!

I have just discovered a jounal entry my grandfather had never posted before. Seems intresting:
April 21st,1689
“Not many know this, but I was apart of the famouse Boston Revolt. It started when Andros arrived in Boston on Dec. 20, 1686 to enforce the Crown’s crackdown on our colony’s independent ways. King Charles II had learned that we were settling land well beyond the boundaries set by the charter. We may have ignored trade restrictions, but hinelsty we have been here for so long, Englanf sort of seemed irrelavent. Anyways, aparenly they didnt like us behaving this way, well sucks for them. We made new boundraies for ourselves. Anyhow, we got tired of him being controlling and snobby so lets just say he wasnt a problem anymore after we were through with him.”

I don’t know if anyone still posts on this ancient blog, but my name is Archibald Thornton III. My grandfather was the owner of this blog originally but passed it down to me on his deathbed. I have strived to build on his legacy seeing as how he was such an honorable man. Things have gotten worse since my father’ s and his passing. The British believe that they can control us but we will not contort to their ways of life. We say no to the high taxes. I just got back from the harbor dumping the stingy British’s tea. That will teach them a lesson no doubt. I feel that this is just the start of something big. I hope to make my grandfather proud. So until next time...

I'm afraid I have dire news that will upset you all very much. As of late, I have become very ill with no chance of recovery. I can foresee my end as it approaches rapidly, however, I wish to continue to grace the rest of the Tumblr universe with the Thornton legacy. As I bid farewell, my grandson, Archibald Thornton III, will run my account and share his journey as a young man hopefully following in my footsteps. I have had an amazing time sharing my life’s journey with you all. Goodbye magnificent strangers, I’m afraid there will no longer be a next time...

Salem Witches

Heard about those deplorable women. I can't believe that they were capable of such things. Those witches should be ashamed of themselves and their disgusting witchcraft. I am glad that they are being hanged from the chairs, we don't need creatures of these kinds roaming free on our lands.
Just traveled to Salem to watch one of these executions. Can't believe what kind of world it has turned into. I feared for my family’s safety but I am glad that the witches will no longer be able to harm any one!

Wow look at all the time that has flown by, umm where did I last leave off. oh yes, I was heading to Harvard. Let me catch you guys up. University was going splendidly, however, the Winter of 79 was a rough one. It was brutally cold that no one dared step foot on the frigid paths. So there I was trapped at my good friend, Ebenezer’s home, when I met his sister, Temperance. Oh, what a lovely name! We fell madly in love and decided to get married after the harsh cold had passed. It truly was love at first sight. We had eight children, seven girls, and one boy. Upon our marriage, I decided it was best to stay in Boston, nevertheless, I still traveled every now and again to tend to my land. After I had graduated university our family had moved back to my hometown, where I taught my son, Archibald Thornton II, how to work the family business. Life has been spectacular and I couldn’t ask for a better family. What's been going on with you guys anything interesting? So until next time...

I have something to tell you guys. I can't believe I'm actually about to admit this but if I do not share my worries with a bunch of strangers then who else. So anyways, my crops haven’t been doing so well. I know that's it's because Massachusetts does not have the most fertile soil but we were always able to grow corn, pumpkins, rye, squash, and beans since they still grow well in the poor soil. I mostly blame my servants, I am pretty sure it is their fault that my harvest has not been successful. Maybe it's a sign from God that I have to pursue a different path.
Confession time... As my father lied on his deathbed, he only wanted two things from me. To this day I vividly remember his last words, “Son, I do not have much more time, as I take my last breaths I only wish two things from you. The first to keep the land prosperous and successful. And the second, to attend a university and be the first in our family to do so.” I feel like such a disappointment, failing my father in one of the only two things he asked of me. Recently, I enrolled myself to Harvard University in our capital, Boston. I hope to make my father proud because I know he is watching from up there. I promise to tell you all how it goes and until next time...

I can't believe those wretched Indians had the audacity to attack us. Who do they think they are? We are here for good and nothing they can do will change it. Do they really think that they can beat us on our own land? Those imbeciles! I don't even know how my parents dealt with these Indians. Gosh they are so annoying. If there is no fur then why do we need to give them our goods. The entire point of trading with them is that we get their fur and they get our weapons. Am I right or am I right? King Philip is going to be the reason that his “precious” tribe is annihilated. But who really cares. Let's be honest they are a waste of space anyways and it's not our fault that they have nothing to trade anymore. I’ll keep you guys updated on how all of this turns out (we are definitely going to win) and until next time...
-Sir Archibald Thornton
Update: August 25th, 1676
One of my friends told me that King Philip was beheaded. Finally! But I know our victory is a sign of God’s favor. If anyone knows where I can get the leftover Indians let me know. You can never have too many servants. Talk to you guys later.

Hey, guy! I am finally part of this Tumblr world. This is so exciting. I can finally talk to you guys without sending those inconvenient letters. Oh, where are my manners! My name is Sir Archibald Thornton and I'm 22 years old. My parents traveled to Massachusetts on the Mayflower and they were one of the first people to celebrate Thanksgiving. So I’m basically royalty. Anyways, I inherited a ton of land from my parents after they died. May they rest in peace. Generally I grow corn, pumpkins, beans. Man its alot of hard work! So now I have a great deal of land and three servants to work on it. Let's be honest, there was no way I was going to do any of the work. They are indentured to me for 15 years but they keep running away. Oh well, I get to keep them for a longer time, less work for me! I’m not married but I’m not worried, there are plenty of women to choose from. Life is pretty great right now. Nevertheless, this is me in a nutshell and until next time...
