Welcome to the Simsdom!

Welcome to the Simsdom Fantasy Save File. I started this save file a while ago but I decided to make a dedicated Tumblr page for my save file - as I am quite proud of it. I wanted to make a dedicated pinned post which will be edited as I need to update info and what not.

The idea of this save file is to dip in and out of stories and see how things change over time. So, all lots will be filled and created but also you can just evict someone and move your own sims in.

I do not have an end date but when I have enough I might release the save file.

Sims packs and CC

I have currently got every pack apart from Life and Death, Love Struck and one of the recent CAS kits. I own every other pack and plan to use them. I know this is not convenient but I prefer to not stop the creativity flowing and sometimes a certain kit or stuff pack just fits right. That been said I have got some builds/sims that are pack limited, which will be stated in their dedicated post.

I do have CC for the game as the amount of fantasy cc is limited, I will have another post with the mod list - both recommended and needed.

Fantasy Races

I have included fantasy 'races' but they aren't based on any specific lore, but mostly for variety and vibes. There are some prejudiced sims but this is not based on race but rather their personality/class.

This save file is primarily based on medieval fantasy and as such is a little feudal but as there is no way to enforce this sincerely in the sims, it's more like set dressing. I just love Medieval Fantasy and live in the UK so these tend to cross over.

Any allusions to real life is not intentional.

The Simsdom Royal Family

Following on from last section, there is a 'royal family' and like houses and knights etc, but think of it as set dressing. I like the idea of having different classes as a way to create tension and characterization but not as any real application - aside from systems already in the game such as fame.

Save File Disintegrating Bug

Hi! As I'm sure many of you are aware, there is currently a save file bug going around where it eats itself or disintegrates. This is not a new bug but one which is greatly impacting a lot of simmers currently.

One of the big issues is file size, so the longer or bulkier the game the more likely the bug is to happen. For Rent made this worse as it adds more households and also more items. The sims team have acknowledged this bug and are investigating it. Fingers crossed that it gets solved soon.

Obviously, when building a save file like mine with many sims and many detailed lots, its worrying me a lot. I plan to continue this save, but take lots of precautions to make sure I keep it. These are useful for any simmer who has a big save file, either because like me they're building one or because they have a long legacy that they have been playing for years.

I know this is devastating for as lot of simmers - me included. I just want to play without having to worry about my save destroying itself but here we are!

Knowing the signs - According to many simmers, the first sign was lots, households and items been removed. Also lots won't load or are empty even if on the map they are fine. It's reported that Willow Creek is the first that this happens to. So make sure you go there often to make sure this isn't happening.

Preventative Measures - There are a few things you can do in game to help this. Reduce clutter, sims inventories, and even remove sims who aren't important. This greatly reduces the file size.

Make sure you have a cap on the amount of Sims who will spawn. You can find this in settings or at the bottom of the household management tab in Manage Worlds.

I've even seen some simmers emptying houses and having them as set dressing rather than functional spaces.

Reduce the amount of residential rentals you have - do not go over the max 6 per lot!

The Gallery - Upload everything to your library - as these are disconnected from any save file. You can retrieve them in a new save!

Save Files - One of the best ways to prevent lost save files is to back them up! You can find your saves files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves. If you aren't playing with all your save files, you can find the exact file name in the load menu on the main menu. Then copy and paste them to a different folder or external hard drive. I back mine up daily, purely because I play a lot and do a lot of work to connect my sims.

Family Trees - Starting over in a new save, if you have a large family, can be really devastating as you no longer have the family tree. I would recommend using an external family tree like Sims Tree or Sims Legacy Hub. (Here is a great video going through the features of lots of different one)

Amra and Wemduck Ambergrogg! These guys own the pub - The Wild Fox - in Henford on Bagley!

They are a married couple! Amra is a fire elf and Wemduck is a gnome but they make it work - despite their differences!

Amra is neat, vegetarian and self absorbed.

Wemduck is outgoing, foodie and materialistic.
