I feel like tumblr should be bigger fans of The Blues Brothers. It's a movie that has everything we value as a community. We're in a very interesting period of time where I can go online and get really valuable and insightful political commentary from former Department of Labor secretary Robert Reich, and then I can go to another window and distract myself by watching his son Sam Reich host/torture a bunch of improv comedians in a variety of creative ways.

It's so weird to me when people are like 'but that will cost the government money!' So what? They're the government, they're supposed to be spending money. What, you want them to take your tax dollars and then do nothing with it? Lock it all up in a big government vault and just look at it? Actually my favorite replacement for both 'kill myself' jokes and jokes about reacting violently to things/people that upset me is "I'm going to end up on the news" like it's versatile, it's vague, it's not going to get me in trouble with any censors or websites that take joke threats seriously, it's family friendly while still getting the point across, what's not to love???
