Thinking about Raz's archetype again.

Cassie asks Raz to find a part of himself that can help him -- a warrior, a hero. And he gets a goofy little kid.

But of course, the goofy little kid is Raz: he's snarky, overeager, and thinks all this Psychonaut stuff Raz does is super cool, but doesn't take it too seriously to laugh at it. All these things that PN1 Raz was, but PN2 Raz seems to have dropped or toned down.

Raz's archetype is who Raz is when he's not trying to balance saving the world, proving himself, and staying alive while every one of his comic book idols is watching. He's every immature thing Raz can't be right now. He's Raz being allowed to be a kid.

And he's the only one Raz can summon up, because that warrior persona he wanted has been at the forefront the entire game.

Some psychovex AU Ducky! I realize i like. Never post about her on here. But she's here now!

Ducky's psychic specialty is mental projection/archetype, but when properly *fighting* she prefers hand to hand combat with a pair of scissor-like swords. (Where did she get those, anyway?) Her projections are usually relegated to distracting foes, but they can give a pretty nasty papercut!

fuckass psychonauts mental entity idea: "logical leap[frog]s"

big-eyed [frog or maybe jumping spider]-like creatures near a seemingly-impossible platforming area, staring right at it. when using clairvoyance on them, you can suddenly see platforms that weren't there before, and have to try and complete the challenge while in clairvoyance's fixed perspective.

there are a few different colours of them, each revealing their own set of platforms. might need to carry them around to places that give them a good angle on the area you're traversing. (To avoid frustration, other colours' platforms are *visible* in clairvoyance, but are extremely faded/hazy and intangible)

they can jump really far, but only if you throw them or psi-blast them. for gameplay reasons they're perfectly content to sit where they are if undisturbed.

actually scratch that. Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears (the original, not that one cover) NEEDS to be played loud as fuck over speakers, ideally really big ones that make you feel it in your chest. ideally in a large group of people (this is one of the few Acceptable Event Songs that I truly love hearing. especially when sitting inadvisably close to the speaker. and rather visibly dancing and half-singing along to it even if nobody else is)

however we have. number 16. and to be fully honest with you I almost never listen to classical music. Never really got into it. and brain demandeth more lyrics than popular classical music provideth. so no answer for this one, sadly.

Hm... Usually the real answer is whatever song I'm currently obsessed with imagining my characters to, a position that changes very frequently and is currently occupied by Record Collection by Kaiser Chiefs. (IMMENSELY fun song to imagine fucked up characters to btw. Kaiser Chiefs have a shocking number of those) Daydreaming is easy, free, and can make me happy even when everything sucks.

As for songs that move me forward with their actual lyrics... Biohazard by Crusher-P was definitely that at one point in my life.

You can often intellectually recognize that your worst experiences don't define you, that you can fight to not let the ways people hurt you define you forever. but sometimes you need electronic music full of scifi-adjacent metaphors to get the idea to stick in your brain.

idk. I like that it is inspiring in letting go of people and experiences that hurt you while also still. having the pain and spite in there.
