There’s a scientific journal called “Get me off Your Fucking Mailing List”.

In 2005, computer scientists David Mazières and Eddie Kohler created this highly profane ten-page paper as a joke, to send in replying to unwanted conference invitations. It literally just contains that seven-word phrase over and over, along with a nice flow chart and scatter-plot graph.

An Australian computer scientist named Peter Vamplew sent it to the International Journal of Advanced Computer Technology in response to spam from the journal. Apparently, he thought the editors might simply open and read it.

Instead, they automatically accepted the paper — with an anonymous reviewer rating it as “excellent” — and requested a fee of $150. While this incident is pretty hilarious, it’s a sign of a bigger problem in science publishing. This journal is one of many online-only, for-profit operations that take advantage of inexperienced researchers under pressure to publish their work in any outlet that seems superficially legitimate.

Asked a friend today to explain what exactly "tietokone herjaa" means after using the phrase today based entirely on vibes and then doubting myself after looking it up in the dictionary (literally translates to: the computer blasphemed)

Their explanation was, "it's when your computer does this":

You: *enters what is with 99.9% certainty the correct password*

Handbinding Project: My Immortal by Tara Gilesbie

This really started over a year ago, with a project started in the Renegade Bindery server: people would format different chapters of My Immortal, without knowing what anyone else was doing, and we would put them together into one file. It was agreed upon that everybody would disregard both good design and good taste.

After raiding a Joann’s of materials I thought belonged in Hot Topic circa 2005 (before it just became Think Geek II: We Don’t Light Our Store,) I almost immediately tested positive for covid. So I made most of this over the last four days, and with varying levels of coherent thought and common sense. The process is documented in a thread here

I wanted to draw a Thor/Loki version of this beautiful thing but something went wrong. Thor can’t redo the same pose without touching or kissing his brother, damn. I sketched more things but they are crap.

Woah, it's already been over six months since I started posting Rettsaken on AO3

This is the fic through which I tried to change the way I wrote from "a story about two people who happen to be called Thor and Loki" to "a story about Thor and Loki". Both are valid, but there is a difference imo. I learnt so much with this one that I'm trying to apply to the big WIP.

Rettsaken will forever be my baby. It's not perfect, but it's good enough 😌

Summary: Thor falls for his brother at a young age. Together, they not only uncover their true feelings for each other, but also a darkness within Thor. They transpire to keep their relationship a secret, and are successful, until one day Frigga catches them. The consequences go far beyond what either of them had ever imagined.
