man ive seen a lot of wild comments the past few days but this might be the craziest one

It was entirely a believable quote from Cecile Landi tho 😂

ok so basically six (?) egregious mistakes were made in the span of like 15 minutes:

cecile inquired too late

judges accepted the inquiry despite it being late

judges didn't rewatch jordan's entire routine

judges credited a dodgy gogean

line judges gave sabrina a fake oob

camelia didn't inquire sabrina's line deduction

and that's not even going into the more competition-wide issues like judging being strict all week except for americans and line judges viewing remotely from angles that have had issues before.

ultimately the blame rests on fig more than anyone else for accepting the inquiry in the first place but holy shit what a mess

US Gym fans deciding that Nadia Comaneci is bad actually was not on my bingo card for this Olympics.

Stripping a medal should only be done as punishment for the athlete violating competition rules (eg doping, age cheating, calling out a hit on your main competitor, etc), not because the judges made an error. I don’t give a fuck otherwise.

It seems pretty clear that a lot of people pretty visible and high up in gymnastics need to admit they don’t understand the role of different orgs or indeed how inquiries work, or even how the sport works

It finally happened. What a contest. Andrade has been so close behind Biles for so long that I'm glad execution has pipped difficulty at the final post.

1. That fucking gogean getting credit

2. No Rebe beam medal

you'd think she personally walked up and shoved them off the beam with this headline

I can't believe the judges accepted the inquiry for Jordan's Gogean. It's literally a quarter short with her still turning on the ground. Literally no d panel ever from 2017-now would accept this except for this one. I feel really bad for Ana. I thought the judges were cracking down on form and dance elements in finals hence Ana beating out Sabrina and Jordan but then Sabrina's inquiry got rejected while Jordan's was accepted.
