Returned to the studio after a lovely bank holiday break - - Walkers has dried real nice, ready for a second coat of enamel (in reverse) just to make it pop.
In this image the center of each letter on the word Pharmacy also has a small 3mm circle in filled with a pale blue @1shotpaints enamel paint using a number 1 series 333 brush from @ashandovermatching the name Walkers. - This piece measures 1170 x 180 mm -
Feel free to drop me an email for enquiries on price and options for a sign for your retail premises or maybe something special for at home.

Love this example of acanthus design work. Looking forward to incorporating the acanthus scrolls into my design work over the coming months and years of studio development.

The Mappa dell'Inferno (Map of Hell) by Botticelli, regularly called The Abyss of Hell or La voragine dell'Inferno, is one of the parchments that the famous Italian painter designed to illustrate an edition of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.

Cigar box labels make a fantastic source of inspiration for sign work. The colour palettes alone are such a rich source of ideas. Following from my previous post on pictorial elements in sign making and ephemera.

I get a great deal of inspiration from books, in fact most of my inspiration comes from a library and secondary - social media and the internet.
My son get’s a lot of enjoyment from the natural world and this book fills his mind with wonderful facts about bird life.
The illustrations are a feast for the eye’s which inspired me to focus efforts on a self promotional sign which is in the making. A sign that will hopefully showcase techniques in reverse glass sign making but whilst also demonstrating my love for painting by depicting exotic birds on the reverse of the glass.
I have a huge amount of love and respect for reverse glass sign making and in particular the victorian period and hope to remain accurate to this period whilst developing my craft as a sign maker. A lot of ephemera/advertising/sign making would have pictorial elements to them as well as hand crafted bespoke typography. I hope to incorporate all of these within my wrk throughout this year and learn more from this wonderful craft.

Walkers Pharmacy WIP. - Artwork for the glass panel I'll be starting very soon. The whole piece will have various victorian glass treatments added such as water gilding, gold blending, finger blended enamel paint as well as abalone in lay [mother of pearl], all to be applied in reverse. - I'll be posting wip shots/videos in the coming weeks. - https://www.instagram.com/signsbyumberto/ -
