The 2 Best Stainless Steel Grades To Use For Railings
The advancement of modern, sleek, and vertical architecture in cities has led to the development of railings as one of the most important factors as a part of the structural design of these buildings. Managing the railings requires a design in a way that not only meets the aesthetically pleasing requirements but also delivers the appropriate level of safety. In the past, aluminum, cast iron, and carbon steel handrails were used, which were generally susceptible to deterioration if exposed to harsh conditions such as pollution, heavy use, or harsh weather conditions. As a precaution to ensure the railing is of high quality, it is necessary to select a grade of stainless steel that fits the railing perfectly.
Here are some questions you should ask yourself before you do that:
What is the requirement for external or internal installation of the railing?
Can you tell me the weather condition if it’s external?
Do you expect a lot of traffic to pass through it?
Many people choose stainless steel handrails for their benefit, which is partly why they are so popular at Sigma Pipes Steel Pipes Suppliers. Manufacturing stainless steel is one of our specialties. We can manufacture stainless steel railings using stainless steel. A popular feature of this product is its ease of fabrication, versatility, and customizability. You can benefit from stainless steel railings in the following ways:
A high level of durability
Maintenance is easy
Cost-effectiveness
Appealing to the eye
Diverse designs
Different types of steel have many differences, and choosing the right type of steel for railings is crucial. In the design and manufacture of railing systems, stainless steel comes in two forms.
304 — Grade Stainless Steel
While stainless steel is easier to maintain and does not require a protective coating, it is more expensive than carbon steel. It is corrosion-resistant to rust due to its 18% chromium and 8% nickel content. It is also possible to find stainless steel made from other alloys, which are each formulated for a specific use. It is not necessary to coat steel of this grade with a protective coating.
In both indoor and outdoor applications, grade 304 stainless steel performs well when conditions are not harsh or extreme, or when the system does not suffer from the elements. Railing systems made of grade 304 stainless steel are easier to maintain than those made of carbon steel. Carbon steel requires more maintenance and upkeep than grade 304 stainless steel.
201 — Grade Stainless Steel
Grade 201 stainless steel contains nickel, manganese, and nitrogen in increased quantities. Low nickel content makes it the cheapest stainless steel grade compared to other grades. Stainless steel of grade 201 is an austenitic metal since it is non-magnetic and contains high amounts of chromium and nickel.
The stainless steel grade 201 is ideal for structures that are subject to corrosive forces such as salt water due to its variety of advantageous properties. In many applications, grade 201 can replace grade 301, but it is less corrosion-resistant, particularly in chemical environments. Grade 201 steel has a high nitrogen content, which provides greater yield strength and toughness than type 301 steel, especially at low temperatures, making it ideal for railings.
In addition to stainless wash basins, cooking utensils, washing machines, curtains railings, and staircases, grade 201 is available for use in a wide range of household appliances. As it is subject to pitting and corrosion in cases of little maintenance, it is not suitable for structural outdoor uses.

Do You Know What The Difference Between A Pipe And A Tube Is
It is almost always the case that both Stainless Steel Square Pipe and tube components are interchangeable. Although they are both hollow, their main purpose is to ferry gases or liquids across various media, several distinct differences separate them.
Pipe –
Pipes have a round cross-section and are hollow in the center. A piping system uses these components to distribute pellets, powders, gases, fluids, or even steam. There are two types of pipe size designations: NPS and DN. The North American pressure system, or NPS, is a standard set of pipe sizes that are suitable for both high and low-pressure applications. The term describes pipes in non-specific terms, which may help identify the diameter of a hollow in non-dimensional terms. The NPS value helps determine the conveyance capacity of a pipe in a rough estimate, though it does not match its true diameter. It is important to consider the dimensions of pipes when defining their characteristics. Among these dimensions is the inner diameter or ID, the outer diameter or OD, and the wall thickness or WT. Pipe schedules are also known as wall thicknesses. A pipe’s dimensions determine its liquid capacity. The OD outer diameter subtracts from the wall thickness or the wall thickness plus 2 times the OD outer diameter (or schedule). Due to the designation of the wall thickness as a schedule, most Square Stainless Steel Pipes are available in Sch values. STD., Sch. XS, Sch. XXS or Sch. 40. With the same schedule, it is possible to manufacture separate pipes with different NPS and yet have a different wall thickness in either inches or millimeters.
Tube –
Pipes are always rounding, but tubes are available in any shape, including round, rectangular, squared, or oval. It is easier to order these components because they have dimensions such as OD and WT, similar to pipes. Outside diameter, or OD, along with wall thickness, or WT, are used to estimate the hollow section of tube components. The only difference is that tubes measure in inches or millimeters. A tube’s dimensions will often indicate its hollow section’s accurate dimensions.
Different types of Tubes
Seamless steel tubes
Welded Tubes
Cold drawn tubes
Precision tubes
A hydraulic tube or a pneumatic tube
Heat Exchanger Tubes
Coiled Tubes
Capillary tube
Stainless Steel Pipe is always round, but you can buy SS tubes in round, rectangular, Square Steel Pipes, or cylindrical shapes.
The difference between the diameter of a pipe and a tube
It is possible to order tubes with dimensions such as outside diameter and wall thickness during the ordering process. Occasionally, order dimensions like OD & ID or ID & Wall Thickness are also available. Gauges measure wall thickness, but tube IDs is theoretical. The smaller the gauge number; the larger the outside diameter. Alternatively, you can order the pipe with NPS, which requires the pipe size as well as the schedule number.
The manufacturing process for pipes and tubes
It is possible to manufacture tubes with either a seamless or a welded construction, just as those are the case with pipes. Despite this, tubes are more challenging to produce because of their tighter tolerances. To meet the standards or specifications, the manufacturer must meet all tolerances. Since tube manufacturing involves a finished product, several parameters require consideration, including testing procedures, quality checks, and inspections.
Applications for pipes and tubes
Traditionally, pipes serve for transport across media, but tubes have become more popular for structural applications such as scaffold and staging. While tubes are temporary structures, they can support a crew and materials to assist with the construction, maintenance, and repair of various structures, such as bridges, buildings, and other manmade structures.

How Are Stainless Steel 304 And Stainless Steel 202 Different?
Grades 304 and 202 stainless steel both belong to the austenitic group. In other words, both stainless steel alloys have face-centered cubic microstructures. Due to the addition of nickel to grade 304, this alloy inherits its austenitic structure from the 300 series stainless steel. Meanwhile, grade 202 is part of the 200 series. In 200 series stainless steel grades, manganese and nitrogen are used instead of nickel in their chemistry as effective alternatives. As a result, it is interesting to note that their alloys still contain a small amount of nickel.
Identifying ss 304 and ss 202
MTRs, or certified Material test reports, are the most effective way to determine two different steel grades. Besides getting a more straightforward understanding of the chemical composition, it is also possible to obtain detailed reports on both their mechanical and physical properties. Nevertheless, if you want to gauge the difference between products on the market, try a small test. It is possible to distinguish between the two grades with a spark test, although it is inconclusive. In grade 304, sparks do not fly when a grinder is run over it; they appear reddish-orange in color and thin. For grade 202, the grinder test produces thicker, yellow sparks that fly far. To identify their products, manufacturers mark the ASTM number on their products, for example, ASTM A312 TP304 or ASTM A312 TP316L.
Uses and applications of stainless steel 304 and 202
There are a variety of uses for grade 304 stainless steel, including kitchen benches, sinks, troughs, equipment, and appliances, as well as food processing equipment, particularly for beer brewing, milk processing, and winemaking. Due to its strength and toughness, this alloy grade is also suitable for weaving or welding screens for springs, mining, heat exchangers, quarrying, water filtration, architectural panels, railings, and trim, chemical containers, including for transport, as well as threaded fasteners. Alternatively, grade 202 is suitable for sinks and cookery appliances, hose clamps, restaurant equipment, trim for automobiles, bogeys, trailers, and architectural treatments, such as windows and doors.
Weldability of SS 304 and SS 202
It is possible to weld grade SS 202 using conventional fusion techniques, as with many austenitic alloys. It is also possible to weld the alloy using resistance methods. Oxyacetylene welding is not suitable for joining this grade. Nevertheless, it is prone to intergranular corrosion due to its high carbon content. A similar issue affects grade 304, which contains a higher percentage of carbon. However, lowering the carbon content of grade SS 304 can easily fix this problem. It is possible to get a dual certification, even though the grade would become grade 304L. As a result, the new grade is 304/304L, which is weldable using any traditional welding process. SS 304 welded pipe manufacturers in India use straight argon as a gas tungsten arc (TIG) welding procedure.
There is a price difference between stainless steel 304 and 202
Stainless steel alloys differ in cost based on the elements they contain. There is almost two times more nickel in this grade than in grade 202. Nickel is a volatile commodity. The fluctuating prices of this element make alloys containing it more expensive. As a result, austenitic stainless steel alloy 304 costs more to manufacture than grade 202.
Which is better for a kitchen, stainless steel 202 or stainless steel 304?
Grade 202 has lower corrosion resistance but is very economical. In general, grade 202 stainless steel is better suited for kitchen equipment, utensils, and even sinks. Meanwhile, in large-scale industrial equipment, particularly in industries such as milk processing, beer brewing, and winemaking, grade 304 stainless steel may be used. 202 stainless steel material manufacturers & suppliers in India can offer you a better deal.

The difference between seamless and ERW stainless steel rectangular section pipes
In the stainless steel rectangular section pipe, a solid round steel ‘billet’ is heated and formed into a hollow tube by pushing or pulling it over a form. Billets are procured both from domestic and foreign suppliers. Steel round billets originate from renowned mills in Europe, the Far East countries, Canada, and China. Major indigenous suppliers include JSPL, JSW & Kalyani.
HR Coils are necessary for the manufacture of ERW stainless steel pipes. SAIL, Essar, JSW, and Lloyds, among others, are major indigenous suppliers of HR Coils.
Why is seamless stainless steel pipe different from ERW stainless steel pipe?
The process of ERW pipe manufacturing involves rolling metal and then welding it longitudinally along its length. The seamless pipe is manufactured by extruding metal to the desired length; therefore, the ERW pipe has a welded joint throughout its cross-section, whereas the seamless pipe has no joints throughout its cross-section.
Seamless pipes have no joints or welding and consist of solid billets. Seamless pipe sizes range from 1/8 inch OD to 26 inches OD, depending on the dimensional and wall thickness specifications. It is suitable for applications that require high pressure, including hydrocarbon industries, refineries, oil exploration and drilling, oil transportation, bearings, boilers, and automobiles, among others.
In ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) pipes, the longitudinal weld occurs using strips or coils, and the outside diameter can be up to 24″. The ERW pipe is formed from a ribbon of steel pulled through rollers and shaped into a tube by fusing it through an electrical charge. Most of its applications involve low/medium pressure, such as the transportation of water/oil. Our company is a leading manufacturer and exporter of ERW stainless steel pipes from India. Contact us for more information.
The most common sizes for ERW rectangle stainless steel Pipe are 2 3/8 inch OD to 24 inch OD, in lengths up to 100 feet. Surface finishes are available in both bare and coated formats, and on-site processing is available.
Seamless and ERW pipes use what technologies?
Technology for Seamless Rectangular Stainless Steel Pipes and ERW Pipe Production “CPE Technology” used for Seamless Pipes and Tubes Production up to 7″ OD is a world-renowned Technology. In the segment of seamless pipes and tubes with larger diameters, “PLUG MILL” has the best reliability. The high-frequency induction welding process produces ERW pipes and tubes up to 21 inches outside diameter.
Identifying seamless vs. ERW stainless steel pipes
Simply read the stencil on the side of the pipe to determine whether it is seamless or ERW
The ASTM A53 Type S refers to seamless materials.
In Type F, welding takes place in a furnace,
Type E of welding is electrical resist welding.
It’s as simple as that. Identifying seamless or ERW pipe is the easiest task.
It claims that seamless tubes do not have flaws, but welded tubes do. Buyers and designers with limited experience intuitively accept the concept. Products and manufacturing methods have inherent problems and defects.
Consumers need to learn about these problems and defects and how they may affect specific applications. Facts rather than myths will help them make informed decisions.
ERW stainless steel pipes are manufactured and exported by Sigma Pipes from India. A variety of dimensions and shapes are available for ERW steel pipes as one of the largest Rectangular Steel Pipes exporters from India. The SS pipes that we manufacture consist of the highest quality raw materials that are ISO and OHSAS-certified. The stainless steel manufacturing unit can produce large and customized orders from around the world. For more information about our ERW stainless steel pipes, please contact us via email. Learn About The Types And Characteristics Of Stainless Steel Pipes
Stainless steel has become the most popular and widely used material in the world since it was developed over a century ago. Stainless steel has an exceptional corrosion resistance that helps increase features with chromium content. As well as being resistant to pitting attacks in chloride solutions, the material is also resistant to reducing acids. For SS pipes, it is ideal and best as it requires minimal maintenance, and it is familiar to luster.
Various industries rely on this versatile material. In particular, SS pipes can benefit from this application. Seamless and welded stainless steel pipes are available in different types. Different industries can use it due to its varied composition. Regular use of stainless steel square bar is prevalent in general industrial companies.
Types of SS pipes
Here are some examples of stainless steel pipes used in various scenarios:
Seamless Pipe
Seamless pipes do not have any weld joints or seams. Despite extreme temperatures and pressure, it can withstand them. A comprehensive range of applications is possible with seamless pipes, such as gas and oil. Mechanical and engineering industries also use them. Furthermore, before delivery to the client, it is inspected at a precision level to ensure high quality.
Welded Pipe
Due to their flexibility, welded pipes are used almost everywhere. The cost is higher when it comes to corrosion resistance, thus opposing pressure. Due to the type of material used, welded pipes are lightweight. They are more cost-effective than other piping methods.
Pipe Flanges
Pipe flanges are also essential parts of piping systems. In addition to threaded flanges, semi-flanges, lap joints, and blind flanges are available. Material and durability ensure high-quality products with utmost reliability.
Characteristics
Corrosion Resistance
Most stainless steel pipes available on the market are iron-based alloys with a minimum chromium content of 10.5%. Chromium forms a protective oxide layer on the alloy. Oxide layers formed on stainless steel pipes give them corrosion resistance. Self-healing oxide layers guarantee intact corrosion resistance regardless of fabrication methods.
In different environments, corrosion resistance may work differently depending on the grade of stainless steel pipe. There are two main characteristics of stainless steel pipes- they are resistant and contain chromium, which makes them resistant to attack.
Cryogenic Resistance (low temperature)-
Toughness or ductility is an indicator of low-temperature cryogenic resistance. The tensile strength of rectangle stainless steel increases dramatically at cryogenic temperatures. In harsh environments, they also maintain excellent toughness. Steel pipes that are precipitation hardening, martensitic, or ferritic have no use for subzero temperatures. Low temperatures significantly reduce grade toughness. In some cases, the cryogenic resistance drops below atmospheric temperatures.
Work Hardening
Work hardening increases and enhances mental strength significantly and helps achieve cold working in stainless steel square bars. Combining annealing with cold working provides the appropriate strength to the fabricated components.
Hot Strength
It is possible to retain high strength at peak or elevated temperatures. High chromium or silicon content in stainless steel pipe grades is responsible for its hot strength. For chromium ferritic grades, high hot strength is possible.
High-chromium stainless steel pipes resist scaling at high temperatures.
Strength and Formability
Different grades of stainless steel pipe offer different strengths. In soft conditions, strength remains somewhat constant compared to mild strength. Ferritic stainless steel pipes offer good elasticity and strength. The subsequent heat treatment gives martensitic square stainless steel pipes their hardness and strength.
Ductility
In tensile tests, % elongation determines ductility. Austenitic stainless steel has high elongation. In deep drawing, austenitic stainless steel can form and work because of its high work hardening and ductility.
High Strength
Stainless steel has a higher tensile strength than mild steel. In general, duplex stainless steel has a higher quality than austenitic steel. Tensile strength is highest among martensitic and precipitation-hardening grades. The strength of these grades is double that of other grades.
Magnetic Response
In general, stainless steel responds to magnetic fields. In several austenitic grades, cold working can induce magnetic behavior. Cold-worked grades like 316 and 310 are usually non-magnetic. Magnetism is present in all other grades of stainless steel.

Checklist Of Things To Look For In Steel Bars Suppliers
There are a lot of factors that depend on steel suppliers in the Philippines. Standard operating procedures are in place for steel fabrication to ensure quality. In the construction industry, companies that rely on steel prioritize long-term relationships. There is no individual purchase of steel products such as steel bars, beams, tubes, and pipes in the Philippines. Every project requires them in bulk.
So businesses relying on steel aim for good relationships with their suppliers-even going the extra mile to find out what they can do for them. There are a lot of Steel Bars Suppliers, but only a few are trustworthy.
Here are some good Stainless Steel Round Bars suppliers you can work with.
Our products and services are diverse
Steel products are best purchased in bulk unless you need a large quantity of one. Particularly in the construction industry, what you expect from steel products isn’t always accurate. As a result, you should always be able to find Stainless Steel Round Bars and pipes easily. However, you can also find many other steel products from a reliable steel supplier.
In addition to steel products, you should search for many services that will simplify your life. Steel suppliers should offer delivery services as one of their most sought-after services. Often, construction projects fail to meet deadlines due to a slowdown in materials coming in.
A great selection of steel products and useful services are crucial when choosing a steel supplier. As steel suppliers, we should simplify life for our clients, not only provide them with materials. Consider a steel supplier as a possible partner when they prioritize your goals and wants instead of increasing their profits.
Experience in the industry
A relatively new steel supplier is a great partner for your construction projects. If you want consistency and tried-and-true services, then look for Sigma pipes. The best Stainless Steel square bar supplier Sigma Pipes is a company that has been in business for a long time.
Since these companies deal with various clients, their products and services improve with time. The more experience you have in the industry, the more you know about what to do.
However, the number of years a steel supplier has been providing its services is not always a sign of experience. Sometimes, this has nothing to do with the company’s growth.
Other indicators of experience in a steel supplier would be certifications and memberships obtained over the years. Certified steel suppliers are either known for their industry knowledge or have passed quality control. Several steel suppliers belong to organizations that accept only advocates for quality steel. Additionally, a steel supplier that goes above and beyond what is necessary is a good sign.
Excellent customer service
Take note of how a steel supplier interacts with its clients as well. The sales team is trained to talk to clients, but sometimes it can become robotic and monotonous. For some clients, an obvious script can cause problems. This is why you should look for Stainless Steel Bars Suppliers that understand customer service well.
It should be easy to talk to the steel supplier. There is a clear difference in that when you talk to them, you can tell they care about your needs and wants. You know that you have a good steel supplier when the representative of the company you’re talking to seems open and willing to work with you on all your requests.
Summary
It’s impossible to look for everything in a steel supplier to ensure quality. You can easily identify the three indicators above whenever you examine steel suppliers. Before considering a steel supplier for a future project, they should possess the following elements.
