Y'all know this textpost? This reminds me a lot of BBH.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently, but I think the reason a lot of people are surprised by Badboyhalo listening to metal (and other stuff) is because they don't realize that like. Kindness is metal.

Many people who are the gentlest kindest people are not kind because they're weak or they're sheltered, but because they fought for it. A lot of people become compassionate because they've been in a lot of pain before, and compassionate people are massive outliers because they come away from that pain fighting tooth and nail to be known by their gentleness.

It's easy to want to push people away. It's hard to set your fear aside in order to love the people around you.

From what Dream and Skeppy have said about BBH I really think this is true of him - he is kind NOT because he's weak, but because he has the self control and confidence of a steel wall. He's strong enough to stay gentle. There's no way that he doesn't know that it would be safer and easier if he was less gentle, less soft, more secretive, but he looked at that option and said, you know what?

No.

I will not protect myself at the expense of my values. I will not protect myself at the expense of other people.

That's something that's so scary to do and he does it in front of millions of people. He doesn't care if no one ever notices that he's strong or smart, he just cares about the way he affects people and he would rather leave other people feeling loved than be safe or publicly respected.
