We were sorted into #HousePfizer yesterday with our first dose of the #FauciOuchie! It was such an easy experience, completely free, we were in and out in less than 30min and we never even had to leave our car! People, understandably, have been asking about side effects. If you swipe over you'll see a conversation between me and my friend (@corwin1978) who happened to get our vaccines at the same time! 🤯 I experienced slight tiredness for a few hours and my arm, at injection site, felt sore through the next day (it felt the equivalent of having a bruise on my arm as though I had been training and bumped into something). Nothing unreasonable or unmanageable! Many of you might know that I've had a severe recurring shoulder injury for almost 5 years now... Today, with help from my personal trainer, we took our first long overdue steps towards shoulder mobility and rehabilitation! So many people get discouraged about progress. "I don't want to do x, y, or z because I'll suck, or I need to lose weight first, or I need to 'insert excuse here' first." "I can't sing, or paint, or dance because so many people are better than me... They'll laugh at me..." But you don't get to mile 5 if you don't knock mile 1 out. So what, someone is always going to be better at SOMETHING than you. They've also probably put in their hours, it's time to put in yours. I've heard the saying that "so many people want to look like a body builder, but nobody wants to lift weights." (yo, me included 😜) But time and time again it's been proven that IF it's important to you then you WILL make time. If it's not you WILL make an excuse. I didn't want to run today. I'm tired, I'm sore, and I didn't feel like it frankly. But I did it anyways. That's important. For those days you're feeling down and out, you're training not just your body but your mind that either giving up is ok OR that you can get through whatever it is. Why is mile 1 or 2 or 3 so darn hard, but then by 4 and on I feel like I can run forever? There's so much freaking symbolism I keep finding in it (which I can admit is probably self created 😂), but it's working for me. Hope my silly work outs and trials motivate you or inspire you in some way. You're beautiful, you're special, you can do the thing. Today. Especially today. Huge thank you to this person for feeling compelled to reach out. When you're put in a position of leadership and inspiration you often feel like you need to (fake) smile through the tears because showing people the negativity surrounding you in your life is a downer and not conducive to your goal of helping others. But honestly... We're all human. I've been struggling too. With a-l-o-t. And to be recognized by people who I had no idea were even following me, also that I've never met, gives me a level of perspective, motivation, and inspiration that I honestly needed to be reminded of. I'm not 100%. I don't know how long before I will be. But I'm still going to keep doing my best, for me and you, and giving it my all. I sure as hell am not giving up. STARTING THE NEW YEAR RIGHT! First big win in a long time and I'm emotional now as I write this. I feel like I have a second chance at life. Within a few days of each other I have my own home to rent and now my own car! I'm finally the owner of my own vehicle again. 😭 After being in a horrible car accident a few years ago, I've had to borrow and coordinate transportation ever since. It caused a huge stress on the people in my life that I cared about, but they stood by me. Even when I would become down trodden, or I'd lash out because I couldn't articulate my frustration properly they were there for me daily. Thank you to @7654julie for all the times I needed help watching my daughter when I had to find a ride. Thank you for putting me in touch with the right people to lock in this deal. Thank you to @moonlitegirl8 for letting me borrow your car for work, and travel almost daily. The nights you'd let me stay with you, or you'd drive to Tampa, or you'd route your entire weekend around a single ride for me. Anytime I need to tow something, or I needed you, you were there for me. I'm extremely grateful to have you in my life. I appreciate you more than I can express. And a heartfelt thank you to @bannierabbit. In the 6 years I've known you, you've done nothing but change my life for the better. Ready to flip into 2019 like... ------------------------------ It's the last Motivation Monday of the year! Help spread positivity and inspiration today. Share something motivational or positive here! ------------------------------ "A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities. An optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties." - Harry S Truman What did I learn in 2018? No one is coming to save you. Your life is 100% your responsibility. Now I know that's harsh, but please give me a moment to explain. Things will get rough, that's a given. In the latter part of this year my entire world turned upside down in an incredibly short-term amount time. But let's be honest, that's how it happens! Inconvenient things and obstacles do not show up when it's convenient! So what are you going to do? Roll over? Give up? I do not have that luxury! I have a daughter to provide for, friends to be there for, a school to grow, a community that looks up to me... What does it say to them if I give up? I can't expect them to work harder then my example. Which is why I CHOOSE to be there for people so they don't have to feel what I went through when I've been alone. Which is why I CHOOSE to overcome my obstacles, so I can give first hand experience and advice and leadership, rather than just say "it'll be ok". Which is why I CHOOSE to grow, and be better, and be the best version of me possible so that I can help those around me grow and we can all rise together. Once you figure out that no one is coming to save you, that YOU have to start the chain by bringing up those around you and being the example. You will start seeing new opportunities. Opportunities that YOU created. Own it. It'll suck at first. But you'll be stronger and smarter for it. Don't know where to start? A person who means a lot to me showed me that often times a place to start is: Boredom. Get out of your room. Get dressed. Eat. Drink water. To some those might no brainers, but it's ok if it's your starting point. Just. Do. SOMETHING.
