Update!!

Hello everyone!! I hope you’re all doing well!! I wanted to pop in here to let everyone know that I’ll be putting my twst gashapon charm series on hold for a bit. Twst has been my primary focus art and shop-wise, and unfortunately it’s begun to become a source of stress and anxiety in terms of making art. I’ll be shifting my focus away from twst to make way for my other interests!!

I still plan to continue my gashapon charms, but for now I think I need a break (however long that may be). Thank you for sticking with me everyone!! 🤗💕💕

Hey guys, I don’t usually make posts like this so I apologize if this is odd 💦 but it has recently come to my attention that a Tiktok user took my OC Raven Crowley’s likeness and artwork (by shimmeryspark) and was passing her off as their own. The issue has already been resolved—however, art theft has been a very prominent problem both in and out of fandom spaces and I wanted to take this opportunity to address it and to remind people of etiquette surrounding artwork.

Firstly, I want to make it clear that I do NOT have ANY social media accounts outside of Tumblr, AO3, and Twitter. If you see usage of anything I’ve commissioned on other sites, those users are not me and it is likely that those users do not have the permission of the original artist to post it.

Many artists have their own terms and conditions that come with their original works and their commissions. In this specific instance, the involved artist’s website states that commissioned pieces are not meant to be reposted or used by anyone other than the person who commissioned that work.

Just because you find a cool artwork floating around online doesn’t mean it’s free for personal and/or commercial use. Even if you don’t claim the art is yours, even if you say ‘credit to OP’ (Pinterest, Google, etc. are NOT valid sources), even if you link the original artist, even if you’re “giving free exposure”, that doesn’t necessarily make it okay with the artist. Every artist has different things they are comfortable and uncomfortable with, and it’s not an artist’s job to hunt down the entire internet for stolen art. This is especially true for cases in which language barriers are present; it’s up to the people consuming their work to do so responsibly.

Please respect the boundaries that each individual artist sets regarding how their work can and cannot be used. Stealing is, by definition, “taking without permission”, so when in doubt, reach out to an artist and ask, or check their social media profiles/websites to see what their stance is; most artists will have something like “no reposts” in their profile descriptions, or terms and conditions linked somewhere. All it takes is just doing your due diligence and researching and/or asking the artist for their permission to use their work.

I just wanted to get this information out there 💦 I don’t have a problem with others making OCs and having fun with their own creations, but they shouldn’t steal other people’s work (art, writing, etc.) in the process.

An OC related art piece I did for my friend was recently used without either of our permission. The situation has since been resolved, but I think my policy regarding my work needs to be reiterated here just in case.

I do not allow the usage or reuploading of any work I've made thus far, or any work I make in the future (unless stated otherwise). I do, however, allow fanart to be used as profile icons with clear credit to “Shimmeryspark” in your bio. This includes content such as Twisted Wonderland, Pokémon, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, etc. Anything pertaining to my OCs should not be used.

These guidelines do NOT apply to my commissions. Commissioned works are intended to be used solely by the commissioner, unless given explicit permission. In this case, this policy was violated, as well as claiming a property that wasn't originally theirs.

I'm very fortunate to not have this happen too often, and I'd like to encourage others to practice the same kindness and respect people have shown to me.  Public spaces obviously aren't a place where everyone is suddenly entitled to each others' property, and there are zero reasons for this not to apply to the digital space. Let's practice common sense, respect and enjoy artists' work on their own terms 💖

First off, I love your twst merch, it’s adorable and just my type. Secondly, I ordered a single pull for the Deuce charm and wanted to get the SSR charm while a friend of mine ordered the same thing but wanted to get the R charm. So when we finally got the charms, they got the SSR charm and I got the R charm. The funny thing is that I asked if they wanted to switch since they really wanted the R charm but they didn’t want to cause it would be an easy way out and the gacha gods would get back at them since they had a similar instance before and taking the “easy way” did not end well for them. Long story short they want to try and get an R via single pull but will have to wait till the Deuce single pulls are back in stock. They’ve been wailing about it for a while and I wanted to share cause the motivation in their eyes every time they look at the keychain is so funny.
