I could be tripping...but Shiggy seems to smile way more when around Deku than he does anyone else in the series.

Not always, obviously- but he mainly seems to have a big ass smile on his face when it comes to Deku. Ever since the mall scence, Shigs sounded all excited telling Izuku "thank you", to the moment he told Deku he was "his Villain", huge ass smile on his face. Don't forget he even licked his damn lips at the boy.

Maybe cuz Deku the only one in the series that actually takes time to actually try to fucking understand him.

And yea- I know Shigaraki cares for his League..but I hardly see him smile. He does at times...Rarely. Shigaraki even admitted even if everything went as he planned that "lump of lead" would remain in his heart. And who was the one who broke that lead? Deku.
