A song that may appear to be in stark contrast to the series She’s Gotta Have it actually parallels similar ideas. SZA’s song is about three women sharing one man - opposite of Nola dating three men. SZA’s song is meant to point out how in today’s society, it is rare for men to only be speaking to one woman at a time. However, she combats the typical notion of girls getting taken advantage of and falling for guys who are seeing other women too. In her song, she’s opting in and recognizing that she is not the only girl he’s talking to, but she doesn’t care because she doesn’t want to be his girlfriend or only one any way. While the song fails to show women as capable of having multiple relationships and partners, it rejects the stereotypical image of women getting played by men.

It's really about control, my body, my mind. Who was going to own it? Them? Or me?
