It was at Courtfield Road that I got to know Anita Pallenberg. You can’t begin to imagine what she was like in those days! She was the most incredible woman I’d met in my life. Dazzling, beautiful, hypnotic and unsettling. Her smile ㅡ those carnivorous teeth! ㅡ obliterated everything. Other women evaporated next to her. She spoke in a baffling dada hipsterese. An outlandish Italo-Germanic-Cockney slang that mangled her syntax into surreal fragments. After a couple of sentences you become hopelessly lost. God, did she just say that? she was either putting you on or this was the Delphic oracle. You were on your own. It was all part of her sinister appeal ㅡ from Faithfull: An Autobiography by Marianne Faithfull.
