“I think you’re super brave,” she said suddenly, looking up from the pebbles floating above the ground in front of her. Small things kept her focused, kept her in check. She was constantly trying to prove that she was in control – not to anyone else, exactly, but to herself. A soft smile for the blonde alien, she let her blue eyes drop to the ground again, letting the round rocks shake and fall, consumed by Earth’s gravity once more.

             Brave. Geesh, if only she felt that way too. Should Karolina have told her that when it counted most, she’d found herself freezing in place, stuck within her own mind and unable to be the HERO, she - if not her city, if not the whole freaking world - needed herself to be. A weak smile flits across her face, a pale ray of sun hidden behind a clog of clouds.

     “Can you show me again?” It might have been a big ask, given the first time had been an accident, but there was no chance of Dahlia forgetting and her curiosity was beyond piqued. 

          Karolina smiled patiently. Anyone else and she might have felt like a FREAK SHOW, an animal in a case on display, but the wonder in Dahlia’s eyes was little - kid genuine. It was too hard to resent. Breathing in, she felt the glow settle over her, the warmth spreading across her body like a salve. When she opened her eyes, the room was bathed in a flurry of pink and yellow, blue and lilac, a pastel kaleidoscope. ❝ So... still think I’m not a freak? ❞

BREATHING    SLOWLY    AND    CAREFULLY  !    you    need    to    calm    down    and    breath    slowly    so    that    you    won’t    get    into    a    panic    attack    and    deal    with    that.    that    won’t    do    them    any    good,    ❝  alex    was    different.    completely    and    utterly    different,  ❞    you    say,    breathing.    ❝  i    thought    chase    didn’t    need    me,    i    thought    nobody    needed    me,  ❞    ‘ and    i    needed    everyone ’     you    breath     out.    ❝  it’s    surreal    for    me,    too,    i’m…    for    me    everything    was    a    week    ago,    for     you?    it’s    been    two    years    and    nothing    is    the    same.  ❞

Not that we’d want that, anyway.❞ Somewhere along the way, the metaphor had gotten tangled –– still, the point stuck. ❝ How are you... feeling? I can only IMAGINE how overwhelmed you must be. ❞ Maybe, some other time when she’s not on the verge of a panic attack, Karolina should refer Gert to her therapist. Not the WORST idea.

“  ohhhh  pshh                you  just  haven’t  seen  my  bad  days.  but  believe  me  -  the  camera  will  get   it’s   shot  someday.  ”       cheeks  flush  red  against  porcelain  cheeks  &   pink  glossed  lips  tug  to  form  a  smile  that  rivals  the  suns  radiance.    alison,  however,  can’t  be  all  too  mad  at  the  lifestyle  of  being  a  pop  star;   she  chose  this  career  and  would  give  up  everything  just  to  see  it  boom.    “  you’re  not  too  bad  yourself,  rainbow. ”

         ❝ We all have bad days, ❞ Karolina said understandingly, the glow of ' oh boy do I understand! ' her cheeks. Her fluster doesn’t feel too bad now; not too obvious, hopefully? It’s hardly Alison’s stardom that has her tongue in knots all the way down to her stomach: it’s the fact that any pretty girl in her vicinity has the ability to turn her into a big ol’ disaster.
